I've been doing this for 3 weeks and I LOVE IT! I have found that some of the jobs are just going to take longer for me than she suggests. That said, I have a pretty good grasp of what kind of time I have on average each day, how much physical and mental energy I can apend on the different levels of cleaning, and what my most important areas are right now. So, I try to assess what my focus is for the day, how long I THINK it will take, and then set my timer accordingly. If the timer goes off and I'm not done, I then decide of I have the time or mental/physical energy to do some more. If I do, then I keep going. If I don't, then I wrap up what I was working on and move on and come back to it the next time I have that area assigned. As for dailies? I do those in 5 or 10 minute increments at different times while I'm working on something else (i.e., doing dishes, sweeping while I cook, spraying and wiping bathroom sinks and toilets while I go around the house doing a quick de-clutter). And, one thing Gemma Bray says is soooo true. Good enough is good enough. There is no such thing as perfect, especially if you actually LIVE in your home. Just figure out what jobs will actually make the biggest visual and functional impact for you, and focus your alloted times on those things. As you get into a routine, those jobs become easier because they're being manitained. And that frees up time and energy for other areas that don't get as much attention, or for other more important things like family, people and life in general. I don't have children but I have other challenges to putting the time in to keeping a clean home. But whatever the challenges are, TOMM is a tool and a guide help you see how you can break down your house work to make it more doable and less time consuming. Your schedule on what jobs and tasks to focus on will be different than someone else's. Your days off from level 2's and level 3's may also be different. My days off are Wednesday and Thursday, with my easiest rooms for level 2 being on Saturday and Sunday, and my Focus day being Focus Tuesday. And that schedule can change at any time in my life to adapt to life's changes. All I needed was a guide on structuring my tasks and jobs, and then I made my own schedule with those concepts in mind. I could not do that with other cleaning methods. I do however incorporate a few tips from others, as well as some of my own. As a result, my home is slowly but steadily transforming from chaos into thw kind of home I can relax in, and my stress level and fewling of overwhelm are way down. Maybe if you approach it this way, figuring out the jobs and tasks that YOU find most important for each level, and when to do each...rather than following her lists ver batum, you might discover how adaptable her system really is, and you will maintain a higher level of cleaning as you follow your schedule, and that it won't be perfect, but that it will be a generally clean and tidy home that you can actually enjoy living in with your family.

I’m really glad it’s working so well for you 😊 sounds like you’ve nailed it! You’re absolutely right that done is good enough, we aren’t living in show homes! I think I’ve found a method that fits my style a wee bit better but it’s all different in different seasons of life 😊 xx

@@mumthings hey! Sorry for the very late reply! I'm glad you found a method as well! There is no one-size fits all method to organize and clean 😊. I'm just to happy to see so many of us in today's society, lifting each other up and supporting each other in handling our own homes and messes. I've found some other great tips that I'm using as well. Clutter Bug Cass Aarssen is another great one! She has reat insight on helping people discover their personal organizational style based on the type of clutter they have, and their habits. I am convinced I'm a butter fl/lady bug hybrid lol. But her tips have really helped me being to organize my space better to make things easier for me., while still using TOMM cleaning method. So, what method are you currently following? And is it still working for you?

I feel like this method is hard to fit everything in at the beginning, but the longer you follow, the cleaner your house is and so the jobs become quicker. The 15 mins for daily tasks is always impossible though, especially the laundry element 😂

I think you’re right Polly that if you stick with it things run smoother and speed up. Have you been using this method for long yourself? Thanks for watching 😊 xx

Clean Mama might be good for you. She has 5 daily tasks and then the weeklies are Monday bathrooms, Tues dust, Wed vac, Thur mop, Fri catch-all, Sat sheets/towels, Sun just daily. Then monthly rotating tasks focusing on different rooms/areas. 😊

Thank you for the recommendation! I will give it a go definitely 😊 xx

I feel like if I don’t immediately mop after vacuuming then it’s not clean enough to mop at all. I do have a dog, 3 cats, 2 male Guinea pigs and 4 sons though. Weekly vacuum then the day after come in with a mop sounds ludicrous. It’s interesting how different we all are. It’s nice to try a few programs and take what you like from each.
I’m not sure if there’s a program made for animal lovers or not. I have to add weekly nail trim and deshedding, veterinary grade disinfecting, twice daily vacuuming and litter tray scooping, monthly dog wash, daily Guinea pig cage clean and meal prep in there somewhere. 😂 It’s like a full time job.
With this method I think it’s got it’s pros but with 4 kids I would struggle to do bedrooms in half an hour. They’re ok at the moment because I’ve just done massive culls and then painted all the rooms within the last 3 weeks so it was all pretty organised and I only needed to clean windows and vacuum and do the skirting boards but i still had one room left when the timer went off. My husband and I also have our own rooms so I technically have 2 master beds. Like you we have 3 toilets. It’s a lot. But I think she stresses doing what you can in 15 minutes so you’re not cleaning all day. Maybe one day in the daily clean we could do one bathroom and the next day the next and so on.
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and already love you. A mean girls, Star Trek and how clean is your house reference in one video and I love your mannerisms. Keep making awesome videos. ❤

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! You've made my day there :) I'm completely with you on needing to mop as soon as I've vacuumed. With a toddler and two cats (the reptiles are at least contained!) the floor looks grotty again before the hoover is even away.
I'm going to keep trying different methods but for me a system that takes advantage of me having for example, the mop out, and blitzing everything that needs doing with that seems to be key. Thank you so much for watching! xx

I half assed trying some of these, but I never liked their order and they weren't reasonable timings that just made it quickly disheartening. So at that start of the school year in spetember I created a daily schedule myself, that worked for us that has timings i need to keep up with, within that is an hour of power for cleaning where I do what's needed around the house. It's working so far, but hubby has been off work so I've had a lot of extra help, soon we will both be working full time again

I think writing up you’re own schedule makes a lot of sense. I need to give it a go and create our own that fits our house. You’re right, I don’t think the timings are reasonable on this! Hope you find a rhythm once you’re both back at work xx

The time is also the one thing I can not follow. It just takes me onger to do some jobs and tasks than what she suggests. But instead of ditching it based on that, I took her suggestion in one of her videos to be realistic about the amount of time a task takes you in your home because all of our homes and circumstances are different. So I alot my time accordingly and since my level one tasks are Done at different times of the day instead of in one cleaning session, I just break my level 2 room down into the smaller level 2 tasks and add each task to a level 1 cleaning session cleaning session, which keeps me from being stuck in that day's level 2 room or area for too long. I just dp one task, move onto a few dailies, then next cleaning session, do the next level 2 task, then move onto a few more dailies, and sp on. There's no one-sized fits all way to clean, even within this TOMM, or Fly Lady, or Clean Mamma, or even your own method. 😊

Also, everyone's house is layed out differently. And even TOMM says that you have to adapt your schedule and the specific tasks for each level for your house.
