    Mega projects within India are notorious for delays and subsequent cost escalations …
    Then , politicians step in and further delays become inevitable due to change of state government policies .
    It’s the contractor - politician nexus which needs to be curbed .
    One exception is Nitin Gadkari who tirelessly has devoted his time towards road connectivity and infrastructure development .

    Projects should be time bound and the company or govt org should be fined if delayed. Externals auditors should do frequent audit for status and delays.

    Any news of BDD chawls redevelopment and Dharavi redevelopment?
    Mumbai's main problem I see is the lack of space due to encroachment by slums (correct me of I'm wrong) and the encroachment of footpaths everywhere.

    I love India, but I find that the buildings in India needs to be painted. Why is the buildings so dull and there is no attraction and beauty. I am sure there are many painting contractors in India. Now that there are more metros and the bullet trains will be in operation soon, there is an urgent need to beautify India in all places: e.g. area around the metro lines/train lines, bus terminals are very dirty and scruffy, needs urgent attention. Rivers , lakes, ponds etc needs to be redeveloped etc. India will be the next superpower. Tourism will increase 100 fold, therefore India must be beautiful in all places. Thanks for the current news, Maharashtra Government needs a wake up call. Those who cannot do their jobs needs to be fired.

    • @mrrattrap1488
      @mrrattrap1488 ปีที่แล้ว

      Painting costs money which is expensive.
      Most societies dont collect maintenance fees from everyones orvtge amount is tiny. Most of them dont have reserves for any work.
      To add to this is lax regulations and checks by the govt. And a lot of illegal buildings.
      I know this because my mother is in the commitee and we discuss issues with a lot of societies in our area.

    One thing that I notice is that there's a lot of overlapping of duties and functions between different institutions.
    For eg. MMRDA which should ideally be an authority solely responsible for Town Planning, preparing Masterplan for the 'Greater Mumbai Region' & identifying what Infrastructure can be built where is also indulging in Road development that should ideally fall under MSRDC. MMRDA should only propose what infrastructure can be built where under its Town Masterdevelopment Plan & let the implementation be left over to other agencies who have a specialization in that.
    In Delhi, DDA is also constructing Slum Redevelopment Projects when you already have a Slum Redevelopment Authority in each state. What's does that authority do then?
    Similar MMRCL should be responsible for Metro Construction just like DMRC does it in Delhi, BMRCL in Bangalore so & so forth but in Mumbai we see MMRDA implementing most of the lines.
    Infact this isn't just limited to Mumbai or Delhi but cities across India.
    Infact even our Municipal Corporations don't have exactly defined roles and thus have overlapping functions with State Governments.
    So I feel there's a need to define and separate duties in order to avoid overlapping between different institutions.

    Coastal ecology, mangroves, green areas, hills and natural forest ecology don't matter at all I suppose. Then when a tsunami brings the whole thing down, we will cry. Are we learning nothing from Joshimath?

    • @minni1357
      @minni1357 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tsunami is rare and possible in specific areas - the kind of causative disturbance and underlying sea topography matters.
      As for mangroves, barely any remain and there should be more planting of such trees on reclaimed land belt.
      Joshimath has been sinking since decades, with unregulated heavy concrete building and traffic coupled with sensitive geology - the effects visible are latter-day superficial appearance. If it was virgin territory till now, then such cracks wouldn't have shown for decades down the line.

    • @vipint3694

      Even joshimath was rare

    • @raviv5109
      @raviv5109 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, one question, how much area is taken by these projects as compared to ecological harm that are bought by common people? Great example the Ganga, was it destroyed by contrtuction? Or for that matter Mithi river in Mumbai.
      Don't be so baised. Even Eruope was dirty.
      And as per logic which u have presented then we should not develop at all, isn't it. Even building house, building does some harm to nature.
      With due respect want to say that there has to be balance.
