People are complaining the game is too easy but I don't think they understand how online multiplayer works.
People have different definitions of easy/hard games. Does "easy" mean "easy to beat, finished it without dying in one go"? Not necessarily. It could also mean "not skill-intensive, no complex tactics" or "not rewarding of legacy skill, even a beginner can win". It would be great if the gaming community could come up with more precise definitions.

@@KineticManiac I believe it is the realism and complex mechanics, it is popular for me to hear that fall guys isn't a real game, sea of theives isn't real, and then most of what they play is shit like rocket league, cod, and gta V is good but you can't compqre it to fall guys

I actually got a Pac-One once on my first game! There was one cool tricks I actually did and didn’t know until now.
When a ghost comes in a corner and you’re about to turn, at the right time you can actually evade them and get away with it. I think it all comes down on speed and timing.
I’m still trying to figure out how targeting and abilities work on this game. Time to grind for pac-ones :D

People are saying the game is too easy, while I’m over here playing about 75 matches and never winning a single one.
I can never finish higher than 4th or 5th. The game becomes way too fast and luck-based for me at that point.
I can get like top 20 or top 10 easily definetly easier than tetris 99 still havent won though

I love going into the vs cpu and put the speed on max and cpu difficulty on max. Makes it chaotic and never boring.

Nice job! I learned about this game two days ago and that's because I haven't used my Switch in over a year (long story). I've only played a couple of times so far. I'd be lucky to get to the top 20. LOL Seriously though I think I need a better controller. I got to 12 playing Tetris 99 prior to my hiatus. It felt like winning...almost. 😁

Dude how. My screen is FULL of the white and red clear ghosts by 7th place. And everytime I clear them more appear.
This was within 5 minutes of the games release when no one fully understood how to play. As you can see I’m not very great either at the time

How so you avoid leveling up or speeding up? I just started playing today and I have no idea how to attack, what to avoid, when the red PAC mans come.
@@MimiYuYu you level up after eating a fruit, but that also boost the ghosts speed and reduces the Big Dots duration.

Big Dots automatically remove the White Pacs of the screen.
Fruit removes the Red Pacs.
Those other players were terrible. I never have matches get to 10 left that quickly.

This is awesome. But it seemed like he had an unbelievably easy round. He didn’t have any of the red PAC mans popping up in the screen. Also not that many PAC man ghosts to show him down.
Hubby decided to record me playing Tetris 99 to show one of his buddies. And I had probably less than 10 garbage lines sent to me. Easy win.

This win came very easily. A tip to anyone trying to win a bunch of games - get your speed level up to 2 or 3 before red PacMen start showing up.
This was one of the first games played after the game initially dropped so I got off very lucky

I was (am?) the top player WW on the old Pac-Man CE DX. I only learned about this game literally today. Don't own a Switch. It's tempting, but the gameplay similarities between the DX series and traditional Pac-Man are actually fairly superficial. The DX series depends on finetuning to perfection, whereas this game is on the opposite end of that scale and (hypothetically) demands a well-trained understanding of the ghosts' behavior, such as what you'd expect from a bona fide Pac-Man pro from the 80s. (I say "hypothetically", because in the absence of anyone online with any skill, you aren't even allowed to enjoy that theoretical challenge-the game simply ends.)
Now, one thing I do wonder is how well Namco-or Nintendo, as the case may be-polices this game for cheaters. All of the DX games were plagued with this issue to one degree or another. Actually, on consoles, the issue was mild, but because Namco did literally nothing to combat the problem, it was effectively as bad as it gets. High score tables were marred by impossible scores taking up the first several places, and only the handful of folks who comprehended the limits of what was possible in the game would ever understand who truly sat at #1. I think if I gleaned some assurances that this was a non-issue for this game, I might be legitimately interested in temporarily owning a Switch just so I can check it out.
There is no way to play a switch online that has been hacked, so there's one way cheating is not likely to be present. The only other way I can think of is if you were to train an AI to play or something. It's a fun game but doesn't have the depth of DX, for sure. I loved Pac-Man CE DX; what a great take on pacman.
@@ronkyle6385 I already picked up a Switch and played Pac-Man 99 for a week or so. It was reasonably fun, but the designers truly failed to understand how players might find appeal in accolades, accomplishments and recognition. Apparently the Mario 99 game handled this *much* better. In Pac-Man 99, the closest thing to accomplishment you could achieve was by starting the game on day 1 and keeping up a good pace. So someone like myself, discovering the game months late, was really just wasting their time.
And yeah, DX was the best. Pac-Man CE 2 was a giant step backwards. They toned down the challenge deliberately, eliminating the most compelling mechanic in the process. And they introduced a giant new mechanic that was so difficult to control (the mode when it's just you and the giant ghost chain that's moving faster than you can) that it's effectively random, which is the absolute opposite of what the franchise represented until then. Not a complete turkey, but very disappointing.
@@Asterra2 Well, they've started having tournaments; there's one today actually and the registration closes at 4 so there's a bit of accolades/accomplishments. I never played Mario99 but the Tetris99 game is like PacMan99 in that it was free and I really think its some sort of network testing that they're doing to optimize online games.
I wasn't as into DX as much as you were (I can only assume :) ) but I did play it quite a bit and really appreciated how well the game was designed. The new stuff they brought whilst keeping the old vibe.... awesome. I was pretty excited about CE2 but when I played it I just wasn't compelled to play it like I was the first. I was really excited about PacMan99 as it downloaded because I saw somewhere that it used elements from the CE games but when I played it it was nothing at all what I had hoped for that brief period waiting for it to dl. To tell teh truth, the only thing I really notice from CE is how going around corners perfectly can speed you up. I like the game though and it does have a bit a depth I didn't see at first but not THAT much. It's great for a free game that doesn't require much time investment at all. I've been playing it since it came out and I still enjoy it. Maybe that's just because I seem to be relatively good at it; if I always lost maybe I'd never play. lol

Just got 6th place today (22/7/21), the highest I've ever got. Before it was 9th, soon with plenty of skill and practice one day i'll be 1st. I can get 1st in Fortnite but like Pac-Man 99, you can't get 1st place without many failures to get 1st along the way. Patrice and skill is key.
