That looks like the original paint work 0n the bike, really lovely machine. There is a beautiful mint thruxton model here in the UK for sale, the price is $30,000. it is a blue and white colour with the same design paint scheme, they have electric as well as kick start. The venom engine produces about 34HP and the Thruxton engine about 45HP. 1970 l think was the last year Velocette produced those engines, so l suspect he brought the last few from the factory. l have a 1959 Velocette Venom with the same engine to that Indian Velo, they started producing them in the early 1950's, Velocette always produced beautifully hand made engines and bikes. They have a flexible smooth power delivery with much less vibration than other 500 singles like the BSA DB34 gold star and are a real pleasure to ride.
These are beautiful machines. Baxter Cycle actually had both the Venom version and the Thruxon version. The Thruxton version sold and was gone in just a few day. I missed an opportunity there. Love these bikes. Would love to see pictures of your 59 Venom. If possible, please post some on our Forgotten Motorcycles Facebook page. Here is the link: facebook.com/groups/425017539210264/ Thank you!
Omg I’ve ridden Indian all my life.. my family started back I. The teens with my great grandfather.. I’ve never seen one of these!! I have 23 Indians ranging from 1934 - 1950. And 78 total vintage bikes.. I need to make it 79 with one of these!! I must find one
Loverly bike - Its a pushrod OHV not overhead cam - the cam sits high in the crankcase with an intermediate helical cut gear berween crank and cam so the stiff alloy pushrods are short - the carb is an Amal 30 mm on the Venom engine on the bike your showing - the Thruxton had a Amal GP - They were sold in rather bright metalic colours - that is the right silencer.
Thank you for pointing that out. Finding information on this bike was hard. Much of what I did find was conflicting and I'm grateful for any accurate info you can provide, thank you. Do you know anything about the clutch? It seems that the drive for the clutch from engine is different from typical motorcycles. Also, I found info stating that is was both a wet and dry clutch. The carbs were a black hole, no real info at all. Something I noticed and found interesting was the finned intake manifold of the Thruxton pictured. Would like to hear more about that. Also, I found info stating that the Thruxton hand different cam, ports & valve sizes. Do you know if the compression ratio was higher on that bike? Any other info/stories you can provide are of value to us. Though I stated it was an SOHC I did note place a note at that point in the video that it was a cam in case with OHV engine. Thank you for your comment, looking forward to hearing more from you on this. Am working on making a video on the BSA Fury that Baxter Cycle has. Hoping that will be out next week. Beautiful motorcycles!
@@forgottenmotorcycles A Thruxton engine is a Venom engine with a big valve head reputed to carry a 2" inlet valve and inlet track opemed up to match a 13/8" Amal GP - many changed that for a regular Amal as the GP had no provision for tick over setting - Genuine Thuxtons left the factory as such but many Venom's were converted as Velocette sold the head /cam etc as a upgrade kit for the Venom - a genuine factory Thruxton is worth considerably more. The clutch is wet and multi plate but unusal as it is outboard of the co-axial engine spocket necesitating a cluch dismantle to change the sprocket - this keept the cranckase narrow and ridged contributing to its relative smoothness - Interestingly a BSA Goldie 500 is in a higher state but little if any faster and not as as flexablle. At the Thruxton race track an almost standard Velocette with these mods managed 100mph for 24 hr hence adopting the name - I have a late 1970's book on the detailed difference - cam timing etc I will dig it out over the weekend
They had and sold a Velo Thruxton, it was a blue color. One thing that I noticed about that bike was the intake manifold and larger looking carb. I'm not an expert on these wonderful bikes. I envy you if you have or have rode one of these bikes. Very special indeed. Wahoo!
It really is. Really wish I knew more about this bike. Wish I could have got some video of the Indian Thruxton Baxter Cycle had in shop. The bike was on the floor for just a few days, a missed opportunity. Will try to make a video on the BSA Fury that is currently on there floor soon. Thanks you!
Enjoyed the videos, thank you! You've got some interesting bikes on your channel. Great work with that Indian/Enfield. Have liked & subscribed waiting for more on it. Wahoo!
Beautiful looking bike, pity they couldn't make more.
Wahoo 😁

I have a Thruxton engine one and I was told the gold colour is for the Thruxton engine and blue for Venom engines it's a fantastic ride

Nice bike, I have a Clymer Indian Enfield 750 with 853 miles from new.......

I'm afraid it's pushrod 2 valve engine, 86mm x 86mm. The clutch was of a multi plate typ
Nice!
It is not an OHC engine
You are correct.
Really good idea to do proper research before talking about a bike. Not much research done here!!
We'll try harder...
