If it would be embarrassing for the giver to publicly refuse the gift, you are able to accept the gift on behalf of the government, then when you return to the US, give them to the Department for use of the govt or give to a museum (if a valuable one) or if food, to share among the office.

I have equal parts of anger going on this situation. I get the feeling after she wore them to Charles birthday the Queen realised she hadn't returned them, after wearing them in Fiji.Even though they were a wedding gift I dont beleive she was supposed to keep them. I was interested to hear that it is highly irregular for a charity to be run by just the people who set it up . Even small charities have a minimum of 5people on the board. The majority being independent of the charity itself. This is so that money coming in and out can be seen as above board. Archewell is just run by Harry and Megan. No board .
