    Hi Aimee, just wanted to thank you for these videos, my hubby and I are just beginning our adoption journey after a long struggle with infertility, you are so informative and positive, if I could ask for a video it would probably be from dads point of view, keep up the good work xx

    Hi Amy, love your videos, they have helped us so much. Our transition week starts next week, just wondered if you had any tips on what to record on our Teddy that we will be giving our little one? Any suggestions appreciated, thanks, Alison x

      Philip Rowlinson it’s ‘lamaze’. If you click in to the description box under the video...little drop down arrow, I’ve linked the exact one. You can click that and it will take you to it on amazon 👍🏼

    Where can I get a transition butterfly? Can't find anywhere...

      We got ours from amazon but it was 6 years ago now so unsure. The brand is Lamaze if that still helps. I know that school and early years resource companies sell similar things for children who struggle with transitions and communication so perhaps search for communication aids for children and this may help you find similar things 🙏

    Loving your videos, thanks for sharing your experience. Could I please ask how old your little one was when he joined your family and if the child’s age and gender is something you could “choose” during the process? I never hear people talking about age/gender “preference” so maybe it’s not something they feel comfortable talking about or admiting that they do have a gender preference but I’d love to hear how that worked out for you and your husband. Thank you very much xx

      Fe Massafera thanks for such a lovely comment! We don’t mention too much detail when it comes to ages for identification purposes. But you’re right, it isn’t mentioned much. You can 100% be as specific as you feel is suited to your family and situation. You can specify ages, genders and races and I’m sure some agencies have more options as well. This can be seen as negative but as I talk about in other videos, it’s got to be right for your capabilities. It may just mean that the matching process takes longer the more specific you are.

      Aimee vlog Thank you so much for replying back. I have been to information evenings before but felt a bit embarrassed to ask that sort of question fearing I would be judged but thanks for clarifying it and you are right, whatever works best for the child and the family, it’s like 2 pieces of a jigsaw that need to fit together in order to make it work. I’m sure I’ll come up with more questions as I watch your other videos, thank you again 😊

    so much good info, wish i was able to chat to you about it all and pick you brain, me and my wife just got a yes for a specific child from the family finder and SW, so we are full of different emotions and we are trying to seek as much advice as possible.

    This was a great video, thank you. Transition period sounds very intense and I just wonder how it would work when you have a child of your own (we have toddler) as I imagine he/she would have to be very much involved in the process. Do you know anything about that?

    • @Aimeevlog
      @Aimeevlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Asta, from talking to friends who have adopted in the same situation...yes your child at home also gets to be a part of this process. However, for at least the first few sessions it will need to be just yourself & your partner if 2 of you are adopting

    We start transitions in a week during this pandemic. We hope to get the planned timetable tomorrow. Foster carer doesn't drive and the social workers don't want her getting taxis. Any tips or suggestions we can make so we can spend time with lo at our home as well.
