Hello, Sue! Nice to meet you! Haha...I have no intentions on quitting either! Oooh, they sound dreamy, which ones?!? I've tried Paul Rubens glitter pastels and Sennelier Iridescence oil pastels. Do I need some more?
YES, exactly! That is one thing I was hoping to show, without being preachy. I love that there is no disposable plastic, especially. You could reuse everything in the box if you are up for it really. ;)
I love the schmincke brand acrylic inks they are definitely one of my favorite purchases of the year they play well with other acrylic inks as well. A very nice haul I’m now very interested in the floral palette you showed in the video! Hoping you enjoy all of your new supplies ☺️
Thank you! I am loving the Schmincke inks as well. I've found another yet another art medium that is so fun. Thank you, I have not mixed brands together yet. I hope you were able to get the Schmincke Floral palette, they lowered the price even a bit more. Thank you so much, I am loving everything! Enjoy your inks! ;)
You are so welcome! Oh, great idea...thanks for sharing! I haven't tried charcoals much yet, so I appreciate the suggestion. Thank you, I love them so much! ;)
I have the Schmincke set in the leather pouch. I bought it last November. It is really nice combo of colors. I really like the geraniums red, Perylene green and violet, and the ultramarine. All very lovely.
Still waiting for the Floral Schminke set to arrive in the mail (second watercolor set ever, first is a Daler Rowney Aquafine that been using for years). I keep tuning to this video just looking at the swatches & can't wait to see how they mix! I kept on debating whether to get that set or the leather set because the case is so nice but ultimately went for the floral set because like the colors better.
Oh wow! I'm sooo happy for you! I hope you love your Schmincke Floral palette as much as I do! I can't wait to play and mix with it, as well. I don't think you could have went wrong with either palette. Please let me know how you like it. ;)
You can never be too late! ;D I think you would love Jackson's for art supplies. Just please know, for all that is good and holy...DO NOT order using FedEx!! Order using the tracked shipping, or DHL only. Jackson's is my favorite art store. Lots of beautiful, unique items, samples and info that I can't find here in the USA. It used to be much more affordable for brands especially Schmincke...but prices seem to be more competitive recently. They also offer a Black Friday Schmincke palette every year. It's a usually a much better color selection than the basic 12 half pan set, IMHO. I hope you enjoy Schmincke as much as I do. Also, you might check out another store in the UK - Cult Pens. It's mostly a fountain pen store, but I've found amazing prices for colored pencil sets from time to time. ;)
Thanks for the tip! I've had some for years but never used it. The directions said it has to dry forever...so I never had all that time to wait to actually use it. ;D
Thank you! Yes, I fell in love after using them. The labels were torn and a few botteles had chunky pigments, leaving me to question the quality. I believe I received old stock or something. All of the new colors I have purchased have been perfect.
26:45 I still find it interesting that Schmincke keeps selling that metallic set with the three gold paints - they had an alternative version which had violet pearl, ochre pearl, and brown pearl reddish instead of red gold, yellow gold, and light gold and I have never been able to see the alternate version since I bought it set myself. I don't know about other people, but given Schmincke sell a standard gold and silver I'm much happier with the additional colours and the option to add in gold and silver to my palette XD I dread to think what'll happen on the day in the far distant future when I've used them all up
Lucky you! I agree with you 100%. I missed out on that palette, and that is why I purchased this one. Aw, I would love to have that violet pearl. I'm sure it's a beautiful color. I waited to purchase that palette for that very reason, then it sold out. I didn't want to fall in love with a color that would be no longer available. Hopefully Schmincke will make the all of those colors available to purchase individually one day. If not, I'm sure you can mix colors to make it...which is what I will be trying soon. ;)
@@TheGypsyChic1 The violet pearl was lovely - I did a swatching video for them and that is probably one of my favourites. It might be mixable with the magenta and blue - at least, it seems to sit nicely in the middle to my eyes! Given that Schmincke's metallic paints are pigment plus mica I have had the thought of using mica powder and mixing that with tube paints to achieve something similar, but I don't know how complex it would be. You can get clear mica powder or try pigment matching with colours available.
