Dude, same. He was doing a signing/meet and greet thing I think and all I really remember of him is him putting his hand on my shoulder for a picture (it felt heavy as 4-5 year old lol) but I have a picture and a signed die-cast (his pink Victoria no-less cause “haha-pink”) to remember it by
At Pocono in 2017, Matty D and Jeffery Earnhardt we’re walking out of the garage area and to the track, but obviously signed some stuff on the way. They were having a conversation when they came up to me, and then I remember distinctively Matt turning to me and said “Hey kid, remember when the 32 car actually used to Go Fast?”
My mom (7 months pregnant) and I (6 years old) waited 4 hours in a hot parking lot for Michael Waltrip. This was in 2005 before Chicagoland. I brought my favorite diecast, his 2004 Stars and Stripes paint scheme. He ended up being late to the engagement due to bad weather in the town he was leaving from. The line eventually began to move once word spread that he had arrived. Kid you not, the excitement rejuvenated me. That wait took FOREVER in the perception of my six year old self. The moment we got to the front of the line, it was surreal that I was seeing him in real life. He soared above me like a skyscraper. He knelt down to get a picture with me before signing my diecast. I’ll never forget this. I always had this reluctance around autographs. As a kid, I felt that autographed items couldn’t be worn or played with anymore. When he asked me if I wanted my car signed, my mom urged my approval. I reluctantly said “yes”, but I was astonished when he signed on the windshield of the model. Now the car really couldn’t be played with. How could the imaginary version of Mikey inside the car see while I was pretending to drive it around the track. Now I really couldn’t play with it. As a 6 year old, I was upset by this. Looking back at 24, he signed in the right spot. As for my pregnant mother, Mikey signed her baby bump. My sister got signed by Michael Waltrip and doesn’t even know it. Undoubtedly one of my favorite childhood memories.
The fan interaction level of NASCAR really is unmatched compared to the NFL or other sports. The level that fans will go to in order to show support of their favorite driver is really like no other sport. One of the things that makes this sport so special.
- Matty D drove past me and my dad in a golf cart after Loudon 2017 - I got an autograph from Ryan Reed before the Xfinity race, also at Loudon 2017 - I got two autographs from Corey LaJoie and Anthony Alfredo at The Glen this year - Parker Kligerman waved back at me while he was in the pits reporting at WGI too
My parents saw Ernie Irvan at our local Walmart a couple years ago. When i was on vacation and walking in Gatlinburg Tennessee i saw Ron Horniday pushing his dog in a stroller. I also met Mike Joy at Hickory for a late model race, was just standing there so i went at got his autograph. Idk if this counts but im close friends with Scott Riggs. We aren't close friends but we know Josh Berry and Denis Setzer. Those are my best moments with Nascar drivers
I met Chase Elliot at JR motorsports in 2017 before the Coca Cola 600 He was the most down to earth guy ever he stood there signing things for everyone until the last fan left. Great guy.
Back in 2016, my husband and I were feet away from Jeff Gordon and Danica Patrick. At Bristol this year, my husband was walking up to the gate where our seats were, and a golf cart with Daniel Suarez drove by. Both experiences were pretty neat even though we didn’t necessarily meet drivers as seeing them pretty close.
I met Dale Jr at our local baseball park when JR Motorsports had a softball team and he was there with them.I was playing my baseball game and when we finished I went over there to say hi and he signed my baseball jersey. Also met a bunch of drivers like Chase,Blaney and Bubba and took pictures with them at GoPro Motorplex in 2015
I’ve met: Hermie Sadler at Virginia Lottery tent, 2016 Martinsville Clay Campbell (Martinsville president) and Tyler Reddick at Midway stage, 2021 Martinsville Freddie Kraft (Bubba Wallace spotter) at eNASCAR stage, 2021 Martinsville. My dad met David and Mark Green at a Christian bookstore in Blowing Rock, NC and Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus at Lowe’s Corporate office in Wilkesboro, NC.
during the 2014 fan intro's for the darlington race in may... ryan newman actually gave me the coke he was drinking like deadass he took ONE swallow of it then just handed it to me but at the time i was 7 and i didn't know what to do then everyone there was screaming "grab the coke" and eventually i gave in and grabbed it and it was overall a hell of a souvenir and one thats very unique
The most famous NASCAR driver I have ever met was The King himself, Richard Petty at a car show in Dallas and I asked him to sign a NASCAR calendar for the next year and he did and personalized it for me. All Hail The King Of NASCAR!!!
