It's an interesting thing when you hear the instrumentals, you know the lyrics by heart, and you're sorely tempted to sing along...
And yet the instrumental tracks provide an uncommon clarity and insight to the music that the vocal tracks seem to obscure. It depends on the artist, of course, but which usually and traditionally comes first, the instrumental track, or the vocal track with the lyrics?
@@Robert_Douglass Metallica have stated a few times in various documentaries that when they get to the studio, they individually already have riffs and ideas ready. They test it out then put it together. The last part would be the lyrics

I like to play instrumental music during class. It helps keep my students focused. Sometimes we get tired of jazz and classical, and need somethting to wake everyone up so they can get their work done. Its amazing how hard it is to find true instrumental versions, (I'm not sure everyone knows what the meaning of instrumental is)
So far this is a great list, my students thank you.
Mr. K..you rock. our 7th grade science teacher was a total dude. we loved him and he scared the hell out of us when we acted up. soft spoken. was also the wrestling coach. he played classical music records and star wars, etc while he taught

Without the vocals, the drums sound less like boxes - FINALLY!
yeah, I never knew that, in the slow part of Blackened, the bass repeats the guitar riff during the singing (e.g. seek to 1:36:04), while the guitars don't
The fact that To Live Is To Die is not on here is a crime. That song is literally instrumental on its own.