Ha, I can image it is lovely! Yes, I've found all kinds of beautiful mixes but I still want the actual violet pearl. Haha, I have full set syndrome with many supplies. *face palm* You can mix them well with regular watercolors, too! I've thought of mixing mica powders. Arteza sent me theirs, but I really haven't played with them much. I'm not sure if they are toxic to breath in, etc. I have plenty of finetec/coliro paints so I really haven't needed to. I will check out your video when I get a chance! ;)
As an artist myself, predominately charcoal & Graphite I never tried watercolor but man this video was pure ASMR lol Felt like an artistic lullaby! Love the video, thanks for sharing! 🤌🏽
Yes, thank you someone else told me that. Even better, someone said they are awesome to use with pastels!! I still need to try that out. Thanks for sharing, so others will know!

@@TheGypsyChic1 yup, super smart and so fun to save and do a big splurge when you can, ESPECIALLY with those crazy good sales!! Thanks again for sharing!!
Yes, DickBlick carries Schmincke as well. They are just so much more expensive here in the USA. I've been lusting over some products at the St. Louis Art store...they have some beautiful products! They have the beautiful leather Schmincke palette...but it's $119 where as it is $58 at Jackson's. I'm still eyeing a few products though!
Sorry if you know already, but even if you don’t use the packing peanuts you don’t need to throw them out. They’re made of starch so you can compost them or wash them down the drain - they’ll dissolve in water.
Daler Rowney is a well renowned quality art suppliers which have been making their own art supplies for nearly 250 years. I'm from the UK and have used their products for donkeys years. They're definitely not a 'cheapy brand'! It's a shame your bottles were damaged but don't judge the quality of the inks on that. I love them!
Hi Julie! Yes, sorry about that! They were a new to me brand, at the time of this video. Lots of kind viewers said not to give up on them! I was surprised to receive them in that shape, but have used them often and I love them as well. I've ordered many more since this video! You are right, I was too quick to judge and I'm trying not to do that...while staying honest with my first impressions. Thanks for the comment!
Oh, that's awesome. If you are a Harry Potter fan...you may enjoy the Harry Potter fountain pen ink line from Montegrappa, available at Cult Pens. They have notebooks, too. ;)
Lol, way to stay positive! It will be a huge perk to live where Schmincke is so easily available, and I image very affordable! Best of luck to you, and thank you for your service!!
I dont know Sminke???? I might be wrong about yours, but I have some linen boards as apposed to canvas, you might want to check that product out before painting on the backs...I think you paint on the linen side I know I do on mine. Great unveil 😊👍
Thanks for sharing! Yes, I love Schmincke too. It's like choosing a favorite child. Ha, I never thought I would love watercolors more than handbags...but I do as well. It's so nice to find my people! ;D
Thank you! It wasn't Jackson's fault, as they were new in the DW packaging. It was disappointing for sure (but I'm picky!). The inks were really nice and I've ordered more with no glitches! But, yes I kind of wish I would have reached out to Daler Rowney about the labels. I still believe it was just a machine error.
Thank you! I'm sorry...not trying to make anyone jealous. I'm trying to share the joy and the great black friday deals I found. I will have a giveaway coming soon of some budget watercolors! ;)
I'd let Jackson's know the labels are torn and consistency was inconsistent on the Daler Rowney inks because it isn't a cheap brand. They may also have been close to expiration. I'm sure Jackson's would replace them for you if they're still available.
