- Stowaway Designs founder Jim Jemison has returned to The Den with a different product after pitching to The Dragons a few years prior. Jim's seeking a £25,000 investment in exchange for a 25% equity stake in his company. Peter Jones spots flaws in this outdoor furniture design, but what will the other Dragons think?
Season 12, Episode 6.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

They should have Jim back every year with a crazy invention.
Jim's third invention: underground chair
Hahaha. At least he tried. You did Jim, Jim, I'm under here.
The Evil Genius market
A ladder for a carpet fitter.
One day Jim will return...
No I reackon underwater chair lol
I like Jim. Great attitude and spirits.
Did you like his attitude at 00:10:43 ?
@@gazzyb85 when he laughed at Peter's joke and threw up peace ✌🏽 signs with both hands ?
Answer : Yes
Those aren't peace signs... lol...@@Absolutely.Horrible
@@Absolutely.Horrible Peace sign is the palm facing toward the person. The other way around (back of hand facing toward the person), Means something else.
He seemed like a really nice bloke
Northern for sure
Shame his invention is pointless.
@@BenjaminGoose Incredibly pointless, I hope he found success elsewhere
I pray his next invention is the money maker, he really deserves it
He deserves nothing
Why does he deserve it?
He should’ve stuck a flow signal on it. And they would’ve invested
He could make a call to The Knowledge.
😂
It's specially made for Rory's seaweed.
When it needs any maintenance, they could call in the Table Doctor for advice.
Only if it's red in colour.
3:28 lol imagine this being the reaction to your life’s work
That moment honestly reminded me of the "who's laughing now?" scene from Joker 🃏
THAT was very kind from Duncan, I've neer seen him being such a good sport
Sigh ... the dragons are so dismissive and insulting but Mr Jim still blesses them 🥺
It's a crap, pointless product, the dragons are correct.
@@BenjaminGooseI'd buy it, but i can also build it myself
Dear@@coldestbeer, I'm terrible at building things, so I think I will probably buy it 😁😅Hehehe!
yeah, he blesses them so kindly at 10:43
Like his upbeat personality
Yeah he seemed like a really decent bloke
Flowsignal guy in his early years dominating the inventionverse
When I saw the first thing, the table, I didn't think of private gardens, but for cafe's and street restaurants and other public spaces.
Not sure why Kelly is on this. She always looks annoyed and bored and never invests in amything.
She always looks like she smells something stinky.
she's honestly worse than jenny
A hydraulically operated table and chair set that rises from the floor isn't exactly something "Joe Public" would be able to afford, and a rich person wouldn't want something like that because their gardens are plenty big. The dragons didn't even bother going into the large amount of maintenance and electricity a hydraulic system requires, and of course there's the fact that folding furniture already does the job far better and at far less cost. The label of "over-inventive" fits Jim perfectly.
I'm not surprised the dragons didn't spend much time discussing the problems with hydraulic systems, on account of his invention not being a hydraulic system.
The product offered is a pneumatic system, not a hydraulic one. That's why he explicitely calls out his competition for doing hydraulic, which is much more "heavy-duty". I don't think it makes for a good product either, but there's not much maintenance or electricity required, once set up. Industrial pneumatic cylinders are designed for 24/7 operation and can, depending on size, do up to millions of cycles without needing attention.
No but what about show gardens, with moving plants and stuff. It would be cool!
@@TheManInBlueFlames there is definitely a market for it, and you could sell some. The bigger question is, is the market big enough for them to actually make their investment back. Let's say he makes the business work to a point that he can earn enough to feed himself with. That doesn't mean they will get anything back for their investment. It could take years just to get even. Not worth the investment.
Next time Jim comes back with a solar powered meat tenderiszer
You can melt volcanic rock with the Sun if you use a magnifying glass
The British show is so much more fun to watch sometimes because of folks like him
His next invention is the silent smoke alarm
Fastened to the wall by a detachable weld.
Or, the alarm only stops beeping when there's a fire
This technology already exists in and on yachts/boats. We were on Leopard 55 last year which had a dining table that could turn into a coffe table and then into the floor. This is already here lol
this was filmed like 10 years ago basically
@@alastairty8755 yeah I get that. Also, his are air driven pistons. The one we saw was powered by an electric motor.
