Not even gyro? It is what made me disappointed when BioShock The Collection has no gyro and how I wished it did like with Borderlands Legendary Collection.
I Highly recommend to anyone who hasn't played Red Dead Redemption, It's a must play especially if you've played RDR2. It's a game that's aged amazingly.
I've played a couple hours now on Switch (portable) and I'm really impressed. Looks like a full 720p at all times with some good Anti Aliasing. And I've barely noticed any drops to frames, just a couple hitches when the horse does something crazy. Very impressive port, who'd have thought 10 years ago we'd have massive console games on our lil Nintendo handhelds.
I bought it on the switch yesterday and it’s great. Haven’t noticed any performance issues at all, and the graphics look so much better than i expected.
Hopefully everything will be on the physical cartridge. If I can beat the game without an update then physical is a no brainer. Having this on a small cartridge would be an awesome novelty to have!
A physical is releasing but there can be a catch that is game is of 11GB I just hope Rockstar isn't as cheapskate as Capcom or Ubisoft and put the game on a 16GB card instead of 8gb one and then you have download the rest
@abhaysoni8572 It would be really foolish for Rockstar to cheap out on the Cartridge as many of us will buy a second copy if its all on the Cartridge from the go. If I had to bet, I'd say Rockstar will cheap out.

Well this is really the only good thing you can say about this release. A well-running portable version is definitely nice to have, and is worth pretty much everyone buying when it's on sale.

I’m pleased to here that it runs and looks as best it can on Switch. Sure the price and lack of online are frustrating but to have one of the best single player open worlds on a portable console is pretty impressive. I’ll definitely pick up the physical release on this, doubt you’ll get it much cheaper if you hold out.
Finally just got it at $17.99 for my switch. I've been really diving into my favorite third party games that have come to switch recently since I have a kid now. Amazingly I really don't care about the graphical compromises when I'm playing games like TW3, KCD and other similar titles. But I'm really glad to have this on my switch now. I can play it before work while I'm in the parking lot getting my alone time for the day 😅
I stand corrected, that’s an incredible price for a game this great. It has actually dropped in the UK too now and can be picked up for £29.99 physical. You listed some huge single player games. As a father of four, and full time worker - I totally understand enjoying that escapism, and immersing yourself into another world for an hour or two here and there. It’s only when you stretch these games to large screen TV’s that you notice the lower resolution and graphical cutbacks. But on the OLED itself and monitors no bigger than 32” they look pretty amazing. Enjoy
Batman trilogy, Red Dead, All the Nintendo Re releases and a few other remasters on Switch have done it - I agree it should be around £30 but I'm pleased with how it turned out. Mark
One of my all time favorites. I look forward to playing this on switch…as soon as it goes on sale. I think $40 US would have been a fair starting price, but of course they have to squeeze us and take advantage of our nostalgia and love for the game. In the end it’s fine though, I’ll be playing BG3 for the next few months anyway! (My Switch is feeling very neglected the past couple weeks). Have a great day Mark!
Game should have been 20 dollars at most, its just a port of an old game with no new enhancements or anything new to justify a price like 50, its just rockstar being greedy but also knowing that their dumb fanbase will buy anything they crap out
It’s all good…I don’t really play my switch anymore…that being said the switch is still a good console for entertainment and gaming, but I prefer my steam deck….that being said smash still gets used a lot since it’s just me and my 4 kids…

I envy the people who are playing this for the first time. This game was absolutely amazing when it launched way back, it was ahead of it time. I still whistle Born Unto Trouble from the red dead soundtrack
Seems like a decent port. My wife rarely plays console games but I remember her being addicted to RDD when it launched. She actually completed about 90% of it and even gave me some tips.😆 I'm glad this port turned out okay but it's the price I can't fully justify. I'll wait for a price drop before I pick it up and play one of the best games ever again. Thanks for the review

Why pick up something you have already played and completed with the exact same graphics and gameplay? Rockstar and these greedy companies love consumers like you as you make them rich.
I personally never had an issue with the Switch port for Red Dead, it’s the PS4 port that seemed unreasonable. In fact, I’ll probably pick up the switch version

