Thanks for the video... I just bought one with a 20 percent discount coupon and your right, the instructions are a lacking. I have an after market bumper on my 95 Toyota Pickup that is very similar to the winch mount you installed your winch on. Again, thanks for the vid.
Ive used it to pull vehicles, trees, and a huge rock up a hill. I use it with the block everytime. It does the job with no more loading than i would expect. My next pull will be stumps, no too big. I think thats the real test.
Found this video after I had did this same thing. Except I mounted the relay to the inside of one of the handle post. And omitted the battery disconnect, since the winch isn’t hard wired to a battery, there wasn’t a need for it.
Ive used mine on several vehicles, i like the setup being mobile. The only reason i added the disconnect, even though you're correct, it's not needed, is to avoid shorting while connecting to and disconnecting from the battery.
That makes sense. At least you noticed the issue with not enough clearance to connect the blue wire before mounting the winch on the plate. I learned the hard way. Same as with the fairlead.
I have this exact winch on a Yamaha R-Max and have the same problem with the blue wire being even closer to my bumper than yours is to the hitch mount. I've searched for two days on every website that i can find to see if it can be clocked differently with no luck finding anything about them other than reviews and installs. It's looking like I'll have to blindly open it up myself. Sure would be nice to know before hand
If you watch from the 14min mark, I explain where this goes. If you pause at the 15:57 mark, you can see the little red wire going under the boot. Hope this helps. While you're watching, hit subscribe!
Also, is this too small for a Cherokee , the actual cherokees❤Xj? Will take anyones opinion bc I keep getting two opposing ones on the interwebz , maybe I should just try
Own same winch and in the process of finishing same sort of control box for loaning to friends with 2" hitches.
Cheers 🍻...

Doing this with mine right now.
Where does the red wire go? The little red one that says if not attached won’t work, just straight to the positive battery terminal?
