The fact you made a lane for yourself with being able to express yourself in your own language while still being great at English, and subtitling it perfectly is just kind of unique. Could have sworn you already saw this one. He to likes sneak in unique flairs to his live performances that you don't expect. This one was no exception. I know this song gets a lot of the attention, but I think Sometimes I Cry (Bing Lounge) is one of his best live performances. So simple and yet so much impact just from his vocals.

I saw Chris perform live last year at a University football stadium, along with Sheryl Crowe and Willie Nelson. It was awesome to see the iconic Willie Nelson but Stapleton absolutely stole that show. He sounds just as good live as his studio recordings. Awesome performer as well as songwriter.

Since we lost Chris Cornell a few years ago, Stapleton is my favourite living male vocalist. He's tremendous. He's not a shredder on the guitar.... but the notes he *does* play are played with the same deliberate manner in which he sings. He makes his guitar "sing" even though limited by a smaller vocabulary than his ridiculous vocal talent. He has a great bassist & drummer backing him to let him express himself playing less-is-more guitar without things getting boring for the audience. As a 3-piece, they work super well imho. If you check out "I Was Wrong" from the same Austin City Limits set, you'll see what I mean. Since I mentioned Chris Cornell, is there any chance I can interest you in looking at his cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U" he did for SiriusXM sometime? I'm confident you'd appreciate it. Go on.... you know you want to! ;)

I love the ease at which you swittch between Finnish and English. I am from a town in Ohio, Ashtabula, with a large population Finnish emigres. My paternal uncle married a woman with Finnish heritage, (Luomala from near Kokkola.) I worked for a company with operations in Finland, (Kokkola and Harjavalta.) It amazes me how Finnish people are so fluent in English and how difficult a language Finnish is for non Finns.

Never get tired of your voice…a request I have, that pretty much no one else will ever have, “Living in the shadows” by Rodney C Riley, was about Vietnam, by a Vietnam vet, some would say his style and vocals are amateur…but he was there. Lived those things…and make music, some about them, later on. It’s an amazing song, and the best one I found is an upload by “texaslester” 14 yrs ago…the killer song and his background makes it so good. One of my all time favorites, I worked on some the aircraft, from the same era as what worked with…and we were the last of the whop, whops.

There is no doubt Chris Stapleton has some amazing pipes, but highly recommend you check out Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit there are many songs but you could start with "Cover me up" sung with his wife Amanda Shires (Also a solo artist in her own right).
This performance never gets old. As always, I enjoyed your analysis. That was the best example of the difference between nasality and twang I've seen. Every time I see this performance of Chris, I am reminded of another guitar playing singer, Marcus King, and this performance of his song "Wildflowers and Wine". th-cam.com/video/Bk1EtdXCDnY/w-d-xo.html. It's a very stripped back performance, only he and his guitar. Marcus is only 26, and mostly thought of as a guitarist, but his voice is also wonderfully expressive, with just enough grit to be interesting. A lot. 😂 it depends on the lenght of the song as well but on average about 4hrs (writing the cc takes surprisingly long!)
