- I hope you all enjoy watching me catch a few trout on the beach every now and then! There were lots of small fish caught, but I tried to stick to the keepers for video purposes to keep the length reasonable. If faith, family, fishing, feathers, or food interests you--SUBSCRIBE! :)

Many years ago I was wade fishing in waist to chest deep water at Grand Isle. At the end of my 15-20’ rope stringer was an empty milk jug float. I had 5-7 large trout on the stringer. I was suddenly jerked backwards as if hit by a big wave. My milk jug was nowhere to be seen but it soon popped to the surface. I pulled it in and all that was left was some trout heads. My friends yelled at me to get to the beach as they saw a large shark near me. Apparently the shark had taken my fish. That ended my wade fishing that trip!
An experience like that would’ve sent me running back to the beach pretty darn quick as well!
Hey man. Nice video! I just moved down to NOLA (I'm in the CG) and I'm a very avid fisherman. I used to wade fish and fish back lakes in Texas all year long. Just seeing If you have some spots and tips for someone new fishing in Louisiana

I bought a small measuring tape that’s kinda like a sticker from academy and placed it on the fishing rod it self. The tape came at like 30 inches but I just cut it to the 17in so I could be sure I know the size of the trouts and reds. Cheap too like $3

That was definitely a shark. And I’m betting it wasn’t the only one around you that day. I’ve seen up to 20-30 in a morning down there on the point. Some biggins too lol. 3 years ago I had a 6-7’ bull shark take several off my stringer as I was stringing up another trout. All I saw was teeth. I know people in golden meadow heard me scream like a little girl. All you have to do if you see one is stomp your foot, they’ll jet out if there really fast.

@@ClementChronicles man you can have that. I’ll sit in waist deep water with bull sharks all day long with a buffet hanging off of me but I won’t deal with snakes. Scared to death of them. Don’t matter what kind, size, color, or anything else. If I see one I’m gone.
Put some tape on your rod to mark 12”. Old surf fisherman tip.
i got dat same net and float basket yeah. got a surf fishing belt with rod holders, i love getting into em on elmers in the mornin in the surf

Can you drive on to elmers island? I’d like to take my kayak out with my daughter and do some fishing one morning?
You can’t drive on the beach itself like in years past, but you can drive all the way down to the parking lot and catch a shuttle to wherever you’d like to fish. This is the first year they do the shuttle system and it’s been great!
As far as kayaks, there’s plenty places to launch a kayak all along Elmer’s Island Road!

@@jaredrobertson1955 definitely recommend you check it out! You can use Google Earth to scout out the area before you make a trip down there, but you can’t beat actually getting your eyes on it from a scouting perspective

Is it best to fish the sand bar area at the end of the beach? Or can you catch fish all along the beach?
We've hit fish all along the beach this summer... straight out from the parking lot, down to left, down to the right, and all the way to Gorilla Point. Just have to track em down because it's always a little different!
Mark your fishing rod to different lengths that way there is no guessing!
That’s one of the two options I was considering!
Where did you buy the donut float and net?
You can buy em at most sporting goods stores! If you’re on the island, bridge side and sureway and all that have those goods. I’m from Chackbay, so we probably got our stuff from Academy or Reel Outfitters