As an Aussie, one of my favourite events was Bathurst. I’ve camped there a few times, and one of my favourite interactions was wandering the pit and looking at Ed Albenica’s XB Hardtop. The pit chief let me sit in the car, check out all the engine, even underneath as the car was up on jacks. Then Ed was chatting with us and asked us where we were sitting. We told him, and then when they were out practicing, Ed would slow near us and do burnouts and rev the engine right up. That was real awesome.
@@DavidMadrigalMesa Yeah it was really cool, we’d give him a big cheer every time he went past, and chatted with him again after the race and he asked if we heard him and saw the burnouts, it was really cool.
Meeting Joey Logano was so cool. I was around 10 going to Charlotte motor speedway better known as Lowes mother speedway and he was so nice and I never knew I was going to be fan once Dale Jr retired.
I have many favorite drivers that I have stories on how I met them in crazy ways. But the one I loved the most was ken schrader. I met him a couple of times at the local race track that I raced. He would show up about 1 time a year for his modified class. One year he showed up and I had a massive infection in the right side of my face( my eye was swollen shut and hurt like I’ve been shot).I talked to him before the race and he noticed it and asked if I was driving. I told him that I had to race otherwise I’d lose the points lead in 2 classes. After winning the 2 feature races( in 2 #3 cars that looked like a dale sr. car)He walked up to me and told me I was as tough as Ricky Rudd. What he said will stick with me forever.
I met Chase elliott at the slinger nationals in 2016, chill guy. Met Matt Kenseth and Erik Jones same day, Matt was funny, Erik just signed something and never asked him to sign it lol I met Tony Stewart and he was funny Met Kenny Schrader and he was a positive awesome guy Saw Josh Biliki in a bar, but never talked to him I met Hailie Deegan at the Slinger Speedway SRX race and she was short and talkative I met Rich Bickle in September at Slinger Speedway and he is the best guy... we had a normal conversation like he was a friend... giving me advice on racing because I race at Slinger Speedway as well, best guy ever, he doesnt think of himself as a celebrity, no different then anyone else in Wisconsin who races
I meet Kurt Busch at the airport in Sheboygan Wisconsin after the Road America race. got to spend like 20 minutes chatting with him and hanging out. he left in a helicopter to go to a cubs game. Great guy.
Quite a few older drivers as I was working as a Musician in the USA In the 1990s. Darrel Waltrip in Bristol. Waiting to go into a RESTERAUNT. This guy bumps me says excuse me and starts talking to the guy in front of me.... The guy who bumped me was Darrel. Bobby Allison and Cale Yarborough I'n Atlanta. They were just talking to a group of fans. And I said hello to Bobby Allison as I really liked his racing in the day. Cale pipes up .... Oh nice....I had no idea who he was till our bass player who was a fan of his said his name. Of course I knew him by name. Had no idea what he looked like. Others.... Dale Sr. Dale Jr , Richard Petty , Junior Johnson, Kyle Busch , Kyle Petty, . They were all really nice to talk to.
I got to meet Denny Hamlin in 2016 he was dressed like a real race fan in an all black out fit and he was walking the fan zone area! Fun fact he noticed me when I was at the Hamlin merchandise hauler he tapped my shoulder and said these words and I quote “Your a real Hamlin fan” he signed my shirt, my hat, my new backpack, and my 2016 Daytona 500 champion 1/24 scale diecast! And I got a picture with him he was a really cool and nice guy! This was at Talladega Superspeedway the playoff race btw! Best day of my life!
