Brian May was sent the video and he reposted it with just the words ENJOY so I do believe it got the official Brian May approval!
Avi is a basso profound which is richer and more fuller bass with lower notes as well (Avi can and has blown out speakers when live on stage). Matt is a musical theatre, contemporary, pop/jazz bass with really good range. they're just two different, yet equally amazing, types of bass singers!
I definitely agree with you about missing Avi. Matt is good but Avi I felt like gave PTX a fuller sound with his tone and range (and overtone singing). Mitch actually does the guitar sound without the megaphone and that was just used as a prop. You can watch them do it live (there are a few videos on here of them doing it live) and no megaphone but he still pulls it off!
Some of my favorite PTX songs that I don't think you have done yet: Love Again, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Run to You, Can't Help Falling in Love, White Winter Hymnal, Sing, Somebody that I Used to Know, and Say Something
As good as Avi is, I think Matt is just as great in his own way. I can’t see Avi doing some of the newer PTX songs.
@@df5199 I totally hear what you are saying. I like Matt and what he's brought to the group, but I am still partial to the overall tone and the fullness of it they had with Avi. They just seem to be missing some of the depth they had with Avi. Matt is very good and he definitely fits the group well so I still listen to all their new stuff, but I have two playlists for PTX, one with everything and one with my favorites of theirs, and I have far more stuff with Avi on that than I do with Matt. That could be for so many reasons more than just who their bass is... but yeah

The megaphone is a prop. Mitch doesn't use it in concert
Yes, if Mitch had actually used a real megaphone then they would no longer b an a cappella group. You can’t have any type of vocal enhancement. Other than microphones, but they only enhance volume, not performance. I don’t know why he found it funny either.
Pentatonix is able to do what even the great Freddie Mercury and Queen couldn’t do, which is perform the entire song-even the operatic break-live. Queen had to rely on a recorded track to fill out the operatic segment because the original restoring was so layered.
According to the group, fans wanted this song for years and it took six years for them to feel as if they could finally do it justice. They were very meticulous in paying homage to the original. The panning of the vocals on certain parts was exactly as was done in the original. The laying on the couch near the end with the overhead shot was an homage to Queen’s Sheer Heart Attack album cover. The four shooting starts represent the four members of Queen and are also a nod to the fact that Brian May is an Astro-physicist.
The couch was an homage to their own history; when their earliest videos were shot sitting on a couch with the Trio in the back and Kevin and Avi in front, then they’re suddenly on the move, representing their journey so far…and then ultimately coming back to where it all started, showing that, no matter how far they travel, they still remember where they come from and how it all began…just the five of them sat on a couch, singing.
The couch has a huge meaning for them. Once dropped by Sony, they used to gather together on their couch, videotaped themselves singing and downloading it on TH-cam. They sat many a times on their couch and the couch moving forward is a meaning of them moving forward in their careers too. BTW, first, PTX try to be as good as they can to the original songs but add a little of PTX (which is what makes them famous and very wealthy). Second, they do NOT need any instruments to do their videos and they make sure that whatever they do in their videos, they can do on stage live, in concert. Hence, Mitch using a megaphone. On stage he does the same thing, without one. So I'm not sure why it's so funny. If there is any instruments, like Kevin playing the cello while beatboxing, that cello will be in their video as well as on stage. They've paid tribute to Freddy Mercury and also to Brian May in this video. It's up to you to find out what they've done for that. Guitar and stars are hints. To add to this, I did NOT like Queen's version and some of their pre-recorded parts but I've listened to PTX doing it and have listened to it countless times. I like PTX's version better.
PENTATONIX does not do covers, they do 'upgrades'. I heard that about them. Seems to be true :D

Actually, if you listen to Queen with headphones you will see that it also goes from ear to ear.

I grew up hearing the original and actually got sick of it cause they played it on the radio every 10 minutes (not literally) . I've come to appreciate it again and think PTX did a good job. La La Latch is a favorite of mine as is Rather Be.

Black reactors are on average so much superior to their white counterparts. Hope that doesn’t come across as racist but the truth is while there are some decent white reactors but on average just not on a par with black reactors who seem to have a rhythm that a guy like this so sadly lacks.

I’m black, and even I had to take a minute there. Look brother, I sincerely do understand what you mean by the rhythm component, but that is certainly not a trait specific to “black reactors”. I’ve seen all types, including black folks with absolutely no taste or rhythm and white folks with more rhythm than even I have. Some reactors are simply not everyone’s “cup of tea”, for lack of a better description.
Know the best thing about that? There’s nothing wrong with it. We are all privy to who we vibe with, and one of the best things about TH-cam is that you have a very wide selection to choose from. Find your preference man, no need to put anyone down.

@@justinperry13 Thank you, I was about to unleash his own idiocy back on him. Then I read your response, and said, just shut up, Justin took care of it the best way. I"m glad you took the high road.I don't agree with Shay on this one, but that's his opinion, I have mine, and I have agreed completely with him in the past, and i"m sure I will in the future. Why some people insist on having such a bad attitude, I will never understand, and don't want to. But I don't mind telling them just how stupid they are acting.