Thank you for the recommendation. I love the inks and I've ordered more from other shops. It seems the sets have that issue? Perhaps a manufacturing error. I also ordered a gold that came with no label at all, lol. Most people may not care, but I need to know the color names as I collect them. Wait, they expire?!? I assumed since they were acrylic they had a long shelf life... ;(
@@TheGypsyChic1 Hi Stephanie-I agree, they are all so beautiful, but I have had inks from other brands turn lumpy when they were exposed to heat. That may have been the case with yours. I hope they replace those for you because lumpy ink isn’t great to work with LOL! I can’t wait to see what you have planned for the pretty inks. My favorite are the Schminke brand and I think that Windsor and Newton have a nice set, but Schminke is really expensive and I can’t really afford to buy them often. So I switched to the Daler and Rowney. I haven’t had an problem with them so far, but ai agree that those labels shouldn’t look like that. Maybe they were damaged or something during manufacturing? You’re right, it does matter. I hope they will send you some replacements. Thanks Stephanie, I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with them and to seeing your other reviews. Thank you! 😊❤️
Thank you, Gaynelle! Ha-YES! I love the Schmincke inks too, especially for the glass pipette/applicator...but they are so pricey so I won't even look until they are on sale again. ;D I love the Daler Rowney inks and have splurged to get lots more. I haven't tried W&N but I think I'm all set for awhile. Lol I'm guessing they were damaged during manufacturing too. It's a bummer, but not worth returning them to me as the inks inside are fine. Thanks so much, I should have some new videos published soon!
@@TheGypsyChic1 I've had the purple DR ink for over a decade and it's still absolutely fine, I wouldn't worry about them expiring unless you are putting dirty pens and brushes directly into the bottle.
@Anna Hayes Thank you sooo much!! I was worried, and I have purchased many more colors. I assumed this was a long lasting product. I can't thank you enough, as I was worried I shouldn't share them in future videos if they wouldn't last, and I love them.
Thanks, Judith! Sadly, I get some hate for sharing so many lovely products... I wish them well, but these make me happy. I hope you can treat yourself soon!
I don’t understand why the schminke botanical only comes with one green. May green seems like an obvious choice. I guess there’s all the room to purchase it yourself separately.
Hi! Perhaps in my excitement I mispoke? The Schmincke Floral palette in this video has two greens, Helio green and Perylene green. I agree, May green would be a make a great addition to the palette. I think this set was set up to give the most colors to mix many beautiful floral colors. 💗
Me too! They have a new version available I enjoy as well. I collect many of the Schmincke limited edition palettes. I love be challenged with new colors I wouldn't pick, it helps me discover new mixes.
Everytime I go and make an order on Jackson's I get all the way through and then when I go and submit I get bumped out and my order deleted. I know a couple other people this happens to as well. So dissapointed. I'm in the US.
I read something about special distribution agreements on their side „sale items from Winsor & Newton, Sennelier and Old Holland are not available for customers in the US, Canada or Australia….“ Maybe that’s the reason?
Yes, I believe @Teatime 1107 may be correct about some items not being available. Sennelier is still available, as far as I can tell. But, Winsor & Newton and other products have that note. I would call them to find out the problem, they are very helpful.
Hearing you clink your brushes against a glass is a clear indication you don’t own the: “Masterson Fresh Water Rinse Well for Cleaning Paint and Craft Brushes”. If I used watercolors I would definitely get one.
Yes, sorry...it's just me wiping off my paint brush to get some water off. I would buy one in a heart beat if they made one in glass, instead of plastic. Thanks for the suggestion! ;)

Thank you! I loved art when I was young too, and it took me many, many years before I could afford any products. You can create beautiful art with student grade products! I hope in years to come you can splurge and find great sales to treat yourself!