My mom took me to the Pocono race in 2014 and I had the chance to go to the Q&A before the race, I got the chance to get a signature from Dale JR on a diecast, he ended up winning the race, honestly is one of my best memories
i got to meet my current favorite driver, in kevin harvick, at auto club in 2018. gave him a penny and all that--- before the crash he had in the middle of stage 1. pain.
I was shocked in a positive way when I was in Talladega and my favorite driver Jeff Gordon just walk up to me and sign my shirt. I didn't even ask him for it
I reckon the most famous driver I’ve met is Chase Elliott because I was wearing full Chase Elliott Merch and he signed everything from my hat to my shoes ,Like bro that was a unneeded.
I've never met a driver in real life, but I came within a few miles of Bristol Motor Speedway during the 2017 Night Race, and my grandparents were traveling once when they saw Denny Hamlin's hauler at a rest stop. Timmy Hill's hometown is about 63 miles south of me as well.
Parker Kligerman. Met him on Wednesday of this week over the phone. My dad had someone estimating our windows, he saw my room, mentioned he grew up with Parker and has his phone number. I met him over FaceTime
I have met Ryan Newman and Alex Bowman, and on the same weekend! I was within 5 feet of Larson at Indy, and also met Doug Boles (IMS Track President) I got really lucky this year!
I once met Denny Hamlin while at a FedEx packing facility. My aunt works there and she brought me along not knowing Denny was gonna be there but low and behold Denny shows up a couple minutes after us. He was a really nice guy and super awesome to meet.
I got to meet Harvick when he was sponsored by Outback. Nascar was racing at Kentucky Speedway my uncle happen to be listening to AM radio where they announced he was eatting dinner with fans as an Outback not far from my house. This Outback was a actually an hour or so from the track. My guess he flew into a small airport first had dinner then headed to the track. We didn't pay to have dinner with him it was $50 a person. Since the whole place was practically empty other then the staff those who payed and a few other familys on our side. He came over said hello signed things and took pictures.
Most famous I've ever met? Well I've only met one so by default I suppose: This year I was picked by the Sylvania General Lighting company to be in a zoom meeting the day of the Talladega spring race with some Sylvania associates, possibly Menards associates, another fan and Ryan Blaney and Todd Gordon!
A few years ago when I lived in southeast virginia, I went to a batting cage in emporia to practice hitting after an injury. One of the guys there was an older man who introduced himself as coach Elliot. We had a good conversation that ended with him wanting me to play for his team. After he left, I talked to the other guy at the front counter. Coach Elliot was Elliot Sadler
I met Tony Stewart when he drove the 14 at Staples store a couple years ago. I Had the chance to meet Joey Logano when he drove 20 at a home depot but didn't get to go. I live by Auto Club Speedway
I’ve never met a nascar driver but me and my dad went to the texas fall race early this year and we were going into the track and saw Daniel Suarez walk buy us
I've met Kyle Busch multiple times, I've also met Elliott Sadler, David Gilliland, And although I never met and had a autograph, but Timothy Peters gave me his Red Horse Racing hat he was wearing during driver intro in Vegas in 2012 and said "Here u go buddy" and tossed it up to me
I saw Kasey Kahne at the Hendrick garage about 10 years ago, and I’ll never forget him giving me a dumbfounded look for some reason as he walked into a staff only room.
I got to meet Ernie Irvan, Ken Schrader, and Kenny Wallace at a dirt track near me in CA. I was probably 9 or 10 years old, but my dad told me all three guys were the coolest and acted like just regular guys, especially Irvan when he found out we were from the same hometown as he was.
I met plenty of drivers when Zak Racing was a NASCAR sponsor, long story short my mother managed houses for him and we would get hot passes. I remember meaning Corey LaJoie, he was always friendly and amazing to be around we got to tour his hauler
went to the Brickyard 400 in 2001. The day before the race despite the fact he didn't qualify my favorite driver Kyle was hanging around in the garage area. He saw I was wearing a Kyle Petty shirt and invited he down off the overview the fans were on to look over the garage and signed my shirt. Also my dad used to own a Heating and AC business and got a lot of his supplies from Granger who sponsored Greg Biffle in the truck series. My dad let me come with to a event for the business owners and that's how I met Greg Biffle.
