I have taken the #3 and #4 SWC To and From Raton NM. Starting on #3 from Chicago Union station to Raton. The #4 Raton to Chicago Union station. I took this train for a camping trip to The Philmont Scout ranch as a boy scout. Although this was many years ago, I thoroughly enjoyed this train ride. I look to the future of riding this entire line to LA and back.
I appreciate the POV from Coach. I am a dedicated Amtrak fan, and I'm never able to afford the bedrooms or roomettes; but I still love train travel. I'm doing this route in the summer, masked and diligent so we can all be safe. I can hardly wait!
Same, I don't know how people would let alone be willing to pay that much for bedrooms and roomettes! I enjoyed this route as well, will probably travel by train more in the future. Hope you enjoy your trip this summer and stay safe!
Cool train trip. It looks like it was dark for the right part of your trip! You definitely need to get back to Topeka and check out that state Capitol building. Albuquerque looks a little rough coming in. I’ve only been to southern New Mexico so looking forward towards you upcoming vids.
Yes, they mostly time their trains so that its dark through Kansas lol. Thanks for the suggestion, I really want to visit that State Capitol! And that's Albuquerque for ya. I have some interesting stuff coming up, thanks for your comments!
I appreciate the comment! I understand that the ads can be annoying, but they are invaluable in helping me afford to travel and make videos (hence why I'm taking a train as opposed to driving or flying.) I also don't get to choose the placement of ads, I know they pop up at irritating times. Thank you for watching!

I wondered if a lot of Boy Scouts took the SWC to Philmont! Very cool, I would also like to take the whole route.

Great video!!! I especially liked your shots of the southwest. Only thing I didn't really like is all your advertisements.

its sad to think that the Super Chief could go from Chicago to Albuquerque in 24hrs.
True
There were only 6 stops between Chicago and Albuquerque in those days. Now there are 19. It makes a difference.
