I enjoy these Finalist videos greatly. It is similar to the NFL Films' Missing Rings collection. The 87 Flyers were so close from pulling off an amazing upset. The 87 Oilers had 6 Hall of Famers and averaged 4.65 goals per game. But, against the young Hextall they did not score more than 4 in any one of the seven games.

That "87" Flyers team had a heart of a lion and a champion ! There 2nd place finish behind that Gretzky led Oilers was admirable in defeat. In fact if you could single out that "87" team in defeat COULD've actually have beaten some eventual cup winners !!! That's how good tough and resilient that "87" Philadelphia Flyers team was. - Great video THG.

Love this series! Shannon, I have been watching professional hockey since 85, I too liked the underdog. Calgary was my geographical team, but orange has always been my favourite colour. I didn't like Edmonton and Montreal during that time period.
I think that if Pelle Lindberg was still alive 87 would have been different. Also, once Kerr hurt his shoulder the flyers were never the same.
I didn't cheer for Philly while they had Lindros. I laughed so hard when the Rangers (who had Lindros and Jagr) missed the playoffs, I love how throwing money around never fixes problems. Cheers.

I asked this on the video the other day, but do you think Mike Keenan will ever reach the Hall of Fame as a builder? He's got a shit ton of wins, but the problem is that he may not make it purely on how many enemies he made in his time as a coach. What do you think?

Good video and yes that was an amazing run.....I was 12 years old, great memories! Honestly, that Flyers team may very well be the best non-winning Cup team EVER; they lost to the best team of all-time WITHOUT their top scorer playing one second of the finals (Kerr was second only to Gretzky that season with 58 goals, Gretzky had 62).....Agree with you on Hextall, as he could not have played any better than he had....one minor correction though; Flyers would not have lost the 1st round if it was best of 5 rather than 7, as they won Game 5 with it being tied at 2 (Flyers won Games 2 and 3)
