it was great help..thank u so much sir for making such a useful content...tomorrow is my mid semester exam of mechanics and i was stressed out but because of your videos im able to solve problems🥰🥰🥰
Look I section is a section which completely symmetrical about its horizontal and vertical axis which are passing through the centre of the I section. So in case of symmetrical i section its centre is its centroid. So no need to calculate. But in case of Unsymmetrical i section you have to calculate x bar and y bar
Since it is said that you have to calculate the centroid about the X and Y axes passing through the centroid hence in that case reference axis will be the centroidal axis in this case
I got a question in my mechanics, An I section of 100mm×10mm top and bottom flanges and connected by centrally placed web 10mm×120mm. Determine moment of inertia of the section about its BOTH CENTROIDAL AXIS? What does both centroidal axis mean? I just did what you you have shown in my exam, both axis mean anything more? Cause I just did ixx and iyy just as shown in the video, did I had to do anything more? I'm so tensed that I did something wrong, is there anything more as the question paper stated both axes or it's just ixx and iyy?cause it's symmetrical in both y and X axis.
I-section, having overall depth of 500 mm, top flange width of 200 mm, bottom flange width of 300 mm. Thickness of web, and both flanges is 20 mm. Find the position of centroid of section, calculate Moment of Inertia, about horizontal axis passing through centroid. Find shear stress distribution variation along the depth, if section is subjected a positive share for V (where V is in Newtons). Where shear stress will be maximum, and find ration of maximum shear stress to average stress.
In practical I section will have same flange thickness But still if you came across such condition, then it will become a Unsymmetrical I section about major axis. You have to follow same procedure as we have done here
Since it is a symmetrical I section still we should use the parallel axis theorem? Because in your video about symmetric T section where it is symmetric about YY axis you said that since centroids of individual section as well as centroid of whole structure lie on axis so no parallel theorem. Shouldn't that be the same here too?
Sir the given I section is symmetrical about Y axis and the centroids of all the three individual rectangles are lieing on the global Y-Y axis. So in this case the "h" term will become zero. So ultimately the "Ah^2" term of parellel axis theorem will be zero. So thats why i have not used the parelles axis theorem for Y-Y axis If you still have any doubt, feel free to ask, i will surely help you
H2 is releated to 2nd rectangle And since there is no perpendicular distance between the local X-X axis of 2nd rectangle and Global X-X axis Hence h2 will be zero If you still have some doubts then please watch this video th-cam.com/video/ErbJn9vljOw/w-d-xo.html
H2 is the perpendicular distance between the local X-X axis of 2nd rectangle and Global X-X axis. But as you can see in the video there is no perpendicular distance between them. Hence H2 is zero

Welcome sir
As both upper and lower rectangles are identical, we can directly solve this by (150×(300)³)/12 - 2(70×(260)³)/12
Answer obviously comes the same
Correct
How
That is an easier way for symmetrical I section Beam
Sir i am getting 8.2321x10⁶ then how you got 58.9x10⁶ please explain
sir, why are you not find y-bar and x-bar please tell me
Look I section is a section which completely symmetrical about its horizontal and vertical axis which are passing through the centre of the I section. So in case of symmetrical i section its centre is its centroid.
So no need to calculate.
But in case of Unsymmetrical i section you have to calculate x bar and y bar
Make a video on ybar and xbar sir

Very Nice explanation of problem 👌
Thank you
Can we use this method for the question of (Calculate the max bending stress of the cross section)
Yes, but it is only one part of the answer
Sir 140 ka ixx3 mai square antha hoga
This problem is refrence axix and centroidal axis??
What's the problem, please tell
@@CivilStuff ye question refrence axis se solve kiya gaya h ya centroidal axis se?
Since it is said that you have to calculate the centroid about the X and Y axes passing through the centroid hence in that case reference axis will be the centroidal axis in this case
How do you calculate from scientific calculator?
I calculate ixx1 but ans shown by calculator is 2018800000
Make the calculations using brackets in the calculator
Really nice video
Please make more videos on machanics
Thank you sir and will make more videos on mechanics

Thanks for the appreciation
can the Iyy be bigger than the Ixx in other problems or is Ixx always bigger?
It is depend on the dimensions of the section.
But most of the time Ixx is greater that Iyy
Thank You So much Bro 😊

Sir ek baar batana sir h2 bana zero
H2 is releated to 2nd rectangle
And since there is no perpendicular distance between the local X-X axis of 2nd rectangle and Global X-X axis
Hence h2 will be zero
If you still have some doubts then please watch this video
th-cam.com/video/ErbJn9vljOw/w-d-xo.html
Best
Thank you
You're welcome
H2 kyu nhi nikale sir?
H2 is the perpendicular distance between the local X-X axis of 2nd rectangle and Global X-X axis.
But as you can see in the video there is no perpendicular distance between them. Hence H2 is zero