Amazing game! £40 for the full game plus Undead Nightmare is worth every penny! For those people (like me) where Switch is their only console, this is a welcome addition to their library! And as for multiplayer, people would play it for about a week, then drop off - not worth the extra development time! Great video as always! 👍🏻
The multiplayer would have made this a day one for me I never got into the og multiplayer so it would be nice to start on a level playing field with others on the go.
Amazing review as always, SwitchUp I've heard of a physical coming some time late September early October so be on the look out for that. With Fall around the corner, my backlog is going to be ridiculous with Switch far exceeding my expectations this year I honestly am worried what might come next. As far as the multiplier being absent I'm fine with that. Most of my time playing this was single player and by the time I looked into multi it was pretty much dead. I'd say a small price to pay given No Man's Sky success. Multi being phased out in favor of improved visuals and FPS is a huge benefit especially for a game like this.

The Multiplayer will be missed, but looks like they’ve done a really good job of porting it. Let’s be honest, this is the release price, the console is in it’s golden years, this game’s going to be on sale before Christmas, and then likely fairly often from then onwards. I really love RDR1 so happy that I can finally play it on my switch lite now. Screw all the haters, they’re irrelevant. I’ve played rdr1 on the ps3 before and loved it especially the undead nightmare so I’m thankful now it’s on handheld too. Outstanding game back when I last played in the xb360 generation. Yes the price point is a bit shady but I took the hit and bought it on switch (used a fiver of my gold points). I’m really enjoying it so far and impressed with how it’s running.
I bought it on the eshop even though I bought a XBox Series S last year just to play the enhanced edition. I also have it on PS3 but it looks horrible at 640p. It's blurry, sometimes really dark and at other times looks completely washed out. It looks nice on the Switch OLED and it's one of my all time favourite games so it's worth it to me.
Regardless of it's age, RDR is a "full-price" gaming experience. It may no longer be "worth" said full price due to perceived age but it's more complete than most games today start to finish and this also has the DLC. The price could always be lower...as with any game, but its fair enough in this case.
Kind of wild how much they are charging for this after gutting something as big as the online mode, but oh well. Maybe I'll get it after a while when its on sale. Awesome overview btw!

As much as I absolutely love this game and want it on Switch, I am holding out for a discount. Hoping around Black Friday or Christmas time it will drop to $30 or lower. That would be the sweet spot for me.
30 or 35 euro and I'd buy it , but since Ive already played it through (with it's unsatisfied ending!) on PS 3 I'll wait for it to get to that price, or close. Handheld will be handy though.
This is a phenomenal port. So glad it didn't get a lousy "Remaster" Treatment, A great port is all we needed. Looks and runs Amazing on the OLED Nintendo Switch in Handheld. Nice job getting a video out so quick, now back to the West!
This is EXACTLY what I've wanted for years. Remaster was not needed. It's just a shame the price is such an insult. I can afford it, but I can't bring myself to buy it at £40 on principle.

Honestly picking this up on the switch is a no brainer. RDR is an amazing game and still looks great. Perfect introduction to the series for Nintendo fans. If you have never played it do not hesitate to play it you’ll have tons of fun.

I mean, it's great to have a portable version of RDR with good performance. That said, I don't get why the game is being heralded as some sort of technical achievement. This is a PS3/Xbox 360 game from 2010. The Switch is significantly more powerful than either of those systems, a competent port shouldn't be surprising. When/if the Switch gets a good port of GTA5, then we can pop open the champagne.
It's a 13 year old game. Games on the Switch are expensive as it is anyway so I guess no difference to Switch owners. Personally there's no way I'm paying that much for a port NOT a remaster. The Xbox version is a lot cheaper and runs better. I'm playing it on the PC anyway, with emulation. (The good thing about the Switch port is that it will probably be the most stable version to emulate on the Steam Deck.)
$50 is way too high for such a bare bones low effort port. You shouldn’t buy it because that will incentivize rockstar to continue making low effort ports