I was lucky enough to meet Dale Earnhardt in ‘99 or 2000… I was young and barely remember anything other than a crowd and his hand on my shoulder but I have a die cast car he signed and a picture… I also remember my older brother almost crying like a fan girl but that’s his story, not mine lol
I love it when pros give love to their fans... There would likely be NO racing if nobody paid to hit the stands, OR watch.. Pros sometimes forget where they came from... Mad respect to those who haven't...
5:54 Bowman replaced Dale Jr. in 2018 not '17, but still an awesome video, I remember at the Bristol Night Race in 2019 Erik Jones nearly hit me with a golf cart.
I've been able to see a lot of drivers up close but as far as meeting and getting to talk to a driver, I met Jeff Gordon at one of his celebrity poker tournaments in Las Vegas years ago. I was standing outside the door with one of his diecast and a new sharpie and he walked past me probably 4 times before finally stopping and grabbing the car out of my hand to autograph it, my sharpie took a minute to work because it was a new one, I could tell he was a little irritated about that. NASCAR used to come to Vegas during the offseason for pre-season testing & it was there that I saw lots of drivers but I actually got to talk to Kasey Kahne, Ken Schrader, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr & Ron Hornaday. Pretty awesome experience...
In 2016 I went to my first nascar race and me and my family were trying to get into the pits but we weren’t allowed and then Casey mears came up behind us and saw the conversation and asked us were we are from (were from New Zealand) once he knew about this he told security that we were with him and took us through security into the pits. Best day ever
I dont remember what season it was but my grandmother designed a livery for Jeff Gordon when they were doing a livery competition and she had a plus one and brought me along. I was a fan of JG when I first started watching it as a kid so to meet my nascar hero was amazing
I didn't personally have an interaction, but back in August Kyle Busch was at a go kart track less than two miles away from where I go to college, unfortunately I was on summer break. I think a couple of years ago the Dillon brothers were in Illinois hunting during the fall and they were doing it within 30 miles of where I live as well
In the Auto Club Speedway race this year, I had the pit pass. Not only did I get to see Danny Trejo up close for the first time, I almost accidentally bumped into Austin Dillon.
I met Morgan Shepard at his racing merchandise store in Hickory NC in 1996. He ran us off because we wasn't there to actually buy anything, we just wanted to meet him. LOL!!!!! My friend was mad but I didn't care about racing back then.
I mean, not a driver but at the Coca Cola 600 in 2018 when we were heading to our seats, someone noticed us in our Kyle Busch merchandise, and it was no other than his and Kurt’s mom, I even got a hero card signed by her
I unfortunately didn’t get to meet any NASCAR drivers, but i got close to meeting Robby Gordon in 2018 during contingency for an Off-Road race, but he was pre running with his son

Thinking about that time it snowed at Bristol and Michael Waltrip was protecting himself from snowballs with an umbrella
😂
😂😂😂

That’s one of my favorite red flag moments
LOL
met the intimidator himself once a year or two before he passed although i was quite young.
what a legend he was
Dude, same.
He was doing a signing/meet and greet thing I think and all I really remember of him is him putting his hand on my shoulder for a picture (it felt heavy as 4-5 year old lol) but I have a picture and a signed die-cast (his pink Victoria no-less cause “haha-pink”) to remember it by
I got to meet Dale Jr, I would have loved to meet Sr aswell

"i heard hes single too" im glad alex has such a nice sense of humor, almost reminds me of steve byrnes, got picked on alot but took it in stride

At Chicagoland in 2018 I met dale jr in the pits before the race. Seemed like a humble guy
at bristol i met brad keslowski when his golfcart almost ran me over after i stumbled into the road
Love the vids gator! keep up the work.
Got to meet ole Chase Elliott and Bill Elliott a couple years ago. Was a very small racetrack in south Ga. Amazing experience tho.
