Some other nice evasion adjacent things are -Dread Banner causing nearby enemies to have 20% less accuracy rating, which scales with aura effect. for pure evasion characters this is way better than defiance banner -% additional evasion chance Grace Watcher's eye mod, which can roll up to +8%, this can worth upwards of a 100k or more evasion rating
There is also the mark node near the Hunter, Shadow area which gives marked enemies 10% less accuracy plus 10% more damage against marked enemies. I think thats a really good mark node.
Dread Banner might be better for evading attacks, but Defiance Banner also has the reduced crit chance mod which work against spells too, so I wouldn't say that Dread Banner is necessarily better, especially if you are able to get close to the evade cap without a banner.
@@Nimroc I mean i think thats more of an aspect of if youre doing a corruped crit rolled high tier map, or bosses/mobs with shotgun/multi hit mechanics where crit can be more fatal/threatening. I think a significant part of the reason why Blind effect is underrated is cos you don't actually SEE (heh) it doing anything anywhere. If you get evasion nodes, you evasion rating number goes up. Same with armor nodes, life nodes, mana nodes, ES nodes, damage nodes, etc. But blind effect doesn't seem to change anything, you still just see that the monster has the same Blind sparkle over their heads as before. Of course the numbers in the character sheet are often outright lies, and you could arguably say this about aura effect as well. But you can still see that at least something has changed in those other cases, and even aura effect makes turning on your auras have a bigger effect than before (and aura effect has been promoted a lot by the community as extremely powerful too, so you sort of just go along with that). Blind effect is one of those stats whose impact is so under the hood that it feels like wasted points for most people. Even those who realize it does something often can't tell the magnitude of the difference it's making unless they manually calculate it. If you're invested heavily into evasion, you'll only feel comfortable when you hit that 95% evade cap - at which point blind effect is near useless (completely useless if accuracy is also not an issue).
blind is a nice throw in but its just ye old evasion problem of not helping with 1 shots at all. I do like the design of those skill tree nodes tho. Take a weakish mechanic and boost it by big numbers to make it nice. We need more of those.
Blind is not, and never was supposed to be used alone. I hear what you are saying, in fact I see that a lot, poe is a game where you need several layers of defense, blind is not designed to be used alone. Of course you want to mix in many other forms of defense, it is by design that blind is one dimensional and useful when stacking other forms of defence
Yeah, blind doesn't change evasion fundementally, just that with this amount of increased effect you can reach high chance to evade with lower investment into evasion then you can invest elsewhere into other defenses to cover evasions inherent flaws
Evasion defense is all about reducing the number of hits you take, and then having sources of MASSIVE mitigation that counter the occasional hit coming through which then go down for a while. That's why many evasion focused mechanics have large damage reductions on them - Wind Dancer, Kintsugi, Aspect of the Crab, etc. So it's not true that evasion doesn't protect from 1-shots. If you are negating most of the shots coming your way, then those 1-shot protection mechanics will be up when you need them to be.
Some extra points - high chance to evade also makes you crit pseudo immune, as evasion rolls the hit twice... once to hit and second to crit - since the blind nerf, the second sight keystone (maraketh jewel blind melee crit) is a much easier thing to run. Also with accuracy masteeies per dex, the jewels inherent dex almost covers itself Blind is good as a pseudo grace replacement, but doesnt require mana reservation. Good for herald builds, spellslinger etc. Sabo is blind king
The main problem with blind is the sources to get it are "nearby" and "on hit", meaning you don't get it until it's too late in a game where one shots are the best defensive mechanic.
Yeah on totem builds that are hitting many many times per second, the abyss jewels are usually enough to guarantee blind on pretty much everything. Super high value mod
blind (with no effect even) + dread banner + jade flask with % evasion = >35% evasion chance. This is a GIGA trick for mapping i use when i play squishy melee ascedancies. Every strong for mapping. The reason is simple: getting to lower the enemy's accuracy is expotencially benefiting your evasion rating, so dread banner and blind is a match made in heaven for low evasion builds, or only armour builds for example. Of course abusing blind effect and aura effect thru a champion with some investment into evasion can get you a super easy 85+% chance to evade insanely easy. indeed an underrated effect considering blind passives also have some decent dps. Also after this i think its time for arrow dancing video :P
Yeah, dread banner combined with blind can become quite crazy with scaling effect, you can get super high evade chance with tiny amounts of evasion. Arrow dancing keystone highlight might be soon indeed
just modified a pob for a shockwave cyclone slayer to grab both those blind wheels, and if you use the crafted 2h weapon %inc phys up to 20% chance to blind on hit, thats up to 50% blind on hit with just that. With all the blind effect, 27K evasion is evade capping vs pinnacle bosses. Amazing. This means you don't need a jade flask at all. And this lowers the accuracy requirement so with just impact ascendancy, it is 98% chance to hit with no accuracy anywhere on tree or gear. Any little bit puts it to max. Obv, you want some so you have those higher hit chances to initially blind them, and to deal with evasive monsters. But this saves a ton of accuracy and evasion investment. and 135% inc chance to crit vs blinded enemies is amazing. The freed up accuracy and evasion nodes makes up for the entire investment yet gives better results if already pathing over there. 300k ehp vs non bosses in t16 maps with dogshit gear. amazing.

