The Lost Years of Jesus Revealed at Last!

  • There are all sorts of legends about Jesus between the years of 12 and 30 traveling to Egypt, India, and even the British Isles. However, a knowledge of the history and the geography of his hometown of Nazareth, and recent archaeological excavations at Sepphoris, just 4 miles to the north, which was the urban capital of Herod Antipas, which was being rebuilt as Jesus was growing up , has opened a new possibility. In this narration I explore this questions and what it might have meant to refer to Jesus as a "carpenter,,"--which turns out to be a mistranslation of the Greek word in Mark 6:3 where we find that description.

The Gospel of Luke (Chapter 2) does have a report of the 12-year old Jesus having been found teaching in the Temple, His parents having left Jerusalem after the feast of Passover, not realizing that He was not with them.

The bible is ridiculous. it reads like the ravings of a madman.full of ridiculous claims and contradictions and falsehood.one thing that it does make clear is that there was a lack of institutions for epileptics and schizophrenics in Palestine at that time.there have been many thousands of gods proposed by humans over time in hundreds of different languages and in hundreds of different countries.there is not and never has been the slightest evidence that any of them are real.why on earth would you or anyone accept as fact the anonymous stories told by fearful uneducated superstitious misogynistic bronze age desert tribesmen in the most backward part of the middle east?Men who thought that the earth was flat and that diseases came from curses. They thought that someone threw lightning bolts from the heavens.Men who forced their wives to sleep outside in a shed with the goats during their menstrual cycle .it is high time we humans grow up and out of this bronze age nonsense.

I don't believe the question should be when did He see his life as King of Israel as a threat to Rome but rather as a spiritual teacher who attempted to enlighten the population with acknowledging the power within themselves as part of God. This became a threat to the Jewish leadership and they used the Romans with the pretense that Jesus was a threat to them also. When Pilate could not find a reason to kill Jesus, he bowed to political pressure and had Him killed anyway.

Well said. As a spiritual teacher, who taught the need for spiritual practice with a related Lord´s Prayer, and profound body of teachings, not Egyptian magic, but Buddhist wisdom and related miraculous powers are most coherent.
The Essenes perhaps had some relevance, I recall from some issues. Was Jesus merely limited to a socioeconomic analysis of his parents? The textual reductionism that they "had no resources" sounds unlikely. Mary´s contact with her cousin Elizabeth, mother (miraculously) of John the B, son of Zechariah a priest. Tabor´s a bit too materialistic.

At that time you could have found most religions and sects there, some with temples and the more important library, the university of its day. Everyone from Hindus to Essenes teaching and preaching at levels far beyond what peasants would hear in a small village. Same goes for John the Baptizer, James and others we know existed.

