That was a good idea to move the gasoline to the back seat area. some jocks from my highschool back in 1963 were burned to death in one of them , they were jocks so no one really missed em, and we got a day off but kind of had to go to the funeral, but we made the best of it anyway.

yup- it's another 'listen to how my Harley engine idles with almost no oil pressure", Lots of Harley owners confuse decibels with horsepower.
With that said, the Harley Evolution engine can produce about 55 horsepower. I got a feeling we didn't see it move because he couldn't get the thing to launch off the line with any proficiency; which means they got work to do on the drive train.

one would think that on the basis of the engine mod alone this would score highly on originality but obviously the Harley Davidson motor is not the main feature here...priceless...!

My dad and I used to work on his bug. We used to take the engine out ourselves, it only weighed 225lbs. We put a new dashboard in that showed the oil temp, techometer, and so forth. We put two two barrel Hollies on it, custom Bosch fuel pump and installed fog lamps. I want to get my hands on one to fix it up when this madness is over.

    • @Flies2FLL
      @Flies2FLL 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@calimilk1113 An oil cooler can only do so much. He needs some sort of hidden electric fan setup underneath the car to channel forced air towards the barrels and the heads. That's not hard to do, but he will have to set up some sort of deflectors to guide the air toward the fins. Good answer!

Air ram scoops above the rear fenders with ducting directing air blast onto and over the engine. Highway speed and speed over 30mph will ram cooling air over and across the cylinders.
An additional strong 12v fan that is ducted to concentrate air blast would cool the cylinders when not moving, or under 30mph.

The most powerful Beetle engine in '68 was a 1.5 litre that had 53hp, the very weakest Harley twin-cam engine (the 88ci) was 55hp.
The VW might have originally had the 1.2 litre, with 36hp, and the Harley engine might be a 103 Twin-cam, with 75hp.
I've got a 2016 Harley, and it's done 50,000km so far, with no issue. They're not as bad as they were.

The Harley Evolution doesn't leak oil like the old Shovel head did I bought my 86 FLHT new in 1986 and it has a 100,000 original miles never rebuilt and still doesn't leak oil . Stock engine other than free flowing mufflers and a S&S Super E that's jetted correctly with the S&S intake . These were the first HD V twins that could go a 100,000 or more before needing to be rebuilt unlike the older engines heck some of the newer Twin cams don't even last that long because of timing chain tensioner issues and oil pump problems associated with the cam tensioner grinding down and clogging the oil pump plus fly wheels that come loose and go out of balance because they are press fit and not either welded or bolted tight where the Evolution doesn't have these problems .

Cute. Does it move or is it just an expensive grill?

One of the proposed engines for the prototype Beetles was a turbo V-twin...I think.

There’s no way. That motor will hit 300+ degrees in 8 minutes with that hatch closed and no air running through the fins.

Only one recomendation find some way to cool the motor, like a fan or ram air duct. The jump up in horse power is almost twice what powered it originally, nice!

Como haces para transmitir la tracción a las ruedas? Saludos

    I actually want to do this with a 2004 Beetle ultima & Harley’s newer 86hp 114 cubic inch 1,870cc Milwaukee 8 engine.
It’s a big jump in horsepower & cool factor.
I would also get one of those clear hoods for the engine g run some LED’s to light it up

I’m tryna figure out how he mated the case to the transmission. That’s probably the hardest part. Would be easier to take a Bmw k100 or R1200 engine and shaft drive and mate it up

Does the transaxle hold up with this vibration?

But is it attached to a transmission and will it go on the road?

Deve ser legal e bem interessante fazer isso com um Gurgel BR-800, o carrinho é bem leve, e o motor fica na dianteira que favorece a refrigeração, e só dar uma depenadinha na frente do carrinho, ai ele fica refrigerado.

Yeah, I was thinking the same (cooling problem ). It's still kinda cool though, with about the same horsepower as the original engine.