Hey, I know it seems to be "basic" info that maybe gets taken for granted, but I haven't actually been able to find any good boss prep guide anywhere. There are good guides on what bosses do and how to not get hit by stuff, but they're made by people who for various reasons only need to know how to not get hit by stuff. Yeah, of course shaper beam is easy to avoid if you've been playing end game for years or spent time farming it, but for the rest of us maybe we could use hints like temporarily taking lethe shade if reasonable to grab. Or that for Sirus it's all spell damage so evade is useless but some of it is actually PHYSICAL spell hit damage so iron reflexes might be a worthwhile adjustment. Some of this info gets passed on here and there, and it can sort of be deciphered in the database. But again, I think people just get good at the boss mechanics themselves and kind of forget that this stuff might help people who get hit by more things or have messier DoT ground effect management for lack of practice. So somehow even a basic RPG explanation of this boss deals so and so elemental spell damage with high piercing with no attack damage so these mitigations are literally useless and these are particularly useful seems hard to come by. Just something to think about if you get bored as you seem to put together some of the most thoughtful/thorough yet understandable explanations. =P

The problem is the most dangerous mechanics in the game are spells and degen, you can easily outscale defences to make attacks feel negligible with determ+grace
I’m still a newer player, but on my boneshatter Jugg, with flasks up, I have 140k Armour, using determination, but no Grace. No suppression either. My Armour plus the regen/recoup/leech seems to make up for it. I never feel threatened.
There's not much ability to scale it and even with a full evasion/debuff set out, you still get instantly killed, and since most "nearby" blinds can mean in melee range, you still will very likely get hit before the debuff sticks AND evasion is not a 100% thing, eventually you will get hit and if it's and thing rare or higher it's likely going to oneshot you in a full evasion build. And that's just considering physical hits, your still screwed if its aoe, magic, accurate, curse immune, debuff immune.. the cost goes up significantly if you try scaling miss chance, when just having multiple layers is more effective. I tried this with a curser and it was amusing, you rarely needed to care unless it hit you, but since most bosses just have a massive aoe or spell hit it's not very useful then, if it reduced overall damage like enfeeble it might be the most OP debuff in the game.
I understand where you're coming from, but I feel as if the point of the video has been missed here. The idea here is that you can reach a higher evade chance with investment into blind effect rather than into evasion with basic blind. This has absolutely nothing to do with spells, as you'll be gearing defensively elsewhere for those regardless. Evasion as a stat has always been most powerful when you combine it with other defenses, but again, that's not the point of the video. You can absolutely have multiple defensive layers and scale blind effect, they're not mutually exclusive. Also, attacks are not limited to physical hits, and 'debuff immune' is not a thing, even bosses are not immune to blind. I discussed the 'accurate' and precision aura mobs in the video, and blind effect is FAR superior defensively against those mobs than directly scaling evasion in terms of investment per evade chance.
tru dat. Disorienting Display is one of my favorite elemental cluster jewel nodes, 25% ele dmg and 10% chance to blind when a ele skill is used, not attack or hit, but when ele is used in any way such as passively just shocking or chilling nearby enemies they will get blinded as well.
@@JetcannonM back then I played tempest shield orb of storms before it was made into an aura and casting tempest shield would give you an aura that lingers for a couple seconds blinding anything you run across
@@ayoCC I found it pretty odd at first because I thought that it was a nice little occasional bonus blind since Disorientating Display is only 10% chance but my corpses that shocked nearby were blinding everything instantly. I will definitely check out blind effect with life recoup and evasion. My damage is often very good but my defense suffers. I'm a noob who makes my own builds sitting reading wiki for hours but once I make something cool it's a great feeling. + when you make your own stuff it's not mainstream and everything you need is cheap. I already have my next build though out.. it's an old build I did before but "improved" I hope since the game always changes with new items. Can't wait for next league.