, in place of the Messianic Judaism that Yeshua expected all of his future worldwide followers to practice, the Romans created Christianity, a pagan religion. The papal Empire was, and is still alive in the Roman Catholic Church which is ruled by the office of the popes, the old religion of Babel.’
“Who opposeth and exalts himself above all that is called Elohim, or that is worshipped so that he as Elohim sitteth in the temple of Elohim, showing himself that he is Elohim…” This prediction, which is also for the leader of the Renegades who shall be on Earth, makes allusion to the Church that was created by the Romans, and is illustrated till this day by the Popes.’
‘At that time there was only one power that ever set itself up as Elohim on Earth after the days of Yeshua’s Apostles, and that power was the Popes of the Roman Catholic Church, beginning with Constantine. He took on himself the title of Pope and changed the real Roman Empire. Then he enforced Christianity upon the Roman people, making it as we have already said the Roman State Religion.’
‘And Constantine forced on the Romans all the days of Sun-worship: Sunday, Easter, Christmas… etc. Then he forced everything that was Jewish or had anything to do with Judaism out of the teachings of Yeshua’s Apostles. This law came from Constantine in 235 A.D. which stipulated: “Magistrates, city people and artisans are to rest on the Sun Day”. This was the first ever Sunday law.’
‘A fanatical supporter of Constantine, Eusebius who had been nominated ‘Bishop of Caesarea’ wrote: ‘All things whatsoever that it was the duty to do on the Sabbath (the 7th day), these we have transferred to the Lord’s Day, Sunday.’
‘At the Council of Laodicea in 364 A.D. Canon 29 was made by the Church of Rome, which stated: “Christians shall not judaize and be idle on Saturday (the Jewish Sabbath), but shall work on that day.” So from then on, everything that was Jewish or connected in worship with Judaism, (Yeshua’s Religion), was abolished.’
‘The Roman Catholic Church was very anti-Semitic, right from Constantine himself; because, for his plans to succeed, he wanted to do away with Yeshua’s religion. This he openly said, when he proclaimed that the Christians ‘shall not judaize’.
So when Constantine became Christian Pope, he began to persecute the Jews. Christians were forbidden to associate with them. He banished the Rabbis in 337 A.D. and made it a crime for a Jew to marry a Christian woman. At the Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D. the question of Easter was discussed, and Passover was simply changed to Easter. Constantine said:’
“And first of all, it appeared an unworthy thing, that in the celebration of this holy feast “we should follow the practices of the Jews”, who have impiously defiled their hands with enormous sin, and are therefore deservedly afflicted with blindness of soul… Let us have nothing in common with the detestable Jewish crow, for we have received from our savior a different way… Beloved brethren, let us with one consent adopt this course, -and withdraw ourselves from all participation in their baseness-… It was needful that this matter should be rectified, so that we might have nothing in common with that nation of parricides, who slew their savior… That all should unite in desiring that which sound reason appears to demand, and in avoiding all participation “in the perjured conduct of the Jews”. In fine that I may express in a few words as possible it has been determined by the common judgments of all that the most holy feast of Easter should be kept on one and the same day.”
‘Yeshua the Jewish Rabbi was not born of a virgin birth, unlike Jesus the Christian Christ. But do the Christians know that Crucifixion was not an event unique to ‘Jesus’? Many others died exactly the same way in other mythologies:
‘Mithras was crucified in Persia, Tammuz in Babylon, Thules and Orontes in Egypt, Odin in Scandinavia, and Hesus in Britain’s druidic tradition. All these crucifixions happened thousands and hundreds of years before Christianity surfaced.’
‘There were also many ‘Virgin Births’ and many’ Immaculate Conceptions’ in other pagan religions. Does humanity know that the ‘Christian Mary’ was not the only ‘virgin’ that had an ‘immaculate conception’?
‘In Mexico, Quetzalcoatl the Sun god’s mother, ‘conceived him as a virgin; the ‘strictly celibate widow’ Semiramis conceived Tammuz after Nimrod’s death ‘without’ a male partner; Hercules, the Only-Begotten Son of Zeus, (father of Greek gods) was born in a ‘virgin birth’ to Alcmene; In Egypt the goddess Isis ‘conceived Horus as a virgin’.
‘Ancient Egyptian inscriptions can still be found which say: “Immaculate is our Lady Isis”. The same title, as the whole world knows, is now being given ‘Mary, the mother of the Roman Catholic and Christians’ Jesus.’
‘Did you know that ‘Mary’ who is now being worshipped as a goddess, is a variety of the same entity in ancient mothers and goddess stories and traditions. For example, Maia was the mother of Buddha. Moya was the mother of Agni. Myrrha was the mother of Bacchus. Mariana was the mother of Krishna. Myrrha was the mother of Adonis … etc.’
‘Hercules had abolished sacrifice in his time, and was called ‘the good Shepherd and the Prince of Peace’. He descended in the realms of Pluto then later ascended to his father Zeus… So normally, Christianity abolished Temple sacrifice in the name of their ‘Jesus’ who, it was also decided by the Romans, will be known in the future to have ascended to his father ‘God’, naturally.
‘In ancient Persia, Sun worship was much spread, and all worship took place on Sundays. We also have Zarathustra. He was born on the 25th of December, in a manger in a cave, and was ‘world savior’, from the Sun, many centuries before the Christian Christ.’
‘So, after Christianity took over the religion of the Messianic believers (as Yeshua’s followers were also known) - which was a Jewish Religion, and which combined the belief in, and the practice of Yeshua’s teachings as the bringer of the Messiah Spirit through the Mysteries, with the old Pharisaic Orthodox ones, - Constantine declared that he intended to wipe out everything Jewish, and everything Yeshua himself stood for.’
‘That way, Christianity would have nothing in common with the nation of the Jews; or in other words ‘with the true religion of YHWH, which was also the true religion of Yeshua himself. And they used the Name of Yeshua, a Jewish prophet Messiah, to reach their aims, saying at the same time: “Let us have nothing with the detestable Jewish crowd”.
‘So Easter was fixed on the Sunday following the Jewish Passover contrary to Yeshua’s instructions. They changed the Sabbath to Sunday, and Passover to Easter, a festival that was kept by the pagans in the spring in honor of Baal, and not only that, polytheism was definitely declared. The Popes became known as the Holy See, god on Earth, and they are still known as, and called ‘Holiness’ or ‘Holy Father’ even now”.
‘But that was nothing new. They simply kept and perpetuated the tradition of all Roman Emperors who were declared gods and divine beings. The Pope of today is still set as a deity on Earth, and considers himself that! During that Council of Nicaea where Constantine made the speech that was partly repeated here, it was also decided that their ‘Jesus’ could not remain just a man; he had to be made a god.’
‘Surely the status of Yeshua as a simple Jewish Rabbi and Prophet could not fit, if his story had to be integrated into the old polytheist doctrine of Trinity. So this had to be changed. The bishops who sat in the panel at the Council voted for the Hellenized Jesus as the third person of their ‘Holy Trinity of God’ in the newly renamed old Babylonian religion, by the raising of hands. So they voted. Thus the Jewish Rabbi and Prophet Yeshua-Bar-Joseph became ‘Jesus’. He was elected to become a god to be worshipped, by the raising of hands, at a meeting staged by a group of Sun worshippers.’
‘After this meeting, Constantine issued the strict edict that said: “Anyone, Christian or not who continued to believe or claim that ‘Jesus’ was a simple man, or who accepted or followed doctrines that did not conform to the new Council of Nicaea decisions, was to be considered a heretic and to be exiled from the Empire or put to death. Those who were true followers of Yeshua’s original doctrine were persecuted, stoned, arrested, and killed; and all their manuscripts were seized and destroyed.”
‘Now we used the writings and events that took place on Earth to present today’s message because it was necessary. However, criticizing any existing religious denomination was not our aim here. We want Yeshua’s religion to be revived and practiced as he intended it to be.