People are just mad they are wanting 50 bucks for a port and not a remaster or remake. BTW if it was remade it would most likely not be on the switch in the first place.
@@johnnyjets2343 People are mad because leaks suggested an actual remaster, and fans have been asking for a pc port for years now, but instead we got a bare bones port with zero actual improvements, less content, and an unjustifiable price - especially when you can get a 360 copy of the game (with the multiplayer) and play it on the series x at native 4k for $30 instead of $50. A couple years ago, Rockstar CEO said they “don’t just do simple ports” and this is proof that that was a corporate lie. But they still have shills like you that are willing to pay them anyway, so it doesn’t matter in the end. Out of context, the port is totally fine, and if it was $30 or less and included multiplayer then people wouldn’t be as mad. But that’s not the case.
Still think they're testing the waters on this release and they'll port the PS3/Xbox version of GTA5 onto the Switch at some point if this sells at that price. Free money effectively.
damn, the score is about 8.5/10, which shows that the game runs well on switch. i understand that people were afraid of it due to the game size and the switch's capabilities, but it goes to show to it's good to be optimistic once in a while. people complained about gta definitive edition, but i enjoyed it and didn't notice anything wrong with it. people are just too spoiled with graphics these days. but to me, as long as it has a great story and long runtime, i wouldn't even care about the graphics. i don't know, maybe it's because i didn't grow up with a ps3/4/5 and xbox, maybe that's why i don't rely on hyper realistic graphics too much. but for the price, i get it. it's too expensive for an old game that isnt't even a remake or a remaster. overall, i'll get this game nonetheless because i learnt that sometimes i just have to go with my feelings rather than relying on biased or spoiled reviews.
Speaking of great western games, I'd like to see a re-release of "Gun". Really enjoyed it's gun play and story. Feels like it was kinda forgotten about once Red Dead Redemption came out.
The team that did the conversions, Double Eleven have said it uses a form of AA, new lighting engine, improved textures, and for all the sound they actually used the Dedicated Sound Processor in the SWITCH, so no wasted CPU cycles there.

This is brilliant news. I understand that many people may only have a Switch and so multiplayer is essential for them, but for me just having this game running well on a portable console is everything. Can’t wait for my physical copy to arrive!
I gave in today and bought it. I just spent a little bit of time with it before work but honestly for a day one release, its good. No stutters as of yet, graphics are good though i noticed some particles that could probably be cleaned up in a patch. It's a good port and Double Eleven deserves some praise for putting it a good port together especially after the GTA collection debacle. Main complaint is that $50 is still too much especially with losing multiplayer but other than that Im glad Rockstar is returning to Nintendo after years of absence. Let's hope this sells well when it goes on sale and Rockstar will bring more games to Nintendo in the future

tempted to get this for my switch. probably one of, if not, my favorite game of all time. glad to see it's a quality port. playing it entirely handheld would be awesome. really bummed there is no multiplayer. 50 bucks is steep, but if you have never played this before it's a genuine masterpiece. you can easily sink a hundred of hours if go for 100% on the main and dlc. i wish they'd put it on PC too. i have no idea why they haven't done it already. millions of copies waiting to be sold.
Got all achievements on the original Xbox 360. The Redeemed achievement brought the since of closure I needed. Won't pick this up, but I do hope that people get a chance to play and enjoy this game if they haven't in the past.

When the Switch launched, I made a list of every game I wanted on the console. Every year I tick a few more off the list. For me personally it's the greatest console ever launched, if I get the three titles remaining, it would become my desert island console. Looking forward to it.

I'm actually really happy the performance is good. The ps4 version could probably hit 60fps uncapped. Makes me hopeful for a PC port a little bit later on.

How are the campfires? (when using the camping feature). Apparently they do not cast real-time light in this version.

I envy the people who are playing this for the first time. This game was absolutely amazing when it launched way back, it was ahead of it time. I still whistle Born Unto Trouble from the red dead soundtrack

Seems like a decent port. My wife rarely plays console games but I remember her being addicted to RDD when it launched. She actually completed about 90% of it and even gave me some tips.😆 I'm glad this port turned out okay but it's the price I can't fully justify. I'll wait for a price drop before I pick it up and play one of the best games ever again. Thanks for the review
A decent port!? This port is the bare minimum effort... Even the switch should be running 60 Hz, not 30

Why pick up something you have already played and completed with the exact same graphics and gameplay? Rockstar and these greedy companies love consumers like you as you make them rich.