@@alastairty8755 Even 10 years ago this was ancient technology. Weird he got a patent.
Shows his idea was good
@@jasonkillsformomyhe didn't get a patent for the product, he just got a patent for the twisting mechanism
Takes a lot to go into the den and pitch an idea…well done jim!
You kidding, right?
Good ol' Jim, hope he gets successful one of these days 👍🏾
I like this man.
He has such charm, I'd like to meet him.
Im his son he passed 7 years ago and I actually am his son I’m not just saying it he passed on the 24th of may 2017
"There are some wealthy people on this world, and sometimes they spend their money on rubbish"

Great seeing a fellow Salfordian on Dragons Den 😊
youell invent a winner one day jim
keep going
These are literally one faulty valve and seal away from being a landmine.
Worst use of literally ever. It's a low pressure water system, a garden sprinkler would do more damage.
@jakecooper5855 clearly not very experienced with high pressure air systems.. But you do you babes.
@@SuperPuggle Yes, you're clearly not very experienced with high pressure air systems (this isn't one).

@@BenjaminGoose says who?
Thanks for sharing these videos!
Regardless if the product is "awful" or not sometimes the Dragons can be very nasty and cruel.. I feel for Jim a little there...
Some people are truly delusional. They watched until the end his circus 🎪 and in the end it was time to face the music.
Some of em had a good laugh and that's it. Next time something that's worth your time. Six years of his time on the bloody earth, c'mon. 😅😅😂😂
Deborah’s nylon clad legs when The lift doors open. Absolutely superb!!!
For installed uses electrical (or basically anything else would be better). For small applications like this then just solar. This is just weird
It looks like it could be used in show gardens.
Great bloke!
I like how Peter acted like his old pal XD
Did he reverse peacesign them at the end in the lift?
He sure did
Never laughed so much during one of these, the banter was brill 😂🤟
3:28 - *LAUGHS IN MONEY* (Subtitles)
If you turn on the captions at 2:13, it says yes Pizza instead of Peter 😂
You must be new here
Does so on almost every episode 😅
Jim's next invention: the airless scuba gear tank
thought the dragons were rude. especially that woman that went out first.
Yeah, flickin' her fingernails at everyone.
I worked in a place that had outdoor seating, and we never brought in the tables and chairs.
I love Jim throwing the double bird after the elevator doors closed.
Those were peace signs.
I smiled at the clever idea for eating from the floor, it was not a moment to all look at each other and crack up. Seriously they do it so often, absolutely cracking up like that for what was no more than slightly amusing. I mean with the way they go, you would be expected to pause the video through tears of laughter obscuring your view and trying to get past it without being sick
It was, at best, a smile moment. Anyway 5 minutes later Debby explains about how her poncey mates have a marble floor that does it, so they eat from dirty toe rubbed marble, no one mentions it lol
Dare you to call her Debby to her face 😂
Jesus mate, you do crap on a bit, don't you?
@@RandomRouletteFun Oooo, never lol
Marble can be wiped down and cleaned easily tho?
That was an odd moment. The joke didn't need to be made - it had already been implied. Making a joke explicit that someone else has already implied is actually quite rude. I wonder if it was just edited badly
Love this guy ❤
☠️ He swore at them 10:41
I know, how rude! He should come up with a better invention.😂
hahahaha I laughed out loud here
I hope he came back after 3 years and they call it out 🤣
Best laugh I've had in ages.
The idea of this, especially in the early 10s when this was aired, was genius! To use these pop up garden products, one could easily create two or three layers of garden for garden shows or use them to carry plants or other things!
BUT: Have they ...... ??? NO because it makes no sense and if it did it wouldn't be practical AND it's too expensive.
Why would you need this for a multilayered garden? Why do you want your plants to move up and down?
One thing jim has learned second time around is this.....Dragon's den is not for him.
Thought it was Toby from The Office for a moment o.o
From the series “Amazing Discoveries”. Only Mike Levy is missing.
They definitely didn't remember him going by their reactions at the start lol
Love his Mancunian accent
Do you still get these legends around 😆
Why don't cars come with hydrologic Jack's built in the frame of the car.😂
They’re so rude to this poor man who is trying to do something with this creativity.
Nice character Jim
The value is in the mechanism. I bet that is what the patent is for, either essentially or wholly. Jim has to find a far better use for the mechanism.