I always liked the idea of blind chance, so I was super excited to see this video and tell me why I should continue trying to use it. One thing I noticed - as soon as you said "42% less" it clicked that it was a less multiplier, not a reduced multiplier. That's so much stronger than my brain was processing. Odd question - does the marked target count as near itself and also get blinded? The wording makes me unsure if the marked enemy itself is also blinded.
blind on paper looks so good but i have tried it 2 times after the rework and it did not play that well. i think the problem is with evasion it does not scale as good as other defenses i mean on paper if u go from 80% evasion to 95% u have effectively quadrable ur effectively hp vs attacks but in practice it does not feel as good as scaling other defensive stats at all there is something wrong with evasion but i cant figure it out. i don't know do you guys have the same feeling?
to get 95% usually i get watchers eye 8% evasion as it is very good because it adds it after the calculation is done meaning that that 8% usually requires something like double evasion if not for the watchers eye
I think it largely depends on the rest of your defensive setup. If you're using a watchers eye grace mod for additional chance to evade, you can get away with a crazy low amount of evasion and still have a giant chance to evade with wind dancer/blind effect. If evasion is your only layer, the attacks that do hit you will hurt, but fe. if you have some phys taken as to deal with phys hits, or some stats like additional PDR, or obviously if you're using determination it will feel a lot better. Physical damage is usually the problem for pure evasion builds, so if you have ways to deal with that, if feels amazing as a defensive stat imo
@karahin409 I think the entropy system is better than pure luck, so I don't think it's whats causing this issue I think what dreamcore said is kinda true that when I went all in on evasion I don't uselly take Armour so phys damage spikes when combined with spells kills you maybe? I don't know
@@finalfragment8432Getting some sources of “physical damage from hits taken as fire/lightning/cold” would solve this issue. I was able to get to 100% phys taken as ele on my pathfinder, and had capped spell suppression. That plus even a small amount of evasion and you are almost literally immortal. I was at 90% physical damage reduction with essentially 0 armour.
Blind problem is not effecivity, its main source "blind on hit". Dead monster have 0% to hit you, bosses have alot phases, where they immune to hit, or have different damage entity.
XD though the sarn arena has ppl running max block blind/buff builds XD...or block damage retaliation builds+ev XD...lotta ppl playing around with POB up in that place
Well, the video has nothing to do with investing more into defenses against attacks - the idea is that you can reach higher evade chance by using blind effect compared to scaling evasion alone with basic blind. The spells will be there regardless
It's the opposite. None of the bosses have blind immunity (unless the map mod has it). The issue is that most bosses use spells (hi SIrus), and blind does nothing against those.
@@kelex1298 Though you could use Kongming's Stratagem for 30% reduced spell damage taken from blinded enemies, problem is it doesn't really have much else going for it.
@@Nimroc I've tried it and its good for trap-based builds, especially Sabo or using the Forbidden jewels. With 100% suppress +3%+2% additional reduction, Kongming, and Sabo's node, it reduces a buttload of spell damage. I did it with fire trap sabo as a starter and with 0 investment in defense other than those, it tanks all non-uber spells other than the ones intended for one-shots.
I really disagree with the basic premise of the video though--that the investment is small. If you don't play an elemental build, you generally have no reason to go near wind dancer, as you'd take the Revenge of the Hunted notable going from above it on the ranger/shadow route, from the cluster slot (because cluster) to the Charisma wheel, or vice versa. If you *do* play an elemental build, you can pick up forces of nature with a large thread of hope in ranger jewel, if you don't use that for brutal restraint or lethal pride. Just that whole wheel is in an exceptionally awkward spot. Furthermore, using influenced gear in a slot that can be used for eldritch gear is a MASSIVE opportunity cost. Heck, even some double-corrupted uniques are a much better use than some sort of blind mechanic. That basically leaves the abyssal jewel's paltry 8% chance to blind on hit--which may be decent vs. rares dependent on attacks to be sure--but even then, getting that silent steps notable is just SO awkward. One can also use a blind setup in a manaforged arrows setup, but again, on a crit build with a 4L, you have frenzy-manaforged-pcoc-culling strike. Is it worth dropping either the cull or the pcoc? It isn't that the stat is underrated, IMO, it's that the opportunity cost no matter where one gets the blind (outside of the occasional abyssal jewel) is just *SO* steep.
Blind is meh because evasion ain't that popular. People prefer consistency in their defences. Or at least I do. After seeing is this video I am now considering making a build that relies more on evasion and blind just to see how it feels to play.