Looks like we already know now. This is a presupposition fallacy you're using.. based upon fictional writings.
These are fictional writings ... The evidence is not in the claims of and within the writings themselves... Well not alone.. but the evidence of their being fiction is the writers themselves and when they existed or lived yet made claims that are impossible and demonstrably not factual or true.
The gospel writers pen their writings as if in first person and physically and personally knowing and associating to the Jesus character narrative person. This is false..it is fictional as it is beyond well demonstrated they did not and could not have. They fictionalized the role they played and narrative of a personal relationship and hands on knowledge and awareness and knowing this jesus character.
Furthermore, it is upon these fictitious writings that the rest of the new testament is based upon.
Writings based upon fiction to carry on the same narrative and storyline is hence fictional.
Amazing what a little logic can get you.
There may indeed have been some person at some point with the name of yeshua.. but that does not equate to the biblical narrative character of such existing. In other words say there is some outside source that someday is discovered that shows some person with that common name existed in that time and area. The name and a person existing does not mean they were the biblical narrative character as described and prescribed as in the scriptural texts.
I use the example of an analogy Sanman from the Spiderman comic series. The Sandman also known as Flint Marko's real name is William Baker.
Some time ago at my job a guy came in by the name of William Baker. He, like the comic book character was also from Queens New York. What a coincidence.. Spiderman takes place in New York, and includes much of New York in its writings. Actual places and streets and even some news and events and history. None of this makes Spiderman true or real or exist.. just as because this guy who has that same name and is from Queens New York does not make the Sandman true or real.
Belief and faith belief of something is not evidence.. the bible is just a source of claims.... mostly fictitious claims.. because the bible is the source of these claims it cannot also be the source of evidence. The writers of these claims are not the source of the evidence either..that is not how evidence works

I have heard that many rabbis of the first and second centuries would have typically had a paid job in addition to teaching because they were not allowed to charge a fee for teaching and one of the most common side professions was tekton. For example, Hillel the Elder was a tekton (and sometimes a woodcutter) as his side profession because that profession made it possible to have time left for teaching.

Why must the brothers and sisters of Jesus referenced in Mark 6:3 and Matthew 12:46 necessarily be younger? There is no evidence regarding Joseph’s age at Jesus’s birth (speculations range from 16-90!). Nothing is heard of Joseph after Jesus at the Temple age 12, nor is Joseph present at the crucifixion, perhaps implying he died.

