An allied Needler Jackal with an orange shied spawns on the Sacred Icon as soon as you meet up with your first batch of allies going through the sentinel walls.
The elites do the reload in CE. In LateNightGaming's evolution of the elites video, there's a few CE clips where you see the elite make the arm motions of opening and closing the needler, but the needler itself doesnt open or close in the game.
I believe the general idea was that the needler ammo turns into gas inside the needler, and then becomes crystallized to some other product in the gun, hence why the needles seem to emit gas as they move, and that it explains their volatility once exposed to air. There's another video on this somewhere.
there was those grunt needler animations but i cant tell whether if those are reload or jamming. might be malfunction jamming. There was another video of a youtube creator called Gnoggin, he theories that needler crystals evaporated in the gun and crystalized back when shaken hence, its why those crystal is deformed and tiny shards explodes when it pops up but thats only when halo reach onwards.
Add on top of the fact most of the parts of the needler aren't actually mechanically connected to function but work through remote signals to eachother and that really isn't elaborated on more.
I always wondered why the CE needler has blue needles on its first person model, but when it's on the ground or being held by someone else, the needles look Pink
Might be a stretch but what if they made the Jackal use the the same reload animation it has for the Covenant Carbine out of laziness/placeholder? The Jackal looks like it’s grabbing the Carbine’s depleted ammo plug, throwing it away and inserting a new one. What is the animation’s file name, there’s bound to be clues there.
This animation is uniquely used for the needler. They do not have a Carbine reload animation. Tag name references plasma pistol but it does not reload. Its set up for Needler.
My head canon is that the larger crystals liquify and resolidify VERY quickly during both reloads and firing. A lot of people have stated that its impossible for a needle to go into its hole, angle to the "chamber" and shoot out. I just assumed that it somehow vaporizes and then reforms into a solid in a split second
Is magik I imagine the reload system of the needler being some type of recipient being fited in the gun,and somehow, this generates the spikes. Basing in the needle rifle animation, who the player inserts one tube in the gun. Maybe the needler works in a similar way, you fit some recipient, and , boom spikes
Well, that reload animation looks rather generic? Looks very similar to the halo 1 AR reload. Did you check to see any other animation looking similar?
Its uniquely used only for Needler. Not assigned to any other reload weapons. It does have plasma pistol in the name but the plasma pistol cannot reload.

More Needler Lore is always appreciated.

Soubds a cool idea

Ur idea of the needler reload be a crystal inside colapsing, kinda havs a base. H:CE grunts do a little hits in the gun when reloading

Needler is a relly weird gun in this aspect, and us made purely of covie technology
You can give jackals needlers in the arbiter levels
Yes
I rather wonder about that autoaim homeing feature the weapon creates regarding the energy cristalls
This was a very succinct video, really refreshing. I learned more in 3 minutes than most 10+ minute videos.
This man is my guy to go to for halo content, I’ve been subbed for ages and love the vids. Keep up the absolutely Amazing work! 👍👍👍👍

@@Hunterunt How do you know?
By looking at data in mod tools
I swear I remembered a Halo game outside of SPV3 where you placed a blamite crystal into the Needler to reload it. Maybe CE?
you’re probably remember a different mod
@@protocetid Maybe
Also how would the Needle Rifle reload? Yes it’s more like the Carbine with a ammo tube but it’s not a blamite crystal.
Voice over gang, let's go.

Thanks for showing us this, nice to have some answers in a way :)
You ever have a PlayDoh barbershop as a kid? Its like that
You don't put an ammo case inside of a gun. That's not how any weapon in Halo works.
I've watched that SPV3 animation hundreds of times, and never noticed that it wasn't from any of the classic Halo games. weird
HALO 2

IIRC CE Elites & grunts also have reload animations. This will forever be my head canon th-cam.com/video/H84zhF8Ohiw/w-d-xo.html
