Very Impressive display carried out by the Finnish Air Force Hornet Solo Display Team, the best F/A-18 Hornet demo I have ever seen (and I have seen a few), the aircraft seems to have thrust vectoring engines, perfoming flat spins, pedal turns, high AOA aileron rolls etc... The footage used in this video was recorded during the two rehearsals carried out the days before the Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 (RIAT 2019)

After having seen tons of super maneuverable jets do tight turns, fast, vertical climbs, I didn't think the Hornet was ever going to surpise enthusiasts, let allone a 'legacy' C-model. But honestly, this took my breath away. Without a doubt the best Hornet demo ever and holy crap, it made even more modern fighters look shy. I've heard experienced F-16 and F-15 jocks tell what great nose authority the classic Hornet had, but I'd never seen it demonstrated this convincingly.
Hats off to the Finnish Hornet-driver and the demo team that pulled this rabit out of the hat! I stand in awe.

Demonstration flights on Ukrainian aircraft Su-27 and MiG-29 is dangerous both for spectators and for pilots who do not have full-fledged flight practice, due to the extreme poverty of Ukraine.
The airplanes of the Ukrainian Air Force are all over 30 years old and do not have repair parts and airworthiness is maintained by the conebalism of even older planes ... or fake parts.

Absolutely, best Hornet demo ever. The departure was mind- boggling, should ' ve fallen out of the sky outta the daring climb and it didn't. Plenty of instances along the display when it flew way beyond the ragged end of the lift curve and back and it didn't stall. Rubbed my eyes in disbelief several times, tumbling end over end asymmetrically repeatedly, cutting corners in the horizontal turns and he did it over and over again in both the vertical and horizontal planes without any fatal consequences at all.
Somebody has wasted millions and millions in fighter technology to just become a runner up to this already outdated? machine and its unbelievably extraordinary pilot.

Perhaps old-fashioned air dogfights are a thing of the past. Who really knows? All new technology is doing everything to make even an average fighter pilot very dangerous; with his fancy missiles etc. Whatever the case, it still remains a fact that all true fighter pilots want to shoot down his enemy with his guns. They can't help themselves. That is why they become fighter pilots. One hundred years later and it is still the fantasy of closing in on and sending a burst of cannon that motivates the young recruit pilots. Those who pretend otherwise are probably liars.
For the record, I read years ago about a squadron from Chile visiting America. The flew inferior jet fighters to the Americans. I think they were actually multi-purpose trainers.I can't quite remember now. Anyhow, the Americans challenged them to simulated air combat and got beaten time after time like they would never forget. The Chileans, knowing they had old planes, trained to compensate for their outdated equipment. The Americans were very, very impressed.

Except they never fly like this in domestic airshows. I think they have some summer interns flying at domestic shows. Short 4 minute show, flown crappily and boringly and then it's time to land already. The domestic F-18 displays are the most boring one's here. I always wish they'd bring over the Eurofighter or Dutch F-16's to get some show going, but rarely they do.

Technically, made in Finland. Finnish Hornets were at least assembled in Finland (don't know if they had some sort of pre-fab elements that were imported). After the F18s were finnished they were flown to USA and there was some sort of verification process that they were F18s. Then they were handed over to Finnish Airforce, flown back to Finland and promtly dissambled so they could be modified for airforces liking. Don't you just love byrocracy?

I respect your opinion, but F-18 is not a game changer in a war situation. According to technical specifications, F-18 might be the plane, US will be least proud of. Su-27 and its derivatives are indeed a game changer in a war. A single Su-30 can prove to be a disaster for a group of 3-4 F-18s. There are reasons why Sukhois are feared and the reasons are not mythical.

Or perhaps it’s more to do so with the pilot skills in place here, like iv’e never seen before with that airplane? Wauvv, i most say 😮👍 Cheers from Denmark
