I’m still only at the stage of trying things out on pieces of scrap leather but you’re videos are both really helpful as well as inspirational because they help me see what to aim for….thanks for sharing your knowledge 😎👍

Thank you so much. I’ve been using the gel instead of paste. Now things look so much closer to my effect

Your videos are really good and useful to us the beginners. i am curious if you ever tried to apply gold foil to leather similar to the decorations on the book covers.

What do you apply the resolene with? I use a pro resist and I feel like the resist gets into the stamping too much and the. It'll not stay when I wipe the antique off.

I usually use European blend at altitude over 6,000 feet. It’s a learning curve at this height

Joe, is it OK for me to put my paste in the refrigerator when not in use, or a little before I use it? I'm in FL and my shop gets warm sometimes (even with the A/C on) and the paste is a little looser than I like.

I am now confused. Fiebings list resolene as a acrylic top coat. I was taught to use Tan Kote as a resist.

Please check out my video titles Tan Kote vs Resolene. Hopefully that will clear it up for you.

Yes it is but it acts as a resist also. Theres a few things you can uxe as a resist and each one resists the antique at different levels like pro resist, rtc, tankote and resolene. The problem with using tankote, which i despise is that it will lift antique no matter how long its dry or how gentle you use it as tankote is a thinner for antique. I prefere to spray my resists on and finisehes where possible as i find it near impossible to get a clean finish with any wipe on finishes. Get a cheap airbrush and i quarantee you wont go back.
