    Black Thought admitted in another interview that "What They Do" sONG was about Biggie because he thought Biggie diss him on Flava in Ya Ear remix. Then he later found out that Big was not dissing him, and he said he felt like a idiot. Why is he back tracking?

    • @PPHDocumentaries
      @PPHDocumentaries ปีที่แล้ว +14

      The interview i saw, he clearly said Biggie. He even said he called Puffy to see if Big was really talking about him and Puff told him no, Big was talking about the Gooch from the TV show a Different Strokes. That`s why Big said invisible bully. The gooch was a invisible bully in some episodes of Different Strokes.

      I saw that same interview and know what you're talking about. Yea, he def back tracking. I'm also not sure how Talib didn't see it as a diss back then. It was obvious they were making fun of One More Chance. Especially with all the subtitles they had.

    Can we also recognize that Black Thought also had a history of being in the streets but he raps about that life differently. So Black Thought has the credibility to mock rappers who are not about that life just as much as any street rapper.

    B.I.G got offended by the "What They Do" video by The Roots & then Tupac got offended by the "Paparazzi" lyrics by Xzibit. I think the biggest rappers & MC's during that time got offended easily because they were at the top of their Game. They felt like they constantly had a target on their backs because of their fortune, fame, exposure & popularity. I know Tupac certainly got offended by A LOT of people including Ice Cube & Westside Connection dropping "Bow Down" while he was in jail. He even said in an interview stating, "Why you wait for when I'm in jail to make people Bow Down to you"? He thought that it was strategical but honestly I truly believe Cube, WC & Mack 10 just so happened to feel that way & it was just an unfortunate coincidence he happened to be in jail. The timing was off & I'm sure Cube didn't gaf who was or wasn't in jail because that's just what he, WC & Mack-10 felt at the time. I don't believe it was strategical at all. That's just how it went down. These Rappers & MC's just got easily offended because they didn't understand the motive or story behind the song. They were just trying to make a hit record & sell units at the time (just like Biggie & Pac) & that was just the pulse of the culture at that time. Ras Kass was on the come up too trying to solidify his stance & position in Hip Hop as well. All of these Rappers & MC's were trying to figure out their place in Hip Hop & the Industry. It was a learning curve & they just got caught up in the drama & the hype.

That is, unless you're lacking in reading comprehension skills? I'm hoping you just "overlooked" the fact that I actually typed that he was "in jail". I've quite LITERALLY heard the specific interview where he RANTS about Westside Connection dropping "Bow Down". Were you alive or even born in 96'?

    "I'm sick of bitches shakin' asses
    I'm sick of talkin' 'bout blunts, sick of Versace glasses
    Sick of slang, sick of half-ass awards shows
    Sick of name-brand clothes

    What is everyone talking about? It wasn't a diss to gangsta rap. It was clearly a diss to player rap, which of course big was doing with one more chance. Gangsta rap never did the flashy stuff. This was very specific to what Puff was doing at the time, and anyone else who tried to pull off that corny crap. A bunch of NY rappers renting Mansions, cars, jewelry, all the pretty girls in the videos, rapping about being a player. From Puff to BIG to Pun to even Mic Geronimo (well his corny song came out in 98). The fact that they are saying gangsta rap is just extremely weird and flat out wrong. And a lie to say it wasn't a direct diss to BIG.
