  • Man City have a NEW formation. But what are its strengths, weaknesses, and how is it getting the most out of City's players?
    In this post-match analysis, I focus on the 2-0 game against Everton, and how this tactical tweak ultimately won Man City the game.

    This is why i'd prefer Grealish over Doku with this formation, Grealish is strong with the ball and not taking many risk

    • @lukeallen5484
      @lukeallen5484 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +38

      Grealish struggles to get past defenders. If you watch Doku, he is beginning to pick out his chances to get past defenders instead of going every time. This helps city keep the ball more and also keeps defenders guessing, as he can pretty much get past them whenever he wants.

    • @Kisyfurr
      @Kisyfurr 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      Grealish got bumped off the ball as soon as he came on and gave Everton a massive chance.
      Grealish diving is too risky for me

      I personally still have Grealish in my preferred starting XI also. Love Doku don’t get me wrong, but I really value what Grealish brings to this side

    • @adilramgoolam5449
      @adilramgoolam5449 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I love doku at certain points in the game but all he does is dribble past a few defenders(which is what a typical winger would do but most of the time but their is barely any end product) and get a corner most of the times, barely any crosses and few chances created which actually matter. Grealish suits pep's style of play way more with the backpasses and breaking down defences via a non flashy flow of play. Think doku serves as more of a sub coming on after 60 mins. But that's just my opinion. @@lukeallen5484

    • @wahidj4773
      @wahidj4773 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      Grealish is absolutely important. He can run for 90 minutes plus extra 7-8 minutes. He not only attacks but he helps the in many aspects. He defends, holds the ball when needed, he helps the team to control the game if its needed, plus he is aggressive. He gets into the minds of opponents and earns fouls, yellow cards.
      Grealish just understands peps game, and i will always prefer grealish this season over doku.

  • @ammarbaagu
    @ammarbaagu 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +32

    yeah the issue City have currently is that all our RW are some of our best midfielders (Foden and Bernardo) and they are needed at the middle especiallly with KDB being rotated because of his injury and Gundogan leaving. Doku was supposed to be a RW but he weirdly look better on the left which means we have excess LW in Grealish while Bobb is too young

    • @fessali5726
      @fessali5726 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think that’s a good thing. Being able to rotate and play different positions. Pep said bobb can play 5 positions. Foden and silva can also play in different positions. Savio coming next summer will make even more wingers but he can also play other positions.

    This is why last year’s 3-2-5 was deadly in the latter part of the season bcz the midfield box of 4 was constantly overloading the opponent’s midfield and half spaces while the back 3 in dias ake and akanji took care of transitions and defensive threats . Also , stones’ ability on the ball does make him a better option to play in the midfield with rodri rather than walker . However sadly this year we lost gundo who had quite an impact with his ball carrying ability and runs off the ball . Hes the type of midfielder who knows when to hold the ball and when to accelerate tempo and him and kdb were deadly but now and kdb can do it and so we need another midfielder like gundo ( very hard to find sadly )

    • @emilevangheem6165
      @emilevangheem6165 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am Belgian so I might be biased but Vermeeren who just went to Atletico Madrid seems like he could become a gundo type player. I have watched him play a lot but the game that completely convinced me he is a gundo type was when Antwerp actually played him in a 10 position with two 6s behind him. Before he normally had to play in the double pivot role. But because of some injuries and other players returning he was finally put in the 10 position. He was still a box to box midfielder but actually effectively arriving in the box because he was popping up in the half spaces. He is defensively always so solid and in that Barca game he was finally given the liberty to actually arrive in the box. He was simply the best player on the pitch. He is very young but also humble and intelligent with good people around him. City should definitely keep him on the radar another couple years and he could be the real deal I think

    Would genuinely like to hear Pep talk about his decision to keep playing Alvarez in the middle, and just generally playing people out of position. Akanji, Stones, Alvarez, and Foden were all asked to play out of their best position in the Everton match, with no real justification. Earlier in the season, his hand was forced because of lack of options, but there's no excuse now. Even with the UCL looming, there were so many other options he could've gone with which would allow players to be in their best position. At this point in the season, with a full bill of health, there's no reason we should've just played our worst half of the season, especially at home. I'm sure there's a reason, and would love to hear it

    • @keithlinney7084
      @keithlinney7084 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Worst players:
      You are not privy to all the details Pep iffs.
      Players carrying injuries, players chosen for specific opponents tactical style of play, players having family issues, houses robbed, illness etc. All players can have a bad game or part thereof.
      If Walker has been carrying a niggle do you think Pep would announce it to the world.
      What I do know is Pep is the best manager of all time based on many professionals saying so, therefore, if Pep says it's Tuesday, it's f****** Tuesday!
      Your 'freeze frame' analysis is just that.
      The exquisite one-touch-football that we play is changing the world's idea of how to play the game and I find your freeze format amateurish and anybody can 'freeze' and state what could have happened.
      If you're that good, apply for the Luton job.
      Singling out a worst player is a cheap shot at Walker when you DON'T KNOW all the information.
      Do I slate Ederson for a s*** kick a few days ago? Certainly not.
      Walker is world class with a difficult job...he must know exactly when to relinquish his defensive duties, press and get back again if we lose the ball.
      People used to slate Zinchenko and state he was forgetting his defensive duties but, to me, it was obvious he was told to do it because he kept being picked.
      There's the Doku/Grealish debate. I'm not in it because they offer different qualities...so, I trust in Pep and he's usually right.
      He a genius, you're just one of millions with an opinion... except your opinion is based on a 'still'
      Stick to freeze framing if you must and put walker on and off the pedestal if you must.
