What Lures I Used to Catch these 10 Halibuts from the Surf! Surprise Mouthwatering Meal!

- It's been a while since I caught my last legal halibut. In the last year or so, I've caught 10 of them surf fishing that haven't been able to hit that 22" mark. While I was unable to harvest them, I still had a great time surf fishing for them! I'll take you through how I caught each halibut and what lure I used.
So what's the plan for the end of the video meal? It won't be halibut catch and cook, but it will be just as tasty! Prime New York Strip Steak with Chimichurri sauce!

Looks like fun regardless! Good luck this year!
Thanks I appreciate it! 😁
Hello, great video thank you.
Can I use the carolina montage with the comma for this peach?
Thank you. If you are asking if you can use a Carolina rig to catch halibut, then yes you can. I used a Carolina rig and a 2” paddle tail grub to catch the second biggest halibut in this video.

My short to legal ratio on the beach I fish in LA last year was around 15-20 to 1. Out of those there were 3-4 in the 19-21'' range. Got 2 legals last year out of about 60 sessions, first year surf fishing and targetting exclusively halibut. Managed a bycatch of 5 stripers ranging in the 19-24 inch range, 1 bat ray, 1 butterfly ray, 2 leopard sharks, many YFC and smelt. More keeper stripers than keeper hali despite targetting exclusively hali was a bit of a surprise for me.
That short to legal ratio is similar to mine. Props on the SoCal stripers! I’m still waiting for my first one. I’ve seen some posts recently of people catching them in OC and I’m both inspired and jealous! 😅
With any luck, it would be great to catch my first striper this year in the OC.
bro I'm on the same mission, last one I got is just 1" short, not at this spot though
Yep. The struggle is real.
Pound that sand lol
Are you a SoCal, NorCal or maybe even a Central CA fisher? Not to question you, BUT; It would be great if all CA UTUBE fishers at least identify one of those general CA locations where they fish. Maybe a Croaker (kingfish), got it!!
I fish down here in SoCal.
