I laugh at all this Carmelo criticism. Carmelo can average 20+ points easily in a season. He rebounds. He has the IQ to be a starter. There are a ton of players who are only certain skill type players in the league. His game has limitations like most players. If he gets bought out by OKC, plenty of teams will try to sign him. So if he was garbage why would they want him on their team???

In his prime, Melo's only strength was scoring. Now, he even struggles to do that. Theres not one aspect of his game thats above average, except maybe contested midrange jumpshots. He struggles to finish through contact, not a great 3 pt shooter, never been a playmaker for his teammates, always been a bad defender.... Why do you want melo on your team at this point? You can find plenty of guys to jack up 15 midrange shots a game at a 40% clip if thats what you're looking for.
Jarod Rochell Exactly! He was fed wide open shots and couldn't knock them down. If the reality is he needs to be fed iso's & postups all day inorder to be effective, then he's no longer very efficient & of much use to anybody in the league. And that's on him.

Doug's hands down the best analyst. Excellent point about Jimmer. Grayson needs to be a little bit tougher to stay in the league because his athletic ability doesn't give him an automatic edge. Melo has Allen Iverson “itis”. He’s on the tail end of his career but he wants to be considered a centerpiece of a potentially contending team. If his attitude doesn’t change he will spend the duration of his career in relative obscurity as an NBA journeymen.
A championship caliber team like GSW may be the best fit for Melo. They already have an established culture of winning at the highest level of which Melo knows nothing about as a pro. The constant ball movement, 3 point shooting, and addition of Boogie in the middle could be the recipe for Melo to extend his career another another 3-4 years. GSW does have a history of resurrecting players careers who were on the verge of being booted from the league.

He's still in the league because he's a phenomenal passer, impressive instigator of the offense, has a high basketball IQ, is battle tested in the playoffs hence the name "Playoff Rondo", and has led the league in assists on 3 different occasions.

I don't have as much of a problem with Carmelo wanting to remain a starter as everyone else does.
My issue with Melo is his rigid, inflexible style of play. He's a volume shooter who needs at least 15-20 iso's a game to effectively put up 20pts. That isn't good, yet he seems to think there's a place for him in the league with his diminishing athleticism playing like that...smh.
If he could ever restructure his game to being a perimeter sharphooter, rather than a postup & iso player the league would have so much use for him, but he has an inflated idea of his game & won't budge from it apparently.
I think he'll end up in Houston if it's just for vet minimum, because Chris Paul is one of the few players that may be able to convince Melo to adjust to a role; and as they said in the vid Houston already has a defined culture for him to conform to.
People still dissing on Melo... so sad. Melo is still a star scorer, but just doesn't get the respect he deserves. Harden doesn't play defense and he won MVP... logic?
