Thank you so much for these videos. I am sometimes frustrated when my toddler gets distracted alot 😅 but these videos really motivates me that is just a normal part of the process
You are welcome! It's true that toddlers can get distracted pretty easily! I like to practice during bath time or other times when there may be less distractions around :)
I am happy you enjoyed the video. I am going to include a few links below where you can find more examples. toddlertalk.com/blog/speech-delay-in-toddlers toddlertalk.com/blog/focused-stimulation toddlertalk.com/blog/category/Activities And when I do my next round of videos I will add in more examples of speech therapy activities :)
Thanks for sharing, I will try these techniques to get our toddler to talk. We are raising an 18moth old with 4 languages currently. I speak Finnish, father is Spanish, between us we speak a mix of English and Spanish. We live in Switzerland so Swiss German and German he hears outside at the shops or playgrounds. Our toddler is vocal, constantly making noise and shouting but doesn’t say more than 5 words and not often either. 😓
this is super helpful. i love seeing the examples. i have a 17m old son and he doesnt have many words but lots of signs. seeing this helped me see i do a lot of this, but have misisng when he tries to copy me because it doesnt sound similad at all. in this example, is this normal speech development for an 18month old?
Yes, it can be so hard to notice those early imitations! I am happy to hear that these examples were helpful! And yes, this is an example of normal speech development at 18 months :)
Thank you for this Video ms. Toddler talk :), miss I just want to ask my son is very talkative but I didn't understand sometimes or most of the time what he said unless the last word...sometimes he said like a chinese though he's not a chinese and never heard chinese word. Can you recommend something ms. Toddler talk? Hope you can help me with my problem.
Hi. I am going to share a few resources with you that you may find helpful in understanding more about what makes toddlers hard to understand sometimes. You'll also find more information about how to find the support of a speech therapist in your area if you have concerns about pronunciation: - th-cam.com/video/dnSqC6Fa1SE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QdaidYSu5IhwDY4g - toddlertalk.com/blog/phonological-processes

Thank you ❤ I did not know what to do with my 18 month old she is not diagnosed yet but she is speech delayed. She says max of 10 words so I am worried but thanks to you I will try to do activities like this. Do you think that she gets confused if I speak English and Spanish to her?
Hi, speaking 2 languages does not confuse children :) Research shows that bilingualism does not hurt language development in children. Read this blog post I wrote that explains bilingual language development (and it's benefits!) in detail: toddlertalk.com/blog/bilingual-language-development
Amazing video🎉🎉It’s so hard for me to wait. I use to only wait for 1-2seconds😅 but now I see what I need to do I’ll try my best. My son is 29month and still cant really speak. Only 7-8 words.Bit worried in case if he has autism or something . For autistic kids do you still use same techniques?
Yes! Sometimes you have to wait quite a bit which can be so tough!! Yep! I use the same techniques with all children; however you'll find that some techniques work best for different personalities so it requires a bit of trial and error to see what works best for each individual child.
Hi :) Many of these activities or goals can be adapted for children depending on their interests and acquired skills. My recommendation is to talk with a care provider who knows your child and can make personalized recommendations for you. You may also utilize this tool which recommends lessons based on your answers to a 10 minute quiz I created - toddlertalk.com/toddler-talk-language-program
Hi Jasmin. Although he never had a speech and language evaluation, I would say his language skills were expected for his age. He understood the meaning of countless words, followed some directions, and said more than 20 different words on his own. These activities are just a tiny snapshot into one day, so all of his skills are not demonstrated here. And this highlights the importance of parent report, or parents sharing skills they observe their children using at home, during a speech and language evaluation because we can't judge communication based on a small snapshot alone. Hope this answers your question :)
I am Vietnamese, 37 years old this year, I am learning English by watching your videos. I'm like the kid in this video.😅
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Learning a new language is not easy. Way to go and I'm glad I could help!

Thank you for sharing. It helps to see a real child respond to these activities.

Is he newly 18 months here? Or closer to 19?
Hi Alysha. He was about 18 months and 1 week when this was filmed.
Would you say your nephew had a speech delay at this age?
Hi Jasmin. Although he never had a speech and language evaluation, I would say his language skills were expected for his age.
