Oh man, I remember playing this with my mom and messing with the ironing board, only to get the "game over" a few minutes down the line because apparently, just leaving an iron plugged in and facing very flammable wallpaper is a bad idea. Who woulda thought? Anyways, thanks for the Nancy Drew playthroughs, this was my childhood and it's great to relive it! :D

@@katjosephperez8772 there’s only a couple games in the ND series that have this kind of mechanic thankfully (I remember in Trail of the Twister, Nancy can offer characters candy/cheese but it doesn’t do anything) you can re-challenge characters on games but usually you can back out halfway through so it doesn’t trap you in an extremely long animation sequence

This stream was at like 6:30 AM my time and I set an alarm to be there but my body said NOPE, haha. Now for the fun facts I would've put in chat if I'd been there live...
    - If you try to ignore Harlan's request to go meet him in the whale at the beginning, he'll say some silly stuff: "Hello? Yoo-hoo! The whale is waiting..." and "The whale is getting impatient..." :D
    - You can fall off the carousel while trying to grab the ring. I think it happens if you click too far to the right because the game treats that as Nancy lunging off the horse to reach, haha. You get sent home for doing that.
    - That clipboard in Barnacle Blast had notes from Nick F. and he wrote that he had to "fight the power." Coincidence? Or perhaps our friend Nick Falcone has HADIT with being an activist and works as an engineer in the park now.
    - There's a scarlet handprint on the door to exit the roller coaster. Henrik, is that you?!
    - If you poke the button on the blue remote thing while you're still under the carousel, the horses above start moving and Nancy has to get out of the way or else she gets skewered, lol.
    - Barnacle Blast was also playable in the diner from Secrets Can Kill! They let you move the paddle using your mouse in that version and it's way easier that way.
    - There's a receipt on the floor in Elliot's studio that shows the purchase of a ton of bass wood. Hm, isn't bass wood one of the kinds that's really good for making carousel horses? Iiiinteresting...
    - If you talk to Harlan after your argument but before you make up, he says he doesn't want to talk because his back is sore from someone stabbing it. Oof.
    - The music during the post-game phone message for Bess is from Ghost Dogs! And the dog on Joy's notepad sure looks a lot like one of Malone's lil buddies, hm?
That's my information dump for this game. :P Can't wait for you to investigate Deception Island! Whales ruuuuule!

@@nilahfay1650 I find that games where there is no commentary are not very easy to follow if the game itself does not have a lot of dialogue going on. Hidden object games for example, need to have commentary with them in order for somebody with no site do you have a chance of understanding what is going on. Games that play out like a movie are much easier to follow with or without commentary. So I guess I’m saying, that it depends on the game, as well as the TH-camr who is playing that game. I hope I made some sense in my explanation.

A "red tag" is a lockout device or notice used when there is a danger. Houses can be red tagged if they are at risk of collapse, and equipment can be red tagged if they are so broken they could kill you or cause a ton of damage.
    What a fun game!

    • @russianvalkyrie2358
      @russianvalkyrie2358 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Construction equipment actually uses a system usually called "lock out tag out" where you cant turn on a machine when there is a tag on it. The tag signifies that someone is inside of or near the machine to repair it or any other reason. This way no one turns on something like a rock crusher while someone is inside of it.

I seriously regret not learning shorthand when I was in high school (it was one of the "secretary" type classes they still offered). It would have made taking notes in college so much easier.
This game has an amazing amount of learning in it. I love the Nancy Drew and HOG games you play. The stories are always fun, and relazing to watch. Thanks for playing them. Really appreciate them!

My grandmother was a secretary back in the day and an expert on shorthand and typing. Even outside of work when she jotted down grocery lists and such she would use shorthand. Also, when she typed, she could be looking at me and holding a conversation but be typing at a super high rate with no errors.

The Gregg shorthand is what my mother leaned in high school! When I was growing up, she always wrote our Christmas and birthday gifts down on a list in shorthand so no one else in the house could read it but she also could leave it lying around! Been trying to get her to teach me for years (just think how quickly you could take notes in school!). I think we still have her textbooks form school somewhere...

I wonder how common haunted carousel legends are. I had one in my home town that had mirrors around the sides, and there was a myth that if you looked into the mirrors while riding, you could sometimes see ghosts riding on unoccupied horses next to yours.

I grew up playing these with my sister and started a TH-cam channel solely dedicated to these games but ended up giving up as I just don't have the time or motivation to keep to it. It's great to see these games get the appreciation and recognition they deserve! They will always hold a special place in my heart.

for those more curious, check kiting is better described as somebody will deposit a check, the bank will give them a portion of the check while they verify it, that person will withdraw those funds, and then the check returns but they still have that money. more specifically, this happens when it’s multiple checks. if you deposit a lot of checks before the bank notices, you can get a lot but banks are getting better at catching it and closing the account before they’re able to do a bunch.

  • @ProletariatPrince

Check kiting is when you write a 100 dollar check to yourself even though you have only 50 dollars in the bank. It was more common before everything was digitized. Now if you go to deposit a check you put in your card and they know all your info as you deposit the check and the funds show right away. It used to be that banks would have to cross reference records with one another with no database. You could go from bank to bank depositing checks to yourself and cashing them and probably get away with it for a while. Today you would be caught almost instantly.
