In my last BECMI campaign, one of the players was a werebear, another was a werefox, another was a Merchant Prince, and yet another had the shaman secondary class. Wasn't THAT hard to keep track of. :P (I will note that I totally revamped the xp progression for the lycans, though. They require WAY too much xp as written to be worth it.)
Awesome content. Just got into D and D with a few friends. I'm about to start my own campaign and your Videos have been very helpful to listen to in the background while I'm typing up my adventure. Very unique channel, wish you got more attention for your hard work.
"Remember, demi-humans die from Lycanthropy. They don't turn into werewolves, werebears or anything else. They turn into corpses." Why am I suddenly thinking about demi-human _werecorpses_ ?
Multi-classing in 1st edition? We are still talking about Mystara, which was created as a BD&D vehicle. (BD&D; for not being AD&D.). To the best of my knowledge, that didn't have multi-classing.
If I ever run this I am going to add a variant of the shark that can walk on land. Disappointed it wasn’t already I’m the book but if you want a job done right you have to do it yourself.
@@Mr_Welch Ah! Got it. I know that the whole XP thing is pain, but in one of my last campaigns the wizard of the party contracted lycanthropy and he kinda liked it. Especially once he became immune to normal weapons. It got to a little hilarious at times because he’d wade into combat against humanoids and every time I’d hit he’d ask, “was that a magic weapon?” The trick for gaining XP would be trying to spend as much time in werewolf form as possible. With the party having a Ranger, most civilians assumed he was a large wolf. I did impose a strict rule he couldn’t hang out in were-form in large cities, though. Otherwise, I like the rules. It was a nice addition for human players.

Never thought I would see brick top in one your videos nice job Welchy
I totally agree with you about Beorn
I used devil swine in my Ravenloft campaign based off Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Worked like gangbusters. Fantastic.
Now, if a male Mystaran were fox were to enter Ravenloft, that would cause quite a stir.
but why?
@@0den in Ravenloft, were foxes are female only
@@docnecrotic Sounds like a dream for a palette swap Pepé Le Pew.
@@EvilDoresh doesn't even have to be a swap. We never saw a female skunk in Looney Tunes for all we know they might be equal opportunity horndogs
“Do you know what nemesis means?”
I tried NHs as a DM back in the 90’s and my head didn’t explode. Well, I’m bald but...

I spend three days out of the month dead
@@Mr_Welch Is it for tax purposes?
@@Mr_Welch That is until you've gained enough experience. _Then_ you can drop dead _every_ night!

The rules only appeared in three books and only in very specific situations. The merchant classes in Darokin and Minrothad and lycanthropes here

making a werewolf form into a class is cool, I will use this in my campaign xD.

Out of d&d's various editions and all the other rpg's you've played, which ones had the best exploration rules?
1st edition was probably the most comprehensive with two books devotees to it. Star Wars d6 also did a good job with the book scouts
@@Mr_Welch Ok, thanks, I'll check those out.
2:40 So, any chance of giving the upcoming Transformers RPG a shot ?
I'll review anything
John Carter of Mars?
Dissatisfied with Beorn in The Hobbit movies? Try watching Revenant. 😉
That does give a different meaning to the term "I love werebears"
I think the Transformers movie scared you.
3:05 Are you in the bathroom recording this?
