    Little tip for your tomatoes, idk if your mom told you this tip, but once i saw my 6 tomato plants growing very well, I started to give them banana peel water once a week (since we a lot of bananas). You cut the peel in pieces (about an inch), put it in a mason jar and fill it up with water. Let it sit for 2-3 days and then strain the water and give it to your tomato plants. They LOVE it!! Great potassium for everyone!

    I especially love your messy to minimal series! We’ve been on our journey towards a simplified home for about 4 1/2 years now and it’s the best thing we did for our family!
    And I agree 100% about decluttering spaces that are a work in progress - it makes such a big difference!

    Hailey mimicking you was the best!! For large mats like that, I put a small command book on the side of the cabinet and then put the mats in a small binder clip. Use the binder clip to hang them!

    💛 off topic, but I am always in love with your eyebrows! I have thick (in width) eyebrows but the hairs aren’t very thick / dark. You have the best of both worlds!

    Ugh. Thanks for the encouragement to make simple and functional the temporary spaces. We’re missionaries overseas who just found out we need to return ‘home’ for a medical reason for up to two years. For some of that time, we’ll be living with others but that encouragement was so needed for my soul today. Life will happen in the temporary so we’ll make it simple and functional for us as we go. 💛

    Loved this video as always! I wanted to give you a tip for planting tomatoes. All the little fuzzies on the tomato stems are actually all capable of becoming roots if covered in soil! For tomato starts, or even when transplanting larger plants, it’s a good practice to pull off the lowest few tomato leaves and burying the tomato much deeper than the root ball. This allow some of those fuzzy hairs on the stem to grow into roots and it actually gives the plant a better start even though the end result is usually the tomato appearing smaller or shorter. Excited to see how your garden does this year! P.s. I am also in WA and have noticed the carpenter ants!! Yuck!! 😂

    One of the best thingsI've ever gotten free was this beautiful, solid wood, sturdy, multidrawer/cabinet...thing (don't know what to call it) on the side of the road! We use it for homeschool organization and I finally reorganized it last week. I don't know what we even did before having that thing because it holds so much. In the transitional time we must've just made something else (kinda) work!

    Idk if you can salvage those brushes, but you can put brushes in a cup with the brush side up to prevent further damage. Old rags are also good for cleaning brushes while painting. You can also use three ring binders and clear sleeves to store artwork. The kiddos might enjoy having their own art binders and being able to look at their artistic progress. I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil and I just love seeing kids enjoying art

    Natalie, I want to pass along a tip that my mom taught me when I was a kid helping her plant tomatoes. Pinch off all of the leaves up to the bushy part at the top. It's going to look scrawny and pitiful, but you want to bury all of that root ball and stem up to that top bushy part. If you have leggy plants, you may want to dig a shallow trench or you can loop it gently in a wide circle, but cover all it up the leafy top. Every little bump and hair along that long stem will create the best root system to take up nutrients especially calcium which tomatoes need. My tomato patch is out-competing the weeds!

  • @KatherineWeasley
    @KatherineWeasley 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    As you prune the tomatoes you can save any long branches of leaves and actually plant them to grow into their own plant!

    Just wanted to say thank you for always putting out uplifting and positive content. It really can make a difference to someone’s day.
    I’ve not had great health recently which has been getting me down a lot but seeing one of your videos always brightens me a little, makes me feel more positive and in a better mindset,
    I’m almost 10 years older than yourself with a 12 and 20 year old but I really look up to the way you parent Hayley and the boys, your determination to achieve your goals and your relationship Weston. Watching your channel quite often reminds me to check myself and to be more patient with the kids, more understanding of my partner and more determined to battle through harder health or work days 🥰 they all thank you too 😂

    I really need to tackle baby stuff in our cellar. My goal this pregnancy is to just make an “essential” registry and dust off/wash everything we kept from our third son. We’re finished after four, so I don’t see a need to get new stuff outside of what’s sanitary to replace of course. I’m so excited to make a “half nursery” and see how creative I can get! We have three bedrooms, so my four boys share everything including space. I get to put my minimizing skills to the test to make it all work before baby comes 💙

    Hi Natalie, so nice to see Limus (he’s is so handsome with his stripes) and Lucy is so pretty I’m so pleased I’ve finally seen them as after your message I looked back and couldn’t find them. Little Hailey is just so cute, love the way she is in front of the camera 😂 and so nice to see them all enjoying and helping in the garden. It must be so rewarding to eat from your own garden, as a child my dad grew so much and I loved helping him and I had my own little garden and we never had to buy and fruit, vegetables and salad. Have blessed weekend xx

    You are so right about waiting periods. We came across an opportunity to move into a house and it seemed like it was going to happen really quick. I was so excited I started packing right away. The current tenants were supposed to be out at the end of March and decided to squat and still haven’t vacated. Another promise to be out by the end of June has now been broken. I think the owners are taking legal action now, but I don’t know how long that will take. I had a lot of stuff packed and everything was a mess, and we lost my husbands Mother and then it looked like we weren’t going to be able to move anyway because of financial reasons. I was a little upset but quickly was at peace with it and decided to get our apartment back in Order and rearrange things so it would kind of feel like a new place and be a little more functional than it had been since we essential have outgrown the space. That made all the difference. I unpacked some of what I had packed and the rest of the boxes I was able to tuck away in our boys closet. We are living a little simpler and can probably get rid of some of the things I have packed away as we have done just fine without them for about 4 months now. If the tenants ever leave we may be able to manage moving now, but I’m going to wait to start packing again and appreciate the space we are in.

    We once planted zucchini and spaghetti squash near each other and they seemed to cross-pollinate giving us lots of big, green, inedible "squash". Something to watch out for and remember for next year's garden plan if you have this problem.
