Could you give me an explanation as to how these waves should be handled? I truly don’t know and have always wondered? Great channel for entertainment but it really leaves me wondering what they should be doing?
@@somedayzo6 If you have a jack plate drop it low about 1-2 inches from the bottom. Then trim the motor up to lift the nose of the boat up. You may need a good hrydro foil like the sea ray. Just because you can afford one does not automatically mean you should have one. Sea states can and do change dramatically and most people who ride in a boat have no concept of how that boat will behave based on tide and wind.
ah yes lets get someone hurt so we have to turn back, that sounds fun. We have seen how many people get tossed out of the boat. The best ones are.. The person falls out and then they go and pick them up, let them come to the back of the boat with the engine still running

Damn right it's all on the captain!! Maybe if he warned them about riding up front before they left the dock but safety is still oh him. Especially if it's a charter.
The Vandutch h hull is classic. That drop nose bow adds massive bow buoyancy. Its pretty good for boats you want to ride like a doser but id avoid it for boats built light for skimming. Id probably built one for Hawaii fishing to see how it did but ultimately, the Radon seems to be the best out here for bow cabs . The Radon has a skim boat bottom for going fast but a huge , wide doser front for slow. The ride is always smoothe and doesn't rock when sitting. For large stern fishing boats ,they need massive bow buoyancy. Your video show boats with dipped bow , skim tapered bottom and open bow full of people. That kind of boat will take on water turning on its own wake. Going through that inlet , wrong boat and with captains filling the boat with the bow full of people is a sign, not everyone should be allowed to vote. LoL 😂
When I was growing up in New Jersey, a rite of passage was a trip to Action Park in Vernon Township. For those who have not heard, this was a very large waterpark (with a few other attractions) where every slide was designed by literal amateurs. Safety wasn't just a secondary consideration, it wasn't a consideration at all. "Traction Park" and "Fracture Park" were just two of the nicknames for the place, but it never kept anyone away. It was a point of pride just to survive the place more or less unscathed. I did. Several times. (I did get there the year they opened the infamous looping waterslide, but it was too hazardous even for them, and they shut it down just a couple of weeks into the season, before I managed to make the trip.) I would guess that riding the bow through Haulover with a marginal captain at the helm has a similar allure.
You know the reason that looping waterslide got shut down was because the first guy to go through it didn't actually make it through and drowned, right? I think that slide killed 2-3 people before they shut it down. I've read about that waterpark. The entire thing was a disaster.
I have asked this question before, but don't get any answers. Why do skippers just about always go straight out through the center of this inlet. This is always the roughest area, less wave action down the sides and a lot calmer to the left as they past the end of the rock. Checkout what I mean, 2 small boats at 3:00 and 7:50 marks do exactly this, maybe small boat skippers have more brains.
6:50 - Can anyone explain to me why a lot of these fishing boats have a single fly bridge like this, really high up, one seat only? I know many of them have controls up there so the boat can be sailed from that seat, but it LOOKS like captaining from up there would be so unsteady, like you’d be thrown right off with even a small turn, balance completely thrown out of whack? Is it purely for the view, so a captain can see fish from a higher standpoint? And would that make any difference? You may see the odd fish from there but they don’t stay in one place, by the time you steer the boat there… fish have moved away or gone deeper? Ya… I am NOT a fisherman at all and my boating experience is limited to 4 years owning a 28 ft sailboat (one season), and a SeaRay 340. I am FAR from an experienced captain. These super high fly bridges have always confused me… I don’t think I would ever want to be up there. 🤠👍🏼☮️
I dont have a boat but I do a ton of fishing and I'd say its for sighting fish at slower speeds and calmer waters. Lots of game fish like to cruise the surface or hangout near floating debris. All of which is much for visible from higher up
From 0:08 to 0:38... the 30 longest seconds our portly passenger ever endured. His extra ballast made gravity really pound his adipose six o'clock. Not the captain's fault. This guy knew what was up.
Lake Waters, Nashville, Tennessee with a Baja 260 can handle it with ease no problem but nothing like what I’m watching now! Everyone, please stay safe out there please !!😊😮

N caught a tv cable line n ripped it down n the wire hit a car did minimal damage, was not our fault due to cable company let the wire hang after recent mate once to low…. Boat was total fine n ripped like the one in this video👊🙌💪🙏💯👊🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Let’s put as much weight as possible as far forward and aft as possible, and then motor relatively quickly into a short sharp confused chop. It’ll be fun. 😂
Why pay for these boats then buzz through Haulover Inlet on a rough days and tear them up?? You can't tell me they aren't twisting and jaring these boats, loosening stringers, weaking areas of the hull. Look at the side door on this one, flexed-which these boats are not made to do-so much water comes in the closed side dock door. 1:02
The Midnight Express 43' open seem to manage the inlet well. Better or more smart captains comes with more $$ invested? Hmm, perhaps the risk of loss breeds caution.
I've watched quite a few of these Haulover videos. I'm from Australia and was wondering why is it not mandatory to wear a lifejacket when crossing the bar or inlet??

Yeah, what is it with all the boats with downward sloping bows? The results are so predictable, and potential dangerous. They aren’t even attractive.

Pretty sure that’s like the first page of any training booklet - skipper is responsible for the safety of the vessel and all crew at all times.
Which one is a million dollar boat?
VANDUTCH hull design looks like a throwback from the early 1900s I like it
You'll notice that it does a far better job of cutting through the waves for a boat of its size. That design is timeless for a reason.
I love the lines on that Van Dutch, it reminds me of the classic Chris Craft (maybe even Elco) wooden powerboats.
Me too! Just stunning, beautiful lines.
I was surprised how well it shed the bow wave off to the side !!

I would think the hull is not flared enough. Also, that forward hatch should be closed exiting the inlet!
Damn right it's all on the captain!! Maybe if he warned them about riding up front before they left the dock but safety is still oh him. Especially if it's a charter.
Maybe he did and they just wanted to ride there anyways.
Unfortunately, I don’t believe most of these captains even know basic safety regulations or protocols.
Van Dutch looks like a 1920s rum runner, nice lines and notice no slamming.
