@@vinnyl264It shouldn’t matter. The fact that a player gets 100% is meaningless if all the greater players didn’t. It creates an illusion of superiority that isn’t justified. That said, he is first ballot worthy.
Why is no one stepping up and saying racism plain and simple? Heyman saying “oversight” is just sweeping it under the rug and giving cover to his cowardly colleague
I take a kinder view as calling someone racist is a bold step. Maybe you're right, but I prefer to think it is someone gatekeeping as a massive Yankee fan and doesn't want anyone but Rivera being 100%. Still wrong of course, but not as corrosive as racism.
nah, I don't think so, cause other great players didn't get the unanimous vote either. IF he didn't get in on his first year eligible you can make a case for it.
Well Hank Aaron didn't get 100% and he's as unanimous a HOF as you can be. Besides 75% and you're in. Tiptoing or going full throttle or backflipping to the endzone it's a touchdown all the same.
Okay obviously some racism there. One guy not being unanimous doesn't mean another guy shouldn't be unanimous. They made a mistake back then. They don't need to make that same mistake over again.
I never understand how youre not a HOF in year 1 but year 7 you are. Should just be you vote for who you want no 10 limit. And as time goes on they are gunna bring the HOF legacy down with making it the Hall of Very Good.
Just imagine if a writer thought hey I don’t want this guy to get unanimous votes so I’m gonna vote against this guy but several other writers were also thinking the same thing so guys like Griffey and Ichiro only got like 20% votes or something 😝
The Dodgers have taken pages out of the old Yankees playbook, a lot them, in signing the top players, particularly the prime Asian players. They're probably the odds on favorite to win the National League championship and the World Series again in 2025.
I think the argument that players like Ruth and DiMaggio weren’t unanimous, therefore no one deserves to be is dumb, but at least it’s an argument. But at this point, we’ve had a unanimous selection, so what’s the issue? Mariano was amazing, but he doesn’t deserve to be the ONLY unanimous member of the Hall.
@@pjscafe ny writers don’t care about that. They definitely all would vote for inchiro. Even Jeter wasn’t unanimous, so it was probably the same clown and did it both times
The truth is Ichiro had an amazing historic rookie year, then was the biggest star on terrible teams, then spent the better part of a decade collecting stats and contributing little to his teams other then ticket sales. Ya'll need a reality check.
Tony Gwynn should have been unanimous and nobody brings that up enough because he was a west coast player
i think it's because he wasn't so close to it. He missed it by like 10 votes right?
Absolutely agree

No one in LA wants Scherzer who refused to pitch years ago and indirectly caused Buehler to get injured
Who didn't vote for Greg Maddux?
Dipshits

They were racist against Jeter too

Make a list of votes and race for inductees. Not "racism".. you're an idiot.
Racist … yawn. Were they racist against all the better white players that didn’t get 100%? Juvenile comment.
Voting should go to fans and ex players managers and executives each have a share of voting
Fans are clueless and the Players, etc. Have show they're historically worse. You are very misdirected
No, that’s replacing one crappy system with another.
23 Guys didnt vote for Willie Mays........Babe Ruth wasnt Unanimous....Boggles the mind
The only important % is 75.

Yes but the fact that Mariano Rivera got 100% and Hank Aaron didn’t is just unacceptable.

It’s pass/fail. The ONLY meaningful % is 75.
It took Joe D years just to get in...
That one person should never be eligible to vote again
Ichiro has a near flawless career in the MLB and a flawless NPB career.

i hope they find out the coward who voted against Ichiro. Must be a NY writer, has to be.
definitely NOT a NY writer ... NY loved ichiro, and he even played for the Yankees too...
New York writers would never vote against Ichiro, get real 🤔😆
@ Since Mariano was the only unanimous HOF, it makes sense they don't want Ichiro in since he's a Mariners.

It’s no big deal. If all the greater players didn’t get 100%; it’s not important. What is important is that he’s in, and rightfully.
Kershaw is being groomed to become a pitching coach.

Even if you’re right, he still had to be good enough to collect all those stats and gold gloves.
@@ron88303 That's also true. I also think he belongs in the HOF