These are so wholesome
I met Tony Stewart when he drove the 14 at Staples store a couple years ago. I Had the chance to meet Joey Logano when he drove 20 at a home depot but didn't get to go. I live by Auto Club Speedway
I’ve never met a nascar driver but me and my dad went to the texas fall race early this year and we were going into the track and saw Daniel Suarez walk buy us
I've met Kyle Busch multiple times, I've also met Elliott Sadler, David Gilliland, And although I never met and had a autograph, but Timothy Peters gave me his Red Horse Racing hat he was wearing during driver intro in Vegas in 2012 and said "Here u go buddy" and tossed it up to me
I met 7-time JJ in 2014 at New Hampshire . He signed a car for me and that was about it
Richard petty
2017 Chicagoland race he was in the garage and we had garage passes and happened to have a pretty long conversation with him.
I saw Kasey Kahne at the Hendrick garage about 10 years ago, and I’ll never forget him giving me a dumbfounded look for some reason as he walked into a staff only room.
I have met a few drivers over the years. I have met AJ Allmendinger, Kenny Wallace, and Reed Sorenson.
I got both Kyle bush and Adam Steven's autographs before the 2019 auto club, Was actually the last autograph of Stevens before getting on the pitbox
I met Richard Petty earlier this year at an event near his hometown
I got to meet Ernie Irvan, Ken Schrader, and Kenny Wallace at a dirt track near me in CA. I was probably 9 or 10 years old, but my dad told me all three guys were the coolest and acted like just regular guys, especially Irvan when he found out we were from the same hometown as he was.
I've never met a driver in person, but did run into Dale Earnhardt Jr on iRacing one time
I met plenty of drivers when Zak Racing was a NASCAR sponsor, long story short my mother managed houses for him and we would get hot passes. I remember meaning Corey LaJoie, he was always friendly and amazing to be around we got to tour his hauler
Mine was Lagano we met him when he was driving out of the parking lot at dover
went to the Brickyard 400 in 2001.
The closes I’ve got is doing a Q&A with Gray Gaulding over zoom.
I was lucky enough to meet Dale Earnhardt in ‘99 or 2000… I was young and barely remember anything other than a crowd and his hand on my shoulder but I have a die cast car he signed and a picture…
I also remember my older brother almost crying like a fan girl but that’s his story, not mine lol
I love it when pros give love to their fans... There would likely be NO racing if nobody paid to hit the stands, OR watch.. Pros sometimes forget where they came from... Mad respect to those who haven't...
“Someone important”. They’re just humans…just like you and me. They just have a unique job…
I like the radio hack moment back in the Coca-Cola 600 in 2018 along with Bubba Wallace playing football with the fans at the fan stand!
5:54 Bowman replaced Dale Jr. in 2018 not '17, but still an awesome video, I remember at the Bristol Night Race in 2019 Erik Jones nearly hit me with a golf cart.
Well that would be funny way to go out getting hit by a nascar driver driving a golf cart
@@Joseph_Ochoa. Yeah Definitely.
As long as NASCAR runs analog radios, broadcast intrusions will always be possible.
Awesome video keep up the good work
The most famous driver I’ve met is Richard Petty, but the interaction(s) I’ve favored is meeting Jeff Gordon in both of our home states of Indiana
the most famous driver you've met? dude that's the most famous Nascar driver!
I met Joey Logano at Zmax Dragway in Concord, NC. Not at a NASCAR race but a drag race. He was hanging out with Jeg Coughlin.
Mine was Harrison burton in 2020 now he is my favorite driver
I dont remember what season it was but my grandmother designed a livery for Jeff Gordon when they were doing a livery competition and she had a plus one and brought me along. I was a fan of JG when I first started watching it as a kid so to meet my nascar hero was amazing
I was at a race and Blaney was the only one to sign my hat. Such a nice guy
I didn't personally have an interaction, but back in August Kyle Busch was at a go kart track less than two miles away from where I go to college, unfortunately I was on summer break. I think a couple of years ago the Dillon brothers were in Illinois hunting during the fall and they were doing it within 30 miles of where I live as well
Things you love to see
Fan Interactions!
I once met Bill elliot in the pits of Atlanta speedway, he was super nice and gave me a autograph