Lovely video. I am not sure how knowledgeable you are about acrylic paints and mediums, ANYTHING with the acrylic base is not re-wetable if you do not clean your dip pens right away you will have to throw them out! Acrylic gouache is just a flat acrylic paint. The biggest difference between the finetech watercolor paints is the paint will lift after drying, none of the acryl-paints,inks etc, WILL NOT! Any of the acrylics will be hard on your brushes you need to be quite diligent about cleaning or you will be throwing them out in the trash! You mentioned that you MUST use a fixative for your pastels, that is not true. If you use a good surface that grips the pigment you do not need a fixative, you do need to mat and frame your paintings to keep them from being smeared or altered. I store my un-framed artworks between glassine sheets this keeps the pastels from moving or lifting, smearing. Best of luck with your supplies and future artworks!
Thank you!! Acrylic paints are a whole new adventure for me, so thank you for all of your tips! I did read the would not lift, and that's why I was interested in them. They have been fun in sketchbooks, but I've been afraid to use anything but my cheapest brushes etc. Thank you for all the information, it's very helpful. I have had good luck with vellum between my pastel work, but I should compare it to glassine. Thank you so much, I enjoyed reading all of your tips and advise! ;)
Thanks, Pierre! Yes, I have been loving them in my sketchbooks, and added a few more to my wish list. I've never received an item with the labels damaged, but I believe it was just a machine error. The inks were great. Thanks for the reassurance! ;)
I've watched a bunch of your videos and I usually like learning about new supplies but I have to say this video made me NEED to write a comment because you seem confused and you are going to confuse other people. When you were talking about the Daler Rowney FW shimmers and said they don't feel "as good a quality" as the Schmincke AeroColors and "seem like a generic version" because the dropper didn't have the ball applicator at the end, I cringed. First, Daler Rowney is not a "cheapie" brand, it just isn't popular in America. Like many brands it has multiple grades of product and you need to do your research into which one you're buying. Second, Aerocolors and FW shimmers are different kinds of products and shouldn't be directly compared the way you did. More on that in a minute. Third, the ball at the end of a dropper is NOT supposed to make contact with the surface of what you're applying the liquid to! If you were meant to touch the applicator to the surface, there would be a brush applicator. The reason for the ball is to control flow. No ball = you can squirt a bunch of fluid out at once. Ball = You can get one precise drop at a time. The Schmincke AeroColor acrylics are thinned or light-body acrylic paint meant to be used in airbrushes. In this case you want to put a controlled number of drops in the airbrush cup. The FW shimmers are inks, and you're meant to use something else like a brush or dip pen to get the ink out of the bottle - the fact they have a dropper is just for convenience in case you want to put some in a smaller container such as an inkwell to work out of. In that case, you would want whole dropperful(s) at a time. Two different types of products, two different types of applicators. Your comparison would be like comparing gouache to watercolor and saying the gouache was lower quality because it doesn't glaze well, or comparing chalk and oil pastels and saying the chalk pastels are lower quality because they aren't as creamy. No, they're just different. You also remarked at the "chunky stuff" in the FW shimmers and wondered aloud if that was "pigment or what". Of course it's pigment. Shimmer inks need to be mixed well to keep the shimmer particles (which are larger than colorant particles) in suspension. If left to sit, they settle. You could see the shimmers settled at the bottom of the bottle and barely shook the bottle. The fact that you have fountain pens and use Diamine ink and didn't realize you needed to shake lightly *until the shimmer incorporates* is very odd to me. I'm done ranting now.
Thank you for clarifying about the FW Inks. I had several people let me know my inks were probably just a bit older. I just give my honest first impressions. I also mentioned in the video that acrylic inks were completely new to me...so I don't see how I would confuse anyone. So, no one is taking this video as a demo of how to use them...just the color you get. I did shake all of the inks, because it said to on the label. I shook them very well, I just didn't feel the need to show all the shaking and pounding them against the inside of my palms in the video. I loved the inks enough to purchase more and I shared them in another video, and shared how much I enjoy them. Thank you for letting me know the glass dipper is not meant for paper, I did not know that. I hope you feel much better, now that you have ranted, and you have a better day.

