Thank you for this. I was able to get it open (three times). Found a screwdriver with a long shaft and put it in over the long lever and under the little latch beneath, then jammed around until it released. Sadly, when I then closed the lift gate, it returned to its unopenable state.
Tried again. This time after getting it open, I left the liftgate open, then pulled fuses F57 and F78 for one minute, replaced, started van, closed with ceiling button. All good now.
Any relapses since you pulled the fuses? I took our 2017 to the dealership (after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment), and their only idea was to replace the latch assembly. $350 parts + labor = $700+. I just brought the van home after arguing for them to drop the $150 "diagnostic" fee since their were no actual diagnostics performed.
So far so good,@@indianapolisindiana7856. I'm sorry it hasn't worked for you and that the dealer is charging so much. On another forum somebody said a firmware update might help this issue; I don't know how one checks to see if their firmware is current.
I feel your pain. We've been struggling with this on our 2017 for the last couple months. Did you ever figure yours out? That was so helpful thank you very much

You have any luck figuring out your issue? I'm struggling with the same thing on my 2017.
Good job homie!