I personally never had an issue with the Switch port for Red Dead, it’s the PS4 port that seemed unreasonable. In fact, I’ll probably pick up the switch version

Amazing game! £40 for the full game plus Undead Nightmare is worth every penny! For those people (like me) where Switch is their only console, this is a welcome addition to their library! And as for multiplayer, people would play it for about a week, then drop off - not worth the extra development time! Great video as always! 👍🏻
I totally agree with you Dan. I only have a switch and would love to play this and for £40 for a game I’ve never played, I can totally justify it.
The multiplayer was super fun, and people still play it on the 360 version to this day. I would not agree with you on that part at all
The multiplayer would have made this a day one for me I never got into the og multiplayer so it would be nice to start on a level playing field with others on the go.

I've heard of a physical coming some time late September early October so be on the look out for that. With Fall around the corner, my backlog is going to be ridiculous with Switch far exceeding my expectations this year I honestly am worried what might come next. As far as the multiplier being absent I'm fine with that. Most of my time playing this was single player and by the time I looked into multi it was pretty much dead. I'd say a small price to pay given No Man's Sky success. Multi being phased out in favor of improved visuals and FPS is a huge benefit especially for a game like this.

a solid $20/£15 would have been better.
The Multiplayer will be missed, but looks like they’ve done a really good job of porting it. Let’s be honest, this is the release price, the console is in it’s golden years, this game’s going to be on sale before Christmas, and then likely fairly often from then onwards. For me this is a must as a physical, and I’ll likely pick it up in the near future.

I really love RDR1 so happy that I can finally play it on my switch lite now. Screw all the haters, they’re irrelevant. I’ve played rdr1 on the ps3 before and loved it especially the undead nightmare so I’m thankful now it’s on handheld too. There’s nothing to complain about tbh and this is comin from an OG Red Dead player 🎮🐎

Outstanding game back when I last played in the xb360 generation. Yes the price point is a bit shady but I took the hit and bought it on switch (used a fiver of my gold points). I’m really enjoying it so far and impressed with how it’s running.

I bought it on the eshop even though I bought a XBox Series S last year just to play the enhanced edition. I also have it on PS3 but it looks horrible at 640p. It's blurry, sometimes really dark and at other times looks completely washed out. It looks nice on the Switch OLED and it's one of my all time favourite games so it's worth it to me.
Regardless of it's age, RDR is a "full-price" gaming experience. It may no longer be "worth" said full price due to perceived age but it's more complete than most games today start to finish and this also has the DLC. The price could always be lower...as with any game, but its fair enough in this case.
Kind of wild how much they are charging for this after gutting something as big as the online mode, but oh well. Maybe I'll get it after a while when its on sale. Awesome overview btw!

As much as I absolutely love this game and want it on Switch, I am holding out for a discount. Hoping around Black Friday or Christmas time it will drop to $30 or lower. That would be the sweet spot for me.

This is a phenomenal port. So glad it didn't get a lousy "Remaster" Treatment, A great port is all we needed. Looks and runs Amazing on the OLED Nintendo Switch in Handheld. Nice job getting a video out so quick, now back to the West!

This is EXACTLY what I've wanted for years. Remaster was not needed. It's just a shame the price is such an insult. I can afford it, but I can't bring myself to buy it at £40 on principle.

I've been looking for your performance review throughout the all day. Thank you very much. I've just happen to finish RDR2 on PC and I am looking to go back (or forward in a way) into RDR1 again... this port might me the my best shot.
Honestly picking this up on the switch is a no brainer. RDR is an amazing game and still looks great. Perfect introduction to the series for Nintendo fans. If you have never played it do not hesitate to play it you’ll have tons of fun.
Now for GTA 4 and 5 for switch. Xbox 360 version of GTA 5 should work on Switch. Mas Effect 1,2, and 3 as well!
This is actually too good, i was expecting many stutters but looks like rockstar did a good job in optimizing it, even if its 30 fps they managed to make it look smooth, well done Rockstar 👏

