Thanks for taking the time to make this video! It definitely helped with making my decision to go with Maaco. The paint seems to be holding up really well after two years. I also want to do the two stage (base/clear coat) option like you did so I can do a proper paint correction. I might just have them remove the fender flares altogether and paint the entire panel underneath. I think Maaco prices have gone up a little though, unfortunately. I’ll find out. For anyone else looking to do this, it helps if you do some legwork and research on the Maaco places in your area (like he said in the video, Maaco is franchised). I did a Yelp and Google review search and found my local shop with the best reviews. It’s worth it. Looking forward to your 270K video. Mine just hit 257K. I’m hoping I can make it last till at least 500K. Thanks again man!

This is cool to see people making relevant comments and content still. Ive got an 01 4Runner that im doing leaky axle seal replacements on and a few other things before i can think about paint- but thats on my mind so i visit/ look for these types of vids often. Im at 275K on mine and hoping to get all the onsie twosie repairs done so i can set $$ aside for Yota1 to do an engine rebuild. Like you, i hope to take mine to 400K miles before having to do that.

@@---bu6eg - Hey, thanks for mentioning Yota1. I never heard of him before but I looked him up. I’m in California so that might be beneficial to me in the future. Like yourself, I’m doing all the little repairs on mine as well. Not too many since these things don’t really break! But, I’m doing all the small repairs right now. The valve cover gaskets/seals are next up for me. But, I’m definitely interested in a decent paint job so I look for and appreciate these type of videos as well. I like to research all my options and then make a wise decision instead of rushing into a possible mistake. Yes, definitely hope we both see some high mileage on our 4Runners. I think the odds are on our side with these third gens. Super high quality.

@@anthonygiordano3991 They quoted me 2300-2900 for basic paint job of the same color for my 1993 Toyota pickup. And 3100-3700 for a new color. Pretty pricey IMO.

@@westcoastplinkin6559 - Definitely pricey! I haven’t gotten my estimate yet but I’m guessing it won’t be too different from yours. Seems like every time I want to do or buy something, the price goes up. I don’t think this is inflation anymore, I think this is just the new normal.

It totally depends on the shop, the preppers, the painter and the paint they use. There are 4 maacos in my area. One of them is hands down better then the others. It also depends on the vehicle. If the techs like the vehicle they'll put in extra time and take extra care with doing a good job.

Love that color - and really like that front grill. Any info you can share on that?

I make paint for repair shops, keeping this inside is why its holding so well. I dont want to shit on maaco, you get what you pay for. If you want your repainted car to sit outside daily you should probably get a paint job somewhere else. Also a tip they wont tell you is if you know a painter you can buy cheaper paint and cover them with a mid/high end clear to save some money if you paint code is simple.

Definitely good tips i think overall it is good for the price i paid. Paint quaility & thickness is still an issue with OEMs on new vehicles so the main thing is keeping it inside that concept applies for both new & old cars
