I'm torn on James Brand. I'm mostly onboard with their minimalist designs, but I just can't get behind their pricing vs materials or their marketing campaigns. Almost every product they make seems to have one or two elements that stop me from considering it for purchase. I suppose that's good for my wallet.
Such an awesome set. I love the watch but it's way out of my price range. But it has my name on it lol!

My issue with James Brand gear is that they seem to have decided they’re a design company, not a knife company. Why can’t minimalist design be accessible to all? Why does a minimalist keychain knife need to cost more than a small Spyderco (which is easily more impressive than any keychain knife)? It’s all a bit meh. Not worth the price for me. Nice to look at though.
The whole thing about minimalist is the fact that it's fashionable for the best cost. Not getting the least for your money because "name" is on it. James brand needs to remember that.

The Timex has a SEA-GULL movement
The watch rotor says miyota, as timex uses in all their automatic watches.
The seagull is in the hand wound marlin and the MK1 mechanical.

Miyota 8215 had a rotor like this in the 90's
@@mirosawirzyk5247 Its a Miyota 8000 series, most likely a 8315 since it has hacking and handwinding. Similar movement as the Bulova Hack. Similar market point as the Seiko NH35
@@mirosawirzyk5247 , I just found out the watch you are referring to having a seagull, the expedition north series has several models, the tide/compass, a solar model at 41mm, a solar at 36mm and a mechanical hand winderat 36mm, this watch in the video is not that watch, this is the james brand collab with an automatic movement, they are different watches, different movements, different sizes.
The expedition north 36mm mechanical probably has the same movement as in the hand wind Marlins and my 36mm MK1 mechanical.
Edit: now info on the size of the mechanical exp.north is reported as being 38mm and not 36mm, it's hard to keep track of the errors youtube reviewers make!

Im familiar with James Brand but I didn't know it was such a polarizing company. From what I can tell are they the SUPREME logo of the knife community?
Pretty much, most people who don't like them usually point towards the amount of money they ask for compared to the product you recieve. I've never handled anything from them but I really don't have any interest to since I think their aesthetic is kinda boring and generally uninteresting. I'm not really into that gentleman's carry stuff. Hell, I EDC a Benchmade Adamas.

It is a nice looking little package. I am sure someone might get excited about it. Guys like these types of packaged items. But in this price range I personally would not seek out a watch that is packaged with other products. I would build my own package with quality products. If I were to pursue a minimalist watch it would not be a Timex. Even if a special edition. Not knowing the movement is a problem. However they are making some cute special interest watches like the Red Wing Waterbury Chronograph. And I do like some of their vintage pieces. It is good they are finally jumping back into the realm of focusing on true horology. But I am more interested in quality for the price. This could be a good deal but for $350 one can buy a Seiko Monster. Or many other higher quality watches. I would spend a bit more and buy something like a Junghans Max Bill Automatic. That is a quality minimalist watch that won’t break the bank; although a non-field watch. A Bulova Special Edition Moon Apollo Lunar Pilot Chronograph Black Dial, or even a Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles Powermatic 80 would be better quality watches that won’t break the bank. Or even a Hamilton Khaki Field Watch Mechanical or Automatic, or a Seiko 5 Automatic. Also, I wouldn’t do MVMT or other boutique watches. Anyway, you seem to like quality knives. Matching higher quality watches with your high quality knives would be better. Staying within the range there are many better higher quality watches for $350-$700. But thank you for sharing.
It’s a Miyota Japanese Movement. Solid for a $350 watch if you pair the titanium and 200m water resistance.

People in the South East call beanies “Toboggans” specifically near Appalachia US. I never knew how weird it was to call it that until I travelled to more northern areas. 😬

I’m a watch collector and purchased the watch because this could be the best watch Timex has made to date. Ti, sapphire, screw in crown and case back, 200m wr. Think the design and look is nice too, They could have gone with the Miyota 9000 series movement but Timex is a budget brand. All in all not a bad price for the specs but I could have done without the James brand branding.
I ordered this watch from Timex this morning but I'm unclear if the watch will come in the nice box with knife.
Unless you specifically bought a box set, it’s just the watch.
