The scratching was done by then 12 year keyboard player Maya. The ages when they recorded this Kate (drums) 13, Polina (bass) 14, Anna (Lead G) 19 and Maria (G/Vocals) 15.
There are some reactors who review them as if they are seasoned veterans instead of the very talented kids they are with bags of potential and a fantastic journey ahead. The same people gush over a certain other young all female band at the same age range, saying how good they are for their age. I don't understand it, especially when you understand their hard journey to now.
Thanks for your great reaction again. I can't wait to see where these girls head to next in their journey.

Glad you liked the reaction! It was definitely a jammin' song. (Jeremy here) I cant explain what other reactors do or why they gush over other artists. I can only assume you mean The Warning? If that's the case...I think it's more of a stylistic thing. The Sixsters feel more Pop/Punk-ish to me, with some rock elements thrown in. The Warning feel like they're much more intense and hard rocking to me. Also, when it comes to drums...even as a 13 year old...Pau was definitely doing more on the drums than Kate. It's not a competition...but just trying to explain a little from why I think you may feel that way. But like you said...they were SO young. You have to come into your own. Maybe The Warning had a slightly easier time, not having to deal with a war in their country, and having to flee. Maybe the Sixsters were stunted in some ways by that...which make their climb even more impressive when you think of that. But again...not a competition....just my ideas of why they may not get the same response. Thanks again for your response, and for the support! You rock!

@@musikbyjh The way that I look at it is like this. The Warning are exceptional/exceptions. When they were teenagers, they were doing things well beyond their years. Think of any major rock star band you want - pick any name. Now imagine how they sounded at 12, 13 years old. *Probably* not quite rock star material yet, right? How did you sound at guitar when you were 13? None of that applies to The Warning though. They blew people's minds as little girls. Now, here come The Sixsters. They are not The Warning because NO ONE is The Warning! But if The Warning didn't exist (shudder) we'd be saying "Dang, these teenage girls (The Sixsters) can really play." The are far more advanced than the typical 14 & 15 tear old.

Yeah, comparing The Sixsters with The Warning is like apples to oranges. The Warning found a groove and genre that worked for them early on, and had many uninterrupted years, and home schooling later on that allowed them to tour at a younger age.
In contrast, The Sixsters have a very wide range of genres, and combinations of genres, which they shift between effortlessly. This is impossible to know, unless you have listened to all of their albums.
As for stability, The Sixsters have experienced the horrors of war, the tragedy and displacement, fleeing to countries where they didn't even know the languages, and even having Kate's house, where they practiced, being destroyed by bombs. And of course the ensuing loss of members. It's a testament to the human spirit that they pulled it all together, and keep creating and sharing their art.
As far as being early prodigies, all I can say is look closer into their backgrounds, you'll be amazed.

@@jcparker500 I don’t disagree with what you say. I’m definitely not comparing them to The Warning though. But I AM seeing more and more 9-13 year olds who are mindblowing musicians. The internet has mad it so much easier to learn on your own. Kids are starting younger and younger. So, it makes sense that this is possible in today’s day. I think it’s awesome.

The first half of the song is acoustic, but in the second half of "I Stare at You" Kate has a nice little solo where she does use the toms. It's a slower song, but I love it.

I couldn't find any contest footage, but here is the first video Kate's sister posted on Kate's channel, self-taught at 7 years old, hits lots of toms. She's been constantly practicing and performing in the almost 9 years since. How about a contest between Kate and Jeremy? I know who I'd bet on. 😉 I'm going to give up at this point at trying to prove Kate's prodigious abilities and hope you just enjoy the songs as they are written. 😀

Anna, too, is a virtuoso who is very conservative about what she plays in The Sixsters' songs. She was classically trained for 10 years on piano and classical guitar, before she went electric. The best place to go to see her mind-blowing lead covers is her Instagram account, everything from Pink Floyd to Eric Johnson, Whitesnake, complex modern jazz and more.
All this to say, The Sixsters are brimming with talent, and the musical choices they make are very deliberate. I actually hope they will write some songs where Kate and Anna can show off their virtuosity, but I love their music the way it is. 😀 🤟🤟🤟 I think I also requested Same Kid, but didn't listen to see if it had a lot of toms. 😉

😆 You crack me up, Jeremy, in search of the elusive Kate toms.. Well, Kate is fully capable of playing toms, as your friend pointed out in the Fever video (and as can be seen in the link I posted below of her at 7). She is simply playing to the song, and making musical choices, so your critique is really more about the composition of the song than Kate's abilities. Another player in the band who is also a virtuoso is Anna (I'll post a link of her covering Nuno Bettencourt), and she, too, plays to the song and does not show off, even though she can cover Van Halen and make it look easy. So it's not about ability, it's about compositional choices. Like your drummer friend said, sometimes you try things out and they don't work in the song. It would be fun to see you cover a Sixsters song and throw in some fills. 😀
That being said, I hope you can sit back and enjoy the music the way they intended it. I've posted other videos of Kate playing incredibly well when VERY young, including one below. There's no question she's a phenomenal player.

@@rustyford2790 rusty. Lol. Come on man. You can’t have a “reaction” channel from a musician, and not get their opinions. As I said in other comments…I simply haven’t SEEN anything from her. You seem to have the knowledge of much more than I do. So, with the 4 songs we’ve done…that’s my only pool of information to base an opinion on. Let’s be logical here buddy. If you only saw those 4 songs, I can’t imagine you’d go around saying she’s a phenom. Now that I’ve seen her in her own videos, playing other songs, I can see the talent. You gotta give me the opportunity to see it. I’ve been pretty fair.

    • @DanL---2024
      @DanL---2024 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hmm... Kate Kuziakina and her father founded this band, so not sure how Pau would fit in. :) Kate is making deliberate choices about what she does in each song. Although some folks want to see her do something mind-blowing to prove her virtuosity, that is not the way the band has chosen to write songs. I have put links in this and other reactions of Kate at 7 or 9 years old nailing complicated riffs. In the past couple years, the focus has been on survival, not competing in drum contests.
If people want a more current video, I recommend Sina's video where both she and Kate play "Fever." Toms up the wazoo. 😂