Chance to evade is shit tier, most attack hits that kill you in the endgame can’t be avoided. Just absolute shit compared to every other defensive mechanic
i dont say this cant be effective but, passive skills are the most limited stats in the game. every time u spend passives for stats which can be achieved on gear, you are nerfing your build. remember the +2 arrows for 8 points on tree compared to synth mods....it was the most GGG-ish nerf in recent patches. yet ppl were happy about it: "we get 2 arrows" XD
The point of the video is that you can typically achieve higher evade chance with less investment into evasion by investing into blind effect instead, but I get your point
I would suggest you add "blind effect explain" or something like that in the video title, cuz if im a player and wanted to make a build using blind mechanic, i would search keyword "poe blind effect"etc. Having "blind" on the title will help finding this video. These video are very useful, i hope more people found your channel

Wait like what? Occultist chill aura as well?
@@ayoCC Yes I would think so. I was playing Necro Corpse Pact and my corpses shock/chill nearby enemies and would also blind them.
I believe the marked target is not blinded with that mastery
@@dreamcore_gg I logged on to test some other things and decided to test this as well, and it looks like the marked target does become blinded.
@@TraxisOnTheLines Oh that's a really good mastery then
bro i have amulet that makes every enemy nearby blinded
The Ignomon?
@@dreamcore_gg prolly idk
Try assassin nightblade paired with this.
Blind is really cool 😎
blind on paper looks so good but i have tried it 2 times after the rework and it did not play that well. i think the problem is with evasion it does not scale as good as other defenses i mean on paper if u go from 80% evasion to 95% u have effectively quadrable ur effectively hp vs attacks but in practice it does not feel as good as scaling other defensive stats at all there is something wrong with evasion but i cant figure it out. i don't know do you guys have the same feeling?
to get 95% usually i get watchers eye 8% evasion as it is very good because it adds it after the calculation is done meaning that that 8% usually requires something like double evasion if not for the watchers eye
the reason is PoE uses pseudo-random calculation instead of pure random on evasion
I use the watchers eye blind mod
Using blind on a raider is pretty nutty
Yeah Raider can reach massive evade chance with a very small investment into evasion
@dreamcore_gg absolutely. Meaning they can invest harder into armor and still et the full benefit of evasion
And then a spell caster mobs comes around with 3 times more base damage than attack monsters
Well, the video has nothing to do with investing more into defenses against attacks - the idea is that you can reach higher evade chance by using blind effect compared to scaling evasion alone with basic blind. The spells will be there regardless
blind is basically useless if you have low evasion
yes it does less evasion but very minimal
preeety sure most bosses have blind imunity soo
Afaik none of them have blind immunity
It's the opposite. None of the bosses have blind immunity (unless the map mod has it). The issue is that most bosses use spells (hi SIrus), and blind does nothing against those.
@@kelex1298 Though you could use Kongming's Stratagem for 30% reduced spell damage taken from blinded enemies, problem is it doesn't really have much else going for it.
@@dreamcore_gg huh really* still wont use it ever
@@Nimroc I've tried it and its good for trap-based builds, especially Sabo or using the Forbidden jewels. With 100% suppress +3%+2% additional reduction, Kongming, and Sabo's node, it reduces a buttload of spell damage. I did it with fire trap sabo as a starter and with 0 investment in defense other than those, it tanks all non-uber spells other than the ones intended for one-shots.
Shhhh. Don't give GGG ideas, I like my strong blinds 😂
I've seen loads of builds with 80-90% chance to evade without blind. They're missing out.
🔥🔥🔥
After seeing is this video I am now considering making a build that relies more on evasion and blind just to see how it feels to play.
nooooooooooo exposing my sleeper op evasion based builds
Chance to evade is shit tier, most attack hits that kill you in the endgame can’t be avoided. Just absolute shit compared to every other defensive mechanic
Snitch
i dont say this cant be effective but, passive skills are the most limited stats in the game. every time u spend passives for stats which can be achieved on gear, you are nerfing your build. remember the +2 arrows for 8 points on tree compared to synth mods....it was the most GGG-ish nerf in recent patches. yet ppl were happy about it: "we get 2 arrows" XD
The point of the video is that you can typically achieve higher evade chance with less investment into evasion by investing into blind effect instead, but I get your point
so you're saying investing in blind effect is a buff for evasion builds?
I would suggest you add "blind effect explain" or something like that in the video title, cuz if im a player and wanted to make a build using blind mechanic, i would search keyword "poe blind effect"etc. Having "blind" on the title will help finding this video. These video are very useful, i hope more people found your channel
Blind effect is in the tags but I will indeed add it to the title - appreciate the kind words!
