This helped a lot. Was trying to clone the generic SD card my Miyoo mini plus came with. Figure it to be simple but still wanted to find a quick guide. Believe it or not, not too many videos or docs for this out there online. Thanks a lot. 👌🏾
Man, thank you very much! I was about to give up, there are a ton of videos on how to flash an SD card and all that but I just wanted to do this lol. Greetings from Mexico🤙
If your deciding to get a larger sd card. Stock firmware is easier. But… I think if you have two sd cards. It doesn’t automatically read games from tf1 slot. I had to remove the sd card from tf2 slot to force games to be read from slot 1. Oh wow. From Mexico! Glad it helped!
Well I bought two 128GB SD cards, cloned them both and it read them with no problems, I think it's because I didn't resize the roms partition, I read that resizing the partition would cause problems so I backed up the roms folder, deleted the roms partition, created a new FAT32 roms partition with all the remaining space and put the roms back on it.
Same here.... took abit of googling to figure out where to press to get the image clone. Sd cards are very slow write speed... sadly the tech hasn't changed much in the past 10 years.
Sure.. np. I think most tech savvy people know how to do this. I'm not tech savvy. The main issue with doing it this way.. is that you probably need to resize the sd card as it will only partition it as big as the original sd card was. For the slot 1 sd card. I'd suggest downloading and installing using the stock firmware. The nice thing is that it will properly adjust the game partition to the correct size (using all storage). NOTE: the anbernic model I have.. it can only play games in slot 2 (when both slots are inserted)... or only in slot 1 (when only slot 2 is empty). It doesn't appear to read BOTH sd slots for games... I can be wrong. I just wanted to point this out if you were hoping to put games on both slot 1 and slot 2 and hope to play the games simultaneously off both sd cards at the same time. I hope this makes sense. So.. if you want to play games off of slot 1... you would have to remove sd card slot 2. If you want to play games off of slot 2... just make sure slot 2 sd card is inserted (default configuration when you bought it probably). Good luck.
do i need to format the new sd card to fat32 and partition before loading the backup image? or will loading the backup image automatically partition and format the new card for me?
I think it depends on the tool you are using. I don't think it is necessary to format the sd card. But it wouldn't hurt to first format the sd card. As for partitioning it beforehand... because you're loading the vhdx image... it will automatically partition the drive according to how the original sd card was (using the vhdx image). I prefer using anbernic's official image though. After loading the image onto the new sd card, when you first run the sd card it will resize the gaming partition for you.
It’s better to use the stock firmware image. You can download it from the anbernic website. You can use Rufus to burn the stock image. When you run the software once it will resize the game partition to fully use the sd card empty space Finally copy all the games to the game folder. This would work just for the games sd card
Thank you so much.. even an old it guy like myself needed to see how to do this with Rufus.. i did find this vid using Win32 Disk imager but i don't like that program besides with Rufus i can just use the portable version .. Thanks again.. if you ever need any kind of help for Linux or mechanical keyboards just let me know.. kind regards From The Netherlands..
Cool. Sure. I’ll probably need help with Linux. We are running my work automation on aws Linux servers. Also installed xubuntu onto my Chromebook’s laptop so I could play games. Glad it helped. Haha. We are both old. Win32 disk imager sounds good too. I like Rufus has portable version. Very convinient and has some features. Hope you enjoy the anbernic. My kids like playing it. I’ve been trying to play it myself. Thanks. Hope Netherlands is good now
@@angrymathdude Ran in to a strange problem i can't wrap my head around. i bought a new 64gig Sandisk Extreme formatted it using linux Gparted to fat 32. (windows only wanted ntfs).. Then i followed your guide to the letter. But every time i try to start the RG35XX H using the new Sandisk card it hangs on the boot screen. But when i use the cheap nameless card it came with no problems. what's going on ?? Can't be the new card as this is the second time i wrote the image to it. From a card that starts up without issue..
@@samdeur I don’t think it’s the new Sandisk card either. The card reader on the anbernic read 3 different brands for me. Microcenter, sandisk, and Samsung. The method described in this video was to make an image using Rufus and then burn that image again using Rufus. For me the preferred method is to download the official firmware from anbernics website and burn the image onto the new sd card with Rufus
@@angrymathdude thanks for Your help. I was going to tell you I tried that after finding a Reddit post with a link to anbernics. And after I used Rufus to write the image it started working again problem is that there where no games I tried to just delete the rom folder and replace it with the rom folder of the original but it got a sd card is full notification using 64gig. Need to do sum more learning on how this all works but your right it wasn’t the sd card that worked fine with the new firmware form anbernics
@@samdeur Oh cool.. glad you're able to get TF 1 sd card to work. Okay.. let me make some notes... as the anbernic is funky to me. 1. If you are planning to use TF2 slot... it will take precedance over games copied in TF1. That being... you will only see games from TF2. If I wanted to play games copied on TF1 slot.. I would just eject the TF2 slot. 2. When you copy games onto the TF1 slot.... by default.. it doesn't rescan the drive. It needs a trigger to scan the drive for games. So I remember copying a bunch of games onto the SD card for TF1 (the slot running the OS) and none of the games showing. Maybe I didn't wait long enough... but I read somewhere that I needed to delete a file so that it would trigger scanning of games so it could be added to the library. I don't know retroarch to well, but I guess there's a way to do automatic game scanning vs manual scanning. Sorry.. I just wanted to bring this up... I wish I remembered the solution. Good luck! The nice thing about running the stock image file from anbernic is that when you boot up the firmware the first time.. it should (it did for me) resize your game partition so that instead of it being just like 2gb... it will increase it to the max available size. When I did a copy from the existing cheap sd card to a new sd card.. it sucks because you have to do the partition resize yourself. And let's just say I never figured out how to do it!? Have a good one!
so im thinking oh trying to like delete all my files then reupload them back any help i can do to do it and anywhere where i can find all the abernic files
firmware files can be found at anbernics download page: win.anbernic.com/download/ Again.. you would use rufus to take the firmware image downloaded from their website to install onto your existing SD card. Although.. I would suggest buying a new sd card since they're so inexpensive. IF you use their firmware.. it's made so that when you first load up the sd card it will initialize the SD card and expand the games folder to be as large as your SD card is.
Yea you can. Roms are easier. You could just format a sd card and copy the whole sd card over if you wanted to. The sd card format is more important and file structure. But If you don’t want to worry about that. You could use the tool to clone the games over to another sd card
@@angrymathdudei ordered the rg353V, and im worried those memory cards that it comes with are gonna fail, so i wanna be prepared. I have an sandisk 512 gb , i ordered a 64 gb for the software.
