Finally someone who has a lot of credibility in the shooting world showing just what a capable calibre is, and not just a "kids gun". It's all I use on game and a lot on pigeons. Thanks Dave 👍
Great film Dave. Some 20 years ago I bought a 28g from Avalon Guns to use on partridge. 32" barrels full and full. Kill or miss. Great little gun. Once I got used to it I took it out on some very good pheasants and was very surprised by what it could do. Now my favourite caliber. I believe I used to shoot clays alongside of you pal Desperate in Buckinghamshire. What a character. Thanks again and keep em coming.
Great Video, my first gun was a 28 ga. single shot Beretta which my father gave to me when I was nine. . My first hunt was a dove hunt only killed one dove but it was uphill ever since . Now Im 70 and have trained a son and grandsons how to shoot. I still have it and it has seen many of hunts.
Top notch Dave. You really started to get in the groove with the Blaser; I especially liked the move at 7:41 where you pulled off of one incomer and went for a higher and wider crosser....well shot! Those 28's work really well on birds and clays within reasonable distances and I've always seen them to pattern well, something about a 'square load' with the height of the shot column in the shell in relation to the bore diameter which makes them efficient. It looked like a great day with some really good shooting and banter. Thanks for this one, take care and best regards as always, Ed.
As a matter of fact I took a few pheasants recently in Pennsylvania with a 28 gauge sbs. Great little caliber as you said. Almost impossible to get ammo here in the States with useful size shot at the moment. You really did look comfortable on that last drive. Thank you for sharing another great outing with us. Hope you're all doing well.
@@georgesakellaropoulos8162 Hi George. When I said useful shot size that was in reference to hunting. For me that's #6 and larger in lead. Not seeing any in the stores around here yet. I'm still in good shape for another season or two.
@@danhill6333 I have found 7 1/2 and 8 very useful on doves, quail, and grouse. At ranges under 35 yards, 7 1/2 does well on pheasants, too. Number 6 shot has served me well on rabbits and squirrels, too.
Great video Dave and you show what the smaller gauges can do! I love 28 and plan to be there in October 2022 to shoot partridges myself. Really well done!
I shot Whitfield , the last drive a partridges off the moor . They were screaming down the valley with a good wind behind them . Probably the best shooting I’ve ever had , loved it . You’ll have a cracking day
Mr. Carrie, sir. Perhaps I missed it in the video, but do recall the constriction(s) in the Browning you used in the last drive? Brilliant video. I find delight in the fellowship and laughter you and your pals share together. -Jon
Well done Dave this video has been long over due demonstrating the capabilities of the 28 gauge. If you recall you tried my Blaser on clays over three years ago now at Rufforth and shot it very well indeed I hope you continue to use this calibre in the future as you clearly enjoyed it on your partridge day.
Great video, Dave. Love shooting with lighter bores and that was a lovely little Browning you had. I'm thinking of getting the 20 bore for partridges and walking up. Great to see what a small bore gun can do in the hands of someone that can shoot. And |Dave can shoot! I have a friend that only shoots 28 bore and really puts most 12 bore shooters to shame. Thanks!
Great video to watch Dave! Glad you enjoyed the 28. People often understate these smaller calibres but in reality they will kill just as well at reasonable ranges. I mostly shoot my 20 gauge on game days now but one lad used a 28 last weekend with 25g of 6 shot and to be honest the birds he killed where fantastic even at range. Keep up the good work Dave and let’s see a video with the 20 as well. I know your daughter loves shooting that calibre and in my opinion can compete with the 12 in many situations given the right cartridge and choke. I certainly do just as well with mine against the 12 gauge guys even on the ducks!
Fuck sake haven't seen that hooligan since we shot together in Wales in the 80's, there was always 45 quid up for grabs on the first pidgeon shot to dismay of the keeper. Awesome video. I bought a kofs 28b for my missus last season to get her into shooting and it’s now my favourite shotgun in the cabinet. Didn’t know Blaser did a 28b might trade my Blaser high rib in for one.
United Kingdom. The empire of great gunners. We met 3 Para in Cyprus. Those gentlemen were superb shotgunners too. We just ever so slightly beat them on falling plates with rifles. How come you're using Hellfire in the first half, which is a red cartridge, then at 10:31 and 9:50 you ejected a white cartridge? Special load for you then? Yet to see a 28 bore cartridge that's white.