You are so welcome! Lol, I'm very glad to know I'm not the only one! Yay!! I hope you love them as much as I do. :D
Thanks for sharing…. Yep - I now have a few more goodies on my wish list…. I love collecting art supplies!!!
You are welcome, so glad you enjoyed! Hahah - You and me both!! They bring me so much joy, which makes me a kinder person. So, I think I'm making the world a better place, one splurge at a time. ;D
My favorite acrylic ink is definitely FW!! You can get them for a really good price at Jerry's if your fancy them 😃 i love to incorporate them with my watercolors
Thanks, that's great to know! I'm enjoying using them in my sketchbook and now off to try a few more. So, thanks...I think! ;D
@@TheGypsyChic1 their other colors are lightfast. I haven't really used their iridescent line but you're welcome! And thank you for sharing your haul 😊
I love Schmincke, too! I find their art supplies (but especially watercolors) the best of the best.
Yay, nice to meet you! Schmincke is perfection almost every time, to me! Thank you!! I am loving the Daler Rowney inks in my sketchbooks, and have added a few more to my wish list! Yes, I think it was just a machine error...but I have not had that happen with another company that wasn't budget. Lol Thanks for the reassurance! ;)
I cant reallyvaffird anymore artvsupplies right now so I really enjoy art haul videos as I can see all the different art supplies on the market...
I understand, everyone has been there before. I glad you can enjoy the video and I hope you can afford some more art supplies again soon!
Hi my name is sue and I'm a artoholic I don't intend to give up and loving my addiction lol. Have you tried the pearlescent oil pastels? They are so dreamy and gorgeous
Hello, Sue! Nice to meet you! Haha...I have no intentions on quitting either! Oooh, they sound dreamy, which ones?!? I've tried Paul Rubens glitter pastels and Sennelier Iridescence oil pastels. Do I need some more?
@@TheGypsyChic1 the sennelier ones, gorgeous, soft, creamy and beautiful colours
Oh yes, I have those! They are dreamy!! I'm a artoholic, too and have no intention of changing any time soon. ;D
Amazing art supplies ! Thank you for the swatching xoxo
Thank you, Aya! You are so welcome, my sweet friend! xoxo
I love they use so little plastic, even using brown tape
YES, exactly! That is one thing I was hoping to show, without being preachy. I love that there is no disposable plastic, especially. You could reuse everything in the box if you are up for it really. ;)
I really enjoy watching the swatching bits.
Thank you!
Enjoy your inks! ;)
Thanks for the fun! Those peanuts are also fab for charcoal blending
the schmincke sets look gorgeous
You are so welcome! Oh, great idea...thanks for sharing! I haven't tried charcoals much yet, so I appreciate the suggestion. Thank you, I love them so much! ;)
I have the Schmincke set in the leather pouch. I bought it last November. It is really nice combo of colors. I really like the geraniums red, Perylene green and violet, and the ultramarine. All very lovely.
I totally agree! Enjoy your Schmincke palette. ;)
Oh, this didn`t end well for me.. I was waiting for that Durer swatches.. Lovely Schmincke`s palettes, though ))
Lol, well I hope you grabbed some black friday deals! ;D Thank you!! I love the Schmincke palettes. ;)
Please let me know how you like it. ;)
Super late to the game here but I'm def going to start checking out Jackson's since I just started getting into Schmincke
It's mostly a fountain pen store, but I've found amazing prices for colored pencil sets from time to time. ;)
Clear gesso makes a great sanded paper. It works so well
Thanks for the tip! I've had some for years but never used it. The directions said it has to dry forever...so I never had all that time to wait to actually use it. ;D
Daler Rowney top brand, not sure how a little tear in the label would have fooled you, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy them to pieces!
I will check out your video when I get a chance! ;)
As an artist myself, predominately charcoal & Graphite I never tried watercolor but man this video was pure ASMR lol
Felt like an artistic lullaby! Love the video, thanks for sharing! 🤌🏽
Thank you so much. So glad you enjoyed it! 🤗
Daler Rowney products are great. Don’t worry about the labels the inks will be fine!
