Hi Aimee do you think you can do a video around the individual stages eg what’s to expect? We’re hoping our agency will accept our ROI paperwork so it would be useful to know what the expect.
So lovely to stumble across your vlog. My husband and I have just started our assessment process today and we were encouraged to find adoption stories etc online. There are not many and what I found to begin with were American, they do it so differently to us so I was really pleased to come across yours. I shall be tuning in. Thank you.
Thanks Helen, thats so lovely of you to say! My thoughts exactly! And while there are many US adopters in the online community who inspire and motivate me, it would be great to see more relevant UK info! Good luck on your journey, can't wait to hear more!
Thanks Aimee. Yes well I was in tears yesterday watching the amazing adoption stories state side..... very encouraging. Congratulations on your little one and I hope you can use your vlog as a support too. Yeah first meeting went well- we felt so drained but positive.
Hi I’m currently at the assessment stage in my adoption journey and I’m really struggling with what’s too much to write and what’s too little! Please help thanks!
Hi Lauren, Wishing you all the best as you move through the journey. It's so tricky because it has to be personal to you. If you need to waffle away then go for it!
@@Aimeevlog no we’ve been given a large workbook to fill in and was just wondering if there were videos on it. We’ve also got EP training and and stage one prep training in stage one (I’ve seen your video for prep training so thank you) coming up over the next couple months as well as needing to get our medicals. We’ve submitted our checks documents and they’ve contacted our references and jobs. Unfortunately our training is through eventbrite so online and won’t get to physically meet other adopters which I was hoping for.
Is there a way I can talk to you about adoption ? My husband and I are going to our first ‘adoption evening’ after initial enquiry , which is in a couple of weeks . We are nervous but so excited . We’ve googled so much about what to expect but still very overwhelmed!
please there any family that wants to adopt a child , i mean an adult like me kindly let me know. am an orphan. need a family. am 24 years old. i have a bachelor degree
Hi I wud love to adopt I have 2 boys allready wud really like to add to the family through adopting haven’t looking into it yet do u have a preference on the age of a child wishing to adopt and sex
SInead C thanks for your question. Yes, I took ‘traditional’ maternity/adoption leave of 10 months. As long as possible is recommended...preferably 12 months. Hope this helps
SInead C there were no set rules, however when preparing for panel it was made clear that your plans for leave are considered and we were asked specifically about them during our approval and matching panels. 12 months was the minimum recommended by our agency but I am sure there have been circumstances with different timings. Hope that answers your question.
On stage 2 and feeling deflated, the personal questions are too much for me to cope with, you never know if you said too much or enough. It s making me feel bad about myself and seriously considering withdrawing before any more disappointments.

How long was it after submitting your stage one workbook that you heard back from the agency?

Do you have a video on completing the stage one workbook?
I don’t, I’m sorry. Was that as part of the online learning?

How long did it take to adopt from applying to having your kiddos at home? Thanks so much for the videos. So helpful.
Catherine Williams it took 11 months start to finish for our first. You are so welcome, thanks for your comment!
Hi if you are currently a foster carer.... does this help speed up the process of being an adopter?
So sorry, I'm not actually sure. But hopefully someone who knows eill see this and be able to let you know 🙏
Is there any age limit for adoptive parents? Please, and how many children can be adopted by a family that doesn't have any children, please
Do you know whether you can adopt as a single man / or woman or do they prefer you to be in a couple.
You can 100% consider adoption as a single person! No need at all to let that be a barrier :)

Did you have to take time off work once you had adopted? How long did/could you take? Thank you!