The agricultural in the area was changing, what use to be fields of mustard plants was becoming fields of grain. The mustard plant gave us cabbage and cauliflower! The grain was hard to grow, destroyed the environment, and did not have a fraction of the nutrition. It made a population who had never been exposed to it before very sick and it was becoming the cheapest, if not only way to keep from starving. I can only imagine how easy it was to cure many, many people by simply removing the grain from their diet.

Huh? what was that about Mathew? I'm sure it was unintended but you kind of called him a liar and yet we're supposed to easily believe these other stories of his life? Hmm.
Commentary, Clinton Arnold, Ed., Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2002, p. 19).
"The killing of a few children in an obscure Judean community would scarcely have attracted much attention in the notably bloody world of that day. This vile deed attributed to Herod is perfectly consistent with what is known about the character of the beast. He was so paranoid of his regal authority that he did not hesitate to murder numerous members of his own immediate and extended family. His favorite wife, Mariamne, was publicly executed, as was her mother, Alexandra.Earlier Herod had put to death Hyrcanus, Mariamne’s grandfather (who, incidentally, once had saved the king’s life). He also executed several of his sons, e.g., Alexander, Aristobulus, and Antipater. One ancient writer suggested that Augustus Caesar once quipped that it would be better to be Herod’s pig than his son! (Macrobius, Saturnalia 2.f.11).For a general survey of Herod’s activities, see Josephus, Antiquities, Books 14-17.
If that ruler committed such atrocities as those just sketched, is there any doubt that he would be capable of the bloody spectacle depicted in Matthew’s Gospel?
During the severe illness that previewed his imminent death, the Herodian monster had some of the chief men of the Jewish nation imprisoned at Jericho. He then issued a dispatch to some of his close kinsmen that, upon his death, these Jews should be put to death. The reason he ascribed to the plan was his knowledge of the fact that when he died, he would not be mourned as befitted a king.Especially was he aware that the Jews would rejoice at his passing.Accordingly, after he had breathed his final breath, these Hebrews were to be killed, that weeping might be heard throughout the land, suitable for a funeral such as his! (Antiquities 17.6.2).(Fortunately, his vile command was ignored.) It is clear, therefore, that no reasonable objection can be made to the record of Herod’s brutal conduct, as portrayed in Matthew’s Gospel account."

My view is that he most likely traveled to India and Tibet. By travelling the same route as the merchants did on the silk road. First as a teenager to India and later after the crucifixion. Josef of Arimatea was the man who saved Jesus life and could provide the necessary protection until he was strong enough to travel. The grave of Jesus is said to be in Tibet. The few hours on the cross the day before sabbath saved his life, and Jesus with a face well known to the Romans after the arrest and torture he had to flee the country. The pacifism and the mudra handsigns on the oldest icons of Jesus tells us he was influenced by Buddhism from the east. Some say that buddhism did not exist when Jesus was alive, but in Egypt (possible place for Jesus to visit) there was buddhism 525-405 BC. The silk road goes directly trough Tibet. The book The lost years of Jesus written by Nicholas Notovitch (who was a jew but became a christian) i will recommend.