I mean, it's great to have a portable version of RDR with good performance.
That said, I don't get why the game is being heralded as some sort of technical achievement.
This is a PS3/Xbox 360 game from 2010. The Switch is significantly more powerful than either of those systems, a competent port shouldn't be surprising.
When/if the Switch gets a good port of GTA5, then we can pop open the champagne.
To anyone who hasn't played this game before: the game is a masterpiece and worth the $50 imo
It's a 13 year old game. Games on the Switch are expensive as it is anyway so I guess no difference to Switch owners. Personally there's no way I'm paying that much for a port NOT a remaster. The Xbox version is a lot cheaper and runs better. I'm playing it on the PC anyway, with emulation. (The good thing about the Switch port is that it will probably be the most stable version to emulate on the Steam Deck.)
$50 is way too high for such a bare bones low effort port. You shouldn’t buy it because that will incentivize rockstar to continue making low effort ports
@@mister-pinkmanthe port itself is good quality. The only negative thing about the port is it doesn't come with the online part of the game. By all accounts it looks and runs good on the switch. People are just mad they are wanting 50 bucks for a port and not a remaster or remake. BTW if it was remade it would most likely not be on the switch in the first place.
@@johnnyjets2343 People are mad because leaks suggested an actual remaster, and fans have been asking for a pc port for years now, but instead we got a bare bones port with zero actual improvements, less content, and an unjustifiable price - especially when you can get a 360 copy of the game (with the multiplayer) and play it on the series x at native 4k for $30 instead of $50.
A couple years ago, Rockstar CEO said they “don’t just do simple ports” and this is proof that that was a corporate lie. But they still have shills like you that are willing to pay them anyway, so it doesn’t matter in the end.
Out of context, the port is totally fine, and if it was $30 or less and included multiplayer then people wouldn’t be as mad. But that’s not the case.

damn, the score is about 8.5/10, which shows that the game runs well on switch. i understand that people were afraid of it due to the game size and the switch's capabilities, but it goes to show to it's good to be optimistic once in a while. people complained about gta definitive edition, but i enjoyed it and didn't notice anything wrong with it. people are just too spoiled with graphics these days. but to me, as long as it has a great story and long runtime, i wouldn't even care about the graphics. i don't know, maybe it's because i didn't grow up with a ps3/4/5 and xbox, maybe that's why i don't rely on hyper realistic graphics too much. but for the price, i get it. it's too expensive for an old game that isnt't even a remake or a remaster. overall, i'll get this game nonetheless because i learnt that sometimes i just have to go with my feelings rather than relying on biased or spoiled reviews.
Speaking of great western games, I'd like to see a re-release of "Gun". Really enjoyed it's gun play and story. Feels like it was kinda forgotten about once Red Dead Redemption came out.

Those skies and clouds graphics are awesome, even today.
Also, I found the shadows a lot better than the original.
The team that did the conversions, Double Eleven have said it uses a form of AA, new lighting engine, improved textures, and for all the sound they actually used the Dedicated Sound Processor in the SWITCH, so no wasted CPU cycles there.

I bought this game when it came out on 360 and i never really cared for the online mode.
Also apparently the online is still alive on x360.

This is brilliant news. I understand that many people may only have a Switch and so multiplayer is essential for them, but for me just having this game running well on a portable console is everything. Can’t wait for my physical copy to arrive!
I gave in today and bought it. I just spent a little bit of time with it before work but honestly for a day one release, its good. No stutters as of yet, graphics are good though i noticed some particles that could probably be cleaned up in a patch. It's a good port and Double Eleven deserves some praise for putting it a good port together especially after the GTA collection debacle. Main complaint is that $50 is still too much especially with losing multiplayer but other than that Im glad Rockstar is returning to Nintendo after years of absence. Let's hope this sells well when it goes on sale and Rockstar will bring more games to Nintendo in the future

tempted to get this for my switch. probably one of, if not, my favorite game of all time. glad to see it's a quality port. playing it entirely handheld would be awesome. really bummed there is no multiplayer. 50 bucks is steep, but if you have never played this before it's a genuine masterpiece. you can easily sink a hundred of hours if go for 100% on the main and dlc.
i wish they'd put it on PC too. i have no idea why they haven't done it already. millions of copies waiting to be sold.
Got all achievements on the original Xbox 360. The Redeemed achievement brought the since of closure I needed. Won't pick this up, but I do hope that people get a chance to play and enjoy this game if they haven't in the past.

When the Switch launched, I made a list of every game I wanted on the console. Every year I tick a few more off the list. For me personally it's the greatest console ever launched, if I get the three titles remaining, it would become my desert island console. Looking forward to it.

Nice to see how good this game looks and performs on Switch. As someone who has never played this before as I’ve been a Nintendo guy for my whole life, I’m excited to jump into this. From my perspective, this is totally worth the $50 for someone who’s never had the opportunity.
