Totally hear that. But, there will always be someone way more talented than you, so allowing that to cripple your start will ensure there never is a success story. One step at a time.
The good Thing is when you start, Nobody will see it. But you have to start to become better and improve. So just do it. People might say it's bad, people might say it's good. Eventually you just need to improve to the level you want things to be. And when that resonates with others you will attract more and more people.
I wanna be a filmmaker. But something that i always like to think about is the art of the equation of our work. I see filmmaking as a complete art, much like music, painting and etc. But our market is completely different. I don't wanna be the guy who edit for others, and lose 100% of the protagonism of the project. It feels like is the only way, but i know that it isn't. Guys, let's fight for this, let's be the protagonists of our art, we have youtube to pay us for our videos, Instagram, and other tools. (There's nothing wrong with working for others, it's just how I feel. Like, i wanna be big, bro. Not just a guy who film stuff.)
I originally clicked on this video for a career project, but wow. I don't think I've ever learned this much in a single video ever before, this has been a wonderful experience
I’m just starting my filmmaking career. Just a few days ago I registered for my local college so that I can get the information and skills I need to efficiently do what I want to do, that is shooting movies. You popped up randomly on the top of my recommended, not an OUNCE of coincidence. When I make it, when I get there, when I finally have the delight and privilege to call myself a professional filmmaker; I will come back and let you know that you helped me to grow out of the norm and to be myself, explore myself, and to show others MY creativity. Much thankfulness -David
There are lots of youtubers that spend a lot of time not really saying much... this video is not an example of that. The whole duration is packed with amazing advice paired with striking visuals and audio. You have a gift, thank you for sharing it with us all.
Omg same, I also turned every school presentation into a film project. They asked why I was willing to do the "extra work" but besides the fun I had doing it I'd rather cut out every time I would say something wrong then doing it "live"💯😂
Wow! I got literally tears in my eyes in the ending of this vídeo... Deeply inspiring content! Thanks to putting that into the world! I'm starting my career as a filmmaker in Brazil! :)
What I have just seen is ............,............... Speechless 🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐 ... U top my list of fav creators ... PS I have seen ur channel first time randomly
DUDE! This was MONEY! So clear & to the point! I was engaged the whole time! I love the variety of angles & focal lengths with your talking head shot! Also, the ending was BRILLIANT!! Filmmaking can be your CAREER, but should never be YOUR LIFE! Dang man, well-done! :)
This was the absolute best , most grounded inspirational, and Informative film that I’ve seen on TH-cam. Thank you for making this. I needed to see it.
Love how you casually made this masterclass of a video, albeit five years too late for me. Oh well, failure is a great teacher too 😅. I agreed with every point you made. Needed to hear the part about continuing to create content, as well as always refining your craft.
This is incredible. Well done. Sorry for being late, I wanted to watch this on the biggest screen I have. It was broken though. So I rented a full size theatre and watched it alone in there. Worth the expense. The concessions person came in and also said it was wonderful.
This video was just amazing! I have found that on YT, most videos, if not all, that are about how to get a career in filmmaking are almost always the same, at least for me, and seem to always have some complex way to become a filmmaker and don't take into account not all filmmakers are going to go on the same career path as others. This video just hit differently for me than most others. Thank you for making this!
Thank you for this video! I never had a crew, and most my videos and produced solely by myself. I've been told to just keep making content. So even though I don't have many viewers or subscribers I will continue to create because YOU inspired me! THANK YOU!
I really only like filmmaking to add the art of cinema into my vlogs but DUDE, even if I'm not a working professional one, this really nails what I need!
This was so incredible to watch, I was engaged the entire time with the way you presented the information and the overall story and feel that you portrayed. I am currently trying to get into film making and photography and this has opened my mind to different ways to approach this journey. I am so excited to see more of the things you create!
I’ve got my first wedding in a little over a week… same here with the $300. I just hope to make a beautiful film for the couple and am grateful for the opportunity. You just need one. Amazing video, Eric. Your creative guidance and authenticity is deeply appreciated.
that zoom out at 5:20 had me.......like WHAT?????!!!! this is fire especially since i think my mind had familirised itself with abit of a more filled up space shoutout to the composition sheeeesh from a South African
Thanks for the tips! Just landed my first wedding for $500. Still in disbelief that I can actually get paid for my creativity. You've been the biggest influence in formulating my style. Keep going!
Wow, just wow. Thanks for lighting my spark for filmmaking ! I’m always fascinated but too afraid to attempt anything but I kept that passion and that dream for this long. So glad I stumbled on this video. I currently shoot recap videos for a summer camp in Wisconsin
Never ceases to amaze me how much heart and detail goes into all of these videos you make. Love the last tip too, it's easy to tell that your videos are YOU. Keep it up!
I really like how you make some educational yt video short film, starting as a normal work day but ending tragically. I don't know what happened with your son. My condolences!
I've never seen any of Eric's other videos, first time viewer, and this is absolutely amazing! Such great advice and the production quality is mind blowing!
Man you are an inspiration, anytime I feel down on this journey you remind me that I am doing great, I just need to push to another level. Seriously man, I love your work.
Bro that intro didn’t have to be that hard, bro. Knocked the breakfast whiskey right outta my hand
lol love u
I think what’s hard about getting started is seeing so many talented people (like yourself) be sooo good and being scared to fail.
Totally hear that. But, there will always be someone way more talented than you, so allowing that to cripple your start will ensure there never is a success story. One step at a time.
@@EricFloberg thanks for your kind reply ✨

Failing is what makes people great, and the fear of failure is the one thing that will keep you from being great. Failing is all gain.

Wow. Just wow. The entire video from start to finish was absolute perfection. Thank you for truly being the TH-cam dad of filmmaking.❤
I wanted to write a comment, but I will just 100% agree with what you just said :)

This video is the true definition of perfection. You covered a lot in a moderately short video
Dude! Not expecting that when I clicked. Eric always comes with that emotional finesse.... This is what we call STYLE baby.

Loved that ”One way” sign and you going wrong way! That’s what it really is!
Love how you casually made this masterclass of a video, albeit five years too late for me. Oh well, failure is a great teacher too 😅.
I agreed with every point you made. Needed to hear the part about continuing to create content, as well as always refining your craft.