Most of the practices now found in Christianity, were never performed or promulgated by Yeshua or his followers. He was a Jew, a Synagogue and Temple-frequenting, Kepa-and-Tallith-wearing Hebrew who practiced a very tolerant form of Judaism. He never created a Church neither did he himself, ever set a foot in one. As a matter of fact, Churches never existed till more than three hundred years after Yeshua died.’
‘Anyone truly willing to follow and emulate him, should first wait for all the demystifying revelations that we shall verbally give to this, our little messenger; then read the account that was left by her ancestor, as she will give it later on, before they can continue.’
‘Because as he said himself, everything he did, all people can do; and it is only through the Mysteries - that he and his ancestors before him had mastered-, that it can that be achieved. It cannot be achieved in any other way. That is done only after Divine Realization has been achieved. Not by kneeling before crosses and hand-made idols; but by living as he lived, worshipping God as he worshipped and practicing what he himself practiced and preached; and most of all by Realizing one’s Divinity.’
    CHRISTIANITY
‘After the Temple had been destroyed in Jerusalem by the Romans after all the Jews had been scattered abroad, being sold into slavery, and after most of Yeshua’s true followers had been decimated, the Religion that took over the world was the Roman Catholic Church. For Rome controlled most of the then civilized world as Earth’s ruling empire. All Jews had been forcefully sent abroad, and none were allowed to set foot in Palestine again.’
‘About 230 years after Yohanan (or John), one of Yeshua’s apostles wrote his book of Revelations, the Roman Empire was virtually separated in two; one part in Europe, the other in the Middle-East. Then their authority was constantly undermined by ferocious attacks by the many factions of revolutionaries that existed throughout the occupied territories at that time.’
‘Finally, the Roman Empire was reduced to being called the Byzantine Empire, after the city of Byzantium, which King Constantine made the Empire’s capital, and later named Constantinople, after himself.’
‘He then split this in two, by starting his own Religion based on the Jewish faith, after having seized and confiscated most of the manuscripts kept in Jerusalem and other Synagogues throughout Israel. He had also seized those written by Yeshua’s apostles, and the ones the apostles had received from their own parents; with writings from the early prophets, as it had been customary. Which custom we encourage Man of today to also take up, to discourage such falsifications as were done by the Romans, in future.’
‘As the Roman Empire declined, the Holy Papal Empire, hiding behind the name of ‘The Holy Roman Catholic Church’, rose out of its ruins. And that decline had begun from about year 185, ending with year 476 of the Christian Era; the Empire by then had had a population of 120 millions. Thanks to this Papal Empire, Rome continued to rule the world for a further one thousand years.’
‘Constantine, an Ishtar, Apollo and Satan worshipper, had decided to create a Roman State Religion, he had also been determined not to abandon his pagan practices. His Church kept the original pagan worship of Ishtar that took place near the time when Yeshua was crucified; and the new worshippers were lied to, that it was to commemorate ‘Jesus’ death. The name of Ishtar was therefore, modified and replaced by the innocent sounding Easter, 400 years after Constantine’s death.’

The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ!!!
Early in my quest of faith I was intrigued by the "Lost Years". Almost obsessed. After all, where was our Savior between the ages of 12 and 30? The Gospels don't mention anything about it. So I stumbled across a book of a Buddhist monk in Tibet and his teacher mentioned Jesus had visited the Temple in Lhasa and there was a written record of his time there. Then there was the Nicolas Notovitch book which mentioned the same. But neither source could produce any proof. Let's call them romantic legends because they offered answers to the mystery but also offered more questions than answers.
Then I read the Aquarian Gospel, another interesting legend supposedly drawn from the Akashic records not only spoke of Jesus's time in Tibet, but also India and Egypt. An amazing tale of Jesus's journeys and how he influenced and learned from other world religions preparing Him for his ministry back in Israel. It's an excellent read providing it not be taken as fact, only a possibility of what might have taken place.

Then in the mid 90s I found the Aquarian Gospel which opened up a whole new Jesus to me. One I could not only relate to, but one I would very much like to hang out with. The AG is still one of my favorite books to just pick up and open at random feel the energy of the Jesus depicted there.

I choose to believe that the Creator exists and is primarily a rational being dedicated to logic and motivated by an unbiased objective love of others and secondarily a biased subjective love of others. When it comes to God's law, he/she is unbiased and objective. This is the foundation of God's way of justice, mercy and faith. The Creator gave 10 oral, then written, words/subjects to Israel in the Moses mediated covenant that could become the foundation of a successful righteous society and a light of God's way to the world. Israel was predicted by God to fail in this age but succeed in the next. So, bottom line, the 9th commandment made the top 10 because God knew that humans are primarily subjective emotion driven beings with a white washed facade of rationality/logic and would, as a result, adulterate His commandments with the commandments of men (which started with Moses), thus making, as the Christ claimed, the commandments of God of “no effect”. The scriptures are witness to this phenomena. Where the 9th commandment has not been broken, God's truth and way can still be discovered in both the physical creation and the scriptures. Therefore it would not shake my faith to know that some of the judgments and stories in the scriptures were man inspired not God inspired. Paul said some are zealous but not according to knowledge so we must rightly discern/divide/cut the scriptures to separate man's stories from God's truth. It can be done.

Watching the Scottiish archaeologist Neil Oliver there seems to be reason to believe Jesus, as a boy/young man, may have sailed to the tin mines of Cornwall with his uncle, Joseph of Arimethea who it seems was a tin merchant. The hymn, ''And did those Feet in Ancient Times, walk upon England's mountains green,'' could be reagarding that time. Certainly would help to explain some of those missing years.