There's nothing special about the mechanism, it's a straightforward pneumatic piston - he even has it on display. It rotates because it's just sealed with o-rings like any pneumatic piston is.
His patent would be for using it in a table, which in itself isn't much of a selling point because he's overcomplicated it. These types of tables exist in boats already and they're electric for several reasons and the same reasons would apply to this because there are numerous flaws with it for reliability and practicality.
@@karlfriedrich7758 Well, maybe I have remembered it wrong, how he explained it. Or maybe you did.
That up yours was well worth the watch ahaha
10:41 editors missed out on a great thumbnail
7:34 this isn’t a good point! The competition’s table is the one that crushes kids, not his! No idea why he conceded that lol.
Agreed, think Duncan went senile for a moment there
7:45 he shows he is smarter than all of them
What you all eating? I'm having my usual lentil soup in my lorry parked up in the Highlands 😁😁
Goulash
Genius Man inventor 😎 great invention🎉❤
there's over 10 different ways this could've been better and usable. Using decking - a perishable material, and pneumatics - a heavy and expensive system, is not one of them. Also, patented twist and lock? wat.
What are they?
@@jakecooper5855 add boobies
“I think it’s ridiculous” lol
...Apart from that is it okay?
No way I'll be placing my plate, utensils, drink, handbag, elbows, etc, on a table top that's been trodden by patrons walking to and from the public loo. Noooooo thanks 🙄 I'm with you, Mr Jones.
WAT?? Hydraulics kill people? How?? They're extremely much safer than pneumatic, which is basically explosive and high speed.
You can easily be crushed by a hydraulic system.
@@BenjaminGoose so can a pneumatic one too, but hydraulics are generally slow and easy to avoid and covered in labels everywhere
Jim also invented the popup toaster ..
Yurka!. What a great invitation. Not sure what it is though?. Who's bothered about, a table that pops up in the middle?. What's the point?. What do the Dragons know anyway? "'ooh I've got a goose in Windermere''. I've got one in Sheffield. So what.
"Don't worry kids, I sorted it. There's an air raid going off & although all the power and water is out; I can get us into the water pressure door opening....nuclear....bunker.... ahhh crap".
I bet the creators of the show chose him to come on just for the lolz, knowing it would be a fun show.
Gut wrenching to watch ........
nice guy
The creation I've been building would 100% interest the dragons!
Good guy is jim
Peter : 1:33 , Kelly 1:41 HAHAHAH
I don't understand this product
At least he's a funny guy lol
Someone has to stop this guy before he invents the wheel.
Jim is a very likeable guy in the Den. Shame he doesn’t have better ideas.
I can't believe it's not custard ?
He is now a multi-millionaire with this invention found on virtually all yachts nowadays.
Wait.....! Is this the flow signal guy?!?!?!?!
Takes a lot of bravery and intelligence to go invent something, start a business and then go into the den and pitch an idea…well done jim!
98% of the people watching have and never will.
Don’t worry mate Kelly is terminally unhappy, you were perfectly pleasant
Met her more than once, no manners, arrogant trollop
Who named these chapters? 😂
Who else is cooking or having dinner right now? Please let me know
Just eating cheap cold rice pudding out of the tin mmmmmmm
did he ever come back a 3rd time?
And he sold his business for 4 million thanks to the patent that existing companies needed to improve their product. He proved them wrong.
love that! is this true?
BS
Even if that's true it's not the business that worked
And all the food that drops off the table collects in the oh so easy to clean depression. You have to dig down a meter so that the top can rise 75cm and be stable. It is an idiotic implementation.
He looks like an older version of Derek Cousins
It's funny how he thinks a plate fixes eating off the floor. I wonder if he would eat food from a restaurant if they first put his plated food on the floor.
10:43 someone please edit this and leave just one finger up!
Next invention pop up house put hose on and a 3 bed appears
Why pneumatic? Doesn't make sense..
Pneumatic is for smaller stuff. Hydraulic is for heavy. Building such a system for a table would be overkill. Just like you wouldnt buy a truck just to carry a beach ball. Too expensive
The dragons have become less rude recently. The behaviour in this video is so rude and mocking. Apart from Duncan.
The ladies are obsessed with Jim
We should just live underground but it’s on a giant elevator and we go up when the mole people bother us
