My husband has gluten allergy and he missed his favorite Xmas cake for the past 10 years. Not anymore. Just one to one replacement with gf worked excellent for me. I'm sorry for not seeing this question sooner. You can keep it outside if you are soaking it with alcohol. But stir the fruits every 2-3 days and add more alcohol as needed if the fruits are becoming dry.
Hi Ma'am, lovely recpe. As a breast-feeding mom, i would like to make this without alcohol. Can you tell me a substitute for the last step of pouring brandy over the cake? Can i use orange juice here as well? Or can i skip this step?

Should I wash raisins before soaking. Will it go bad if there's water?
If the raisins are not clean then you should wash and dry it before soaking.

Yes you can use brown sugar instead of powdered sugar. It may add more color but not significantly

Yes, you can definitely use orange juice instead of alcohol
