A LOT of people are missing the point of this entirely. Is she a great singer? Perhaps not, but who cares? She is singing the song with her father's band as a tribute to her father. I find it both beautiful and sad. Beautiful to see Shannon's beautiful daughter fronting his band, and terribly sad because she grew up without him.
all the people criticizing her i would like to see them in front of a big crowd singing and see how good they do...it takes alot of guts to get up on that stage

It's nice to see she is a perfect mixture of her mom AND dad. I'll say she looks a lot like her mother, but smiles like Shannon and of course, has his gorgeous hair.
Brave and giving girl. She did that for everyone else, not for herself. Thank you Nico :) your dads music got me through some tough times and still rings of truth. You made me cry :)
I met Shannon Hoon in 1992 the day after their show at the Stone Pony they had an autograph signing. Super nice guy and still one of the best Rock shows I have been to. I remember telling him what a good time I had at the show and he was like are you coming tonight? I said I don't have a ticket yet but I want to go he pulled out four tickets out of pocket and said "See you tonight". The next year I was visiting colleges in Boston and I flew back early to see them again and the show was canceled. RIP Shannon Hoon.
I think this is so amazing. There are times where you hear her dad. Here you have a bunch of guys who lost a dear friend, a daughter that never really met her dad and a family that lost a son and brother. Now we all have this song from Shannon to listen to and sing. The second I realized in the title it was his daughter I teared up and thought how amazing is this... The power of music and emotion brings us all together on another level.
so glad the comments aren't a shit show here. this is a beautiful video. no she is not quite as technically good a singer as her father but this song was written by her dad right before she was born about how he needed to change his ways so he could be a father. tragic as it is that he was unable to do so, it's still a very powerful song that he left behind. to see this beautiful girl singing it with the bandmates and friends her dad left behind is very touching and i am so glad i saw this. @Alphonse Elric -- Shannon wrote the song, but like the other reply said it dates back to the 1980’s long before Nico was born or Blind Melon was formed. In fact it was the very first song Shannon ever wrote.

It's great that she sang the song her father wrote before joining Blind Melon. She did a great job with the song despite all the nerves. What I find especially touching is how the band treated her. You can see that they love her. That alone is priceless. Most bands just move on and forget everything and everyone connected with their fallen band member.
I was watching old Blind Melon videos getting all nostalgic and thought of Shannon's daughter. I wondered what she was up to and was happy to find these videos. Oh man, this is special.
I cried during this video from start to finish! Shannon never got to see his daughter grow up and she never got to meet her father. Amazing video! Nico singing with the Blind Melon band. Who would have thought? Keep on singing Nico, you're beautiful! Great job Blind Melon guys taking care of her. Very touching. Such talent! I love you all! ❤

I KNOW WE ALL CAN’T STAY HERE FOREVER SO I’LL WRITE MY WORDS ON THE FACE OF TODAY The Seattle sound/grunge movement was the last real rock and roll renaissance. It was the last time we had artists that really had something to say.
I just came across this version of a classic song from my youth. It seems like Blind Melon were here for but a blink of an eye. Shannon’s voice was simply mesmerizing. Back to this version. Imagine being a young father with a little baby girl named Nico, and a destructive addiction named heroin. Unfortunately for Shannon, he was consumed by the later. Imagine now, having grown up without a father who could teach you to walk, read, ride a bike, throw a frisbee, or any number of things a dad’s do for their kids. All you have are never-aging recordings of his singing. As you grow older, time stays frozen for your father. So, his daughter Nico gets up on stage with her dad’s old band mates at a county fair one night to sing a song that has become iconic to so many people across multiple generations who either loves this song, are fighting addictions, or both. This version has nothing to do with how her voice sounds. It has everything to do with the triumph and perseverance of the human spirit as the spirit of her father passes through her into these words. If that doesn’t make your eyes well up with tears, put a lump in your throat, and make your heart break open with both pride and pain for this no-longer-little girl, well… I think you might need to shake off any bad energy you might be carrying around today and then, listen to this song again with the right state of mind. It should make you so humbled to be alive! RIP Shannon Hoon, may God bless his daughter Nico Hoon, and his band mates of the great Blind Melon.

This is awesome to see! To see not only the rest of the band being able to play together again but also that Shannon's daughter had the strength to sing with them on stage. I can't imagine all of the pressure that she went through.
Beautiful and sweet girl and clearly her dad’s friends cherish her like a niece. I wasn’t even a fan of theirs different era but this is just pure good.
This was amazing!!! She sounds just like him. I am impressed with this. Way to fill your dad's shoes.
Loser Loser Sounds like nothing like Shannon and he doesn't have his range, still it's cool seing her pay tribute to his father
What a beautiful tribute to her father. What a brave young woman. Kudos. Shannon must be smiling down upon her.
Nico hoon please sing more you are great .
GOOD JOB NICO YOU ARE AWESOME!!! Keep singing! ❤️
So sad that Shannon died that way in 1995, and nice to see his girl on stage. He was great in Blind Melon, and Guns N Roses Don't cry video, and i saw a live GNR show Chicago 1992, where Shannon sang with Axl on Don't Cry, it was great to see.
love when she kisses Chris on the cheek
Shannon, Shannon, Shannon... Man everyone misses you.
Thank you Nico, for sharing your dad's soul with us