Thank you!! They have been lots of fun to use in my sketchbooks! I think they just ran through a machine that damaged the labels a bit.
It must’ve happened when they packaged them together. I’ve bought a bunch of those open stock and all the labels are fine.
I’m not sure about those shimmering colors but most of their colors are fabulous, even the metallics and pearlescents.
@@aprilbrown8081 Thank you, that is good to know! I have the gold on my wish list. ;)

The packing peanuts also dissolve in water. No need to put them in the garbage. I put mine in the sink and they disappear after a bit. 😊
Yes, thank you someone else told me that. Even better, someone said they are awesome to use with pastels!! I still need to try that out. Thanks for sharing, so others will know!
Oh man!! So excited for you!! Doing something like this is on my bucket list....never gonna happen based on how long I have to save for one tube of just W&N cotman watercolor. But I LOVE supplies too...opening all those and swatching them would be SO fun!! So happy for you!! What a fun day :)

Wow those liquid mixed with water beautiful results
Thank you! Aren't they lovely!! Gah...I'm hooked on yet another product. ;D
St. Louis Art Supply is going to stock the Schmincke watercolors!
Thank you for sharing. I was putting them in the recycling, but did not know they could be composted.
As a Harry Potter fan, Serious Black has to ve my favourite colour XD.

When my husband came home and told me the military was sending us to live in Germany schmincke was the first thing I thought of, lol.

So much fun!!
Thank you!!
I'd be contacting Jackson's and sending the Daler Rowneys back. They shouldn't be damaged.
No but Jackson’s are selling the Daler Rodney product in good faith. If the product supplied to them is already damaged they should know.
Amazing haul, I am jealous.
Love this
Thank you!

Thanks, Judith! Sadly, I get some hate for sharing so many lovely products... I wish them well, but these make me happy. I hope you can treat yourself soon!
@@TheGypsyChic1 I will treat myself. But within my budget. Haters need to be ignored.
Dhaler Rodney are good quality ink
Thanks, Shann! You are right, they are lovely and I've purchased quite a few new ones...as I love them! ;)
@@TheGypsyChic1 I absolutely love the pallet though. All the mixing places. My favorite.
Me too! They have a new version available I enjoy as well. I collect many of the Schmincke limited edition palettes. I love be challenged with new colors I wouldn't pick, it helps me discover new mixes.
Be careful using dip pen with the glitter inks they will clog them up
Thank you! I think you are right. I must of mispoke, and I meant a Glass Dip pen. ;)
Everytime I go and make an order on Jackson's I get all the way through and then when I go and submit I get bumped out and my order deleted. I know a couple other people this happens to as well. So dissapointed. I'm in the US.
That sounds strange, and frustrating... I haven't had that issue, but if I did I would call or email them for sure!
I read something about special distribution agreements on their side „sale items from Winsor & Newton, Sennelier and Old Holland are not available for customers in the US, Canada or Australia….“ Maybe that’s the reason?
@@Teatime-mq6bv Thank you. That may be it.
Thanks for the suggestion! ;)

I am giving you hate, I love buying art supplies too😊😊😎👍🏾
Thanks for watching...only trying to share joy. Art supplies are so fun ;)
Thank you so much, I enjoyed reading all of your tips and advise! ;)
🥰
Thanks again for the tip! ;)
FW inks are very high quality and made in England!
Thanks, Pierre! Yes, I have been loving them in my sketchbooks, and added a few more to my wish list. I've never received an item with the labels damaged, but I believe it was just a machine error. The inks were great. Thanks for the reassurance! ;)
You didn't hold back.
Nope...I wait all year for this sale! ;D
You are pronouncing pastel wrong
Sorry, I often pronounce things wrong. I'm excited and not perfect, but I do my best.
