In the 1970's I had the chance to have a testride on the Belgian racetrack of Zolder on a CBX 1000. It was out of this world: not just incredibly fast (for the era) but the most beautiful 'soundtrack' EVER by a stock motorcycle!
For me and many many others, this was the best sounding engine ever........I was born in 1960, so I grew up through what I'd call the 'golden years'. I never owned one but I rode one a few times. I had the Honda 750 four, and many others....... A great bike, when motorcycle's were fixed by their owners.
@@andreferro4618 ...Hi @Andre Ferro....We were certainly born at the right time to the best motorcycle's and music but not for world wide truth and transparency. Unfortunately for us and the rest of the world that was the beginning of the big lie and the alien agenda and all it's wonders went underground. If only President Kennedy wasn't assassinated, our world today would be so different. We wouldn't be relying on oil for one and those that keep us enslaved wouldn't be around. Take care my friend. @@nojnoj3069 I feel honored by your response! Not only we are brothers motorcyclists but we also have the same approach to life. I really believe that we human beings are adjusting basic things that can never be changed. It's just a period of time that is about to end, maybe very soon. Some things will be a little bit different after that but the basic meaning of life will keep pointing to the same good values of life that brought the good part of human beings where we have always been. I mean, GOOD will defeat EVIL, for sure! I DO BELIEVE that it's going to happen this way! I suppose you are an American and I would like to tell you that my son (who has a 1985 HONDA VF 1000 R and a 1984 KAWASAKI Gpz 900 R), daughter, son in law (which is also an American...) and two grandchildren, live in Florida. Yes I was born in the 1960s I had cbx 1150 it wanted to kill me every second of every minute and every day but you no what it was the best bike of it's time I had a 6 into 1 Yoshi the best sound any bike could have had the good old days
Wow, it's a nice motor. Really I like this type of old motor. in this time it's can't buy. I want a motor like this.thanks for you to make this type of video for the next generation.
Very nice CBX. Hard to find late 70's/early 80's sport bikes in good condition. Not quite stock; but I would love to have it! PS - love all the experts on various You Tube motorcycle videos with the "valve noise" comments. Don't know what to listen for and probably not alive when it was made. So; they don't know what they are hearing. No comments allowed if you haven't had to adjust a shim-on-bucket cam system on at least one bike you have owned.
Tip of the day: I used Yamaha Voyager shims in my CBX's. The Yamaha shims, while the same diameter, are available in thicknesses between the numbers available with the Honda shims, allowing the tuner to adjust the valve clearance more closely to optimum. Yeah, I had a couple of Z-1's with "shim-under-bucket" conversions; they ran great, and I didn't have to worry about "tiddly-winking" a shim out at high RPM, but they were a real pain to keep in tune.
I think you have a little bit more to worry about than valve clearances when your engine sounds like a bucket of marbles is rolling around inside it, I don't care what you say.
I have extensive miles on similar CBX in absolutely perfect running condition. You are absolutely correct. This CBX has serious tuning and/or wear problems. It's impossible to know if internal wear is an issue till the tuning issues are totally sorted. The air box must be re-installed, and all normal tuning items addressed, and then the carbs must be properly jetted. Any street bike lacking it's OEM air box is fail. The fact the poster recorded this video and posted it appears to confirm he has no idea how putrid sounds his/her bike. Too bad.
Seems to be Keihin FCR 33mm carbs on this one. Have the same setup on one of my CBX's. The slides in the carbs produce a pretty loud rattle sound when engine is idling, even when the carbs are new. Rattling disappear when air flow through the carbs increase. Nice bike by the way!

Notice the Death Skull configuration of the instrument cluster? Honda's literature at the time claimed the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom was the inspiration for the design features, including incorporating a spinner into the exhaust to recreate the sound of an F-4 turbo jet, not an F1 race car.
It's cold from the sound of it and these old bikes have LOUD cam chains and will make noise under 1.5k rpm. My GPz 750 did this too even with a chain tensioner. Once warmed it goes away. It's rather normal. And by the shape it's in i'm sure he knows the difference between valves and a chain.
This bike needs the Kirker 6 into 1 header and pipe(NO BAFFLES) then it will sound proper. Every body ran those back in the day. I had one on my Z-1903 Kawasaki. Man what a sound.
Could of fooled me, I figured it for loud cam chain at idle. A lot of bikes from that era are known from that and most have some sort of engine noise which people aren't used to today.

Beautiful bike . One of my favorites ever made .
Whoa, Honda sure did make interesting and badass motorcycles back then !
+Canada Bob Now they just make sportbikes that are generic and boring like every other manufacturer today. Nobody makes interesting bikes anymore.
Two words come to mind when I saw (and heard) this bike...BAD ASS!!!
I've seen some beauty CBX's in my time, this ranks right up there.
Awesome!!

Wooooow!!!what a awesome engine!!! Like a T-rex,the king!!!
Not only adjust shim/bucket, but if memory serves, you had to drop the motor to get to them.

That rattle you can hear is the flat slide carbs, thier renowned for it
back in the day, i derided these bikes as rice rockets. nowadays, i see the appeal. i had a 75 750 kawi for a short time and i wish i still had it!
Beautiful!!!

Finalmente la vi en una Expo y es hermosa
Your valves sound lovely.
What do you mean? What valves?
It's the flatslides, it's a characteristic of them
ISpray Candy I know, that's why I asked.
ERH NO , having owned one ,, I can tell you its the clutch
+dre5491 it's the flatslides Einstein not the valves. Better to keep quiet and appear ignorant than open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Nice sound!!!!!!
i love this bike
Just perfect 👌🏻
Very pretty and beautiful! ❤👌

Love it
was it the clutch basket that made all the noise; had a 79. I wonder if they addressed it ever or if there is a fix.
This does sound like an F1, an F1 fron the 1980's turbo era.

Now that's a bike she looks mint.
you know it's damn hard to keep it mint..