Hi Dr. Tabor. I've not found your e-mail. So i'll ask my question here. I'd like to ask you for book recommendations on cognitive dissonance as it relates to the prophetic and apocalyptic traditions of the hebrew bible. I'm aware of Robert P. Carroll's "When Prophecy failed", John J. Collins' work that touches on it and recently i bought "Peoples of an Almighty God" by Jonathan Goldstein. I also intend to soon read "Predicting the past in the Ancient Near East" by Matthew Neujahr (which, it's true, is more related to ex eventu prophecies in general).
    What else would you recommend?

Sepphoris was at a crossroads. Gondophares of the Indo-Parthian kingdom ascended to the throne with Taxila as capital around 19-20AD, ten years or so before Jesus’s ministry when he would have been out of his teens - the road is straight as an arrow and by walk, the 4315 kms from Nazarth/Sepphoris would have taken 878 hours or around 4 months, less than half that on a beast. Confirmation bias has always been the bane of UChicago academics.

I think if he had 2 male siblings there would eventually be 4 working men in the household. That would bring in good money .If Jesus worked as a stone cutter, he might have produced stone plates and cups that were always in demand and also made a good living for the family if they lived under one roof.
The family must have had some important connections and status with Joseph of Aramathea and Zechariah father of John the Baptist in the family. The family was invited to the wedding in Cana. And Jesus made lots of friends as an adult. They must have been known and accepted in the region.

Where was Jesus from the time He was 12 until His baptism by John?
Luke 2: 46-52 46 "And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man."
Jesus was in Nazareth in subjection to the wishes of Mary and Joseph until John 1:29 "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
No Marsha, He wasn't in India dialoging with the swamis. No He wasn't in America converting the Aztecs. He was in Nazareth with Mary and Joseph.

there is no evidence whatsoever that Jesus actually existed.the earliest writings we have about Jesus were written some 60 years after his supposed death.we have not one word from anyone who claimed to have even seen him let alone heard anything that he said. What we have are stories handed down by word of mouth by fearful uneducated superstitious misogynistic bronze age desert tribesmen for many decades.we have no idea who wrote the gospels as they were given authorship names Mathew Mark Luke and John centuries later.there have been many thousands of gods proposed by humans over time in hundreds of different languages and in hundreds of different countries.there is not and never has been the slightest evidence that any of them are real. But suppose the stories are true.Jesus did not know anything that was not known at that time.He did not know the true age of the earth.he did not know that the Americas and South pacific countries existed. He did not know that there were several other humanoid species that were our relatives but became extinct some 40,000 years. he did not even know enough about medicine to give us a talk on germ theory that would have prevented millions of people dying from preventable diseases. He didn't tell the misogynistic goat herders to stop forcing their wives to sleep outside in a shed with the goats during their menstrual cycle. He knew very little about teaching.Every trained teacher today knows that to just talk to people without 1.Making sure you can be heard.2.Checking that the people listening have a working definition of every word spoken in the lecture 3.Checking that the student can demonstrate that they have grasped the idea and can understand the concept of the lesson is not teaching in any real sense. And the answer to any questions should make the matter clearer, not more vague as we are told Jesus did.We know very little if anything about the other 300 + self proclaimed messiahs who were crucified by the Romans in that era..We can only hope that some of them did not include a human blood sacrifice and threats of extreme violence in their preachings.

What Happened During Jesus' 'Lost Years' (Luke 2:42; 3:23)?
At the time Herod ordered all the young boys in Bethlehem to be slain, Joseph took Mary and Jesus and fled into Egypt. When the danger was past, they returned to their own country and settled in a town in Galilee: "And he [Joseph and his family] came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, 'He shall be called a Nazarene' [one who comes from Nazareth]" (Matthew 2:23).
From Nazareth, they would all travel to Jerusalem each year for the Passover. On one of those occasions, when He was 12, Jesus stayed behind in the Temple. Afterward, "He went down with them [His family] and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them" (Luke 2:51). So, Jesus evidently spent most of those years in Nazareth. Otherwise, people would not have known Him as a Nazarene.
After He was 30, Jesus preached in the synagogue in His home town: "So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up" (Luke 4:16). Notice the reaction of the townspeople: "So all . . . marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, 'Is this not Joseph's son?" (verse 22). The people knew Him! This is confirmed when, on a similar occasion, in astonishment they said, "Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And his brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us?'" (Matthew 13:54-56). The people knew His whole family, as this was Jesus' "own country" (verse 54; Luke 4:24).
Obviously, Jesus spent most of those 18 years between ages 12 and 30 in Nazareth where He was trained and where He studied. Whether or not He traveled to any foreign nation is not revealed in Scripture.
