    FWIW, the answer is no. 2002 LX470 with 285/75r17 on 17x8s with zero offset, a little bit of torsion bar crank, took that pinch weld all the way back to flat and I'm still rubbing when the suspension cycles. I think they're actually rubbing on the little bolt head that holds the trim on, but they're definitely rubbing on something and they'll rub bad on the trail. Hope this helps somebody.

    That bumper needs its own zip code. Looks fantastic on a Lexus.

    What’s the rim specs tho. 17”x? -0 offset is handy to no but rim width is important also. Thanks

    I have a 99 LX myself. I have the factory ahc suspension and a 1 inch body lift. I have 35x12.5x20 nitto mud grapplers. My rims have +25 offset. I have absolutely no rubbing unless I'm in low on the suspension. If you wouldn't mind a suggestion. I'd keep the ahc suspension for a couple reasons. Mostly for the adjustable shock rate at the touch of a button and also with the ahc suspension while driving on the road getting to the trail.... If going around a corner at speed and the truck leans the suspension will stiffen up on the side that needs it to help keep it upright and not roll over. Especially if you plan on adding weight up high on the 100 series

    • @BeavBrodie1
      @BeavBrodie1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well damn… I get the wheel offset making a difference, but surprised to hear that tire size doesn’t rub. The suspension really that good?

    • @waynechenault4596
      @waynechenault4596 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Personally I love my ahc suspension. And I don't ever plan on getting rid of it. I wish I could add a picture of my LX. I have a winch bumper and a apex badlands 12k winch and of course a snorkel. Also have a victory 4x4 roof rack. I've driven down rivers about 4 feet deep no problem

    • @brianescamilla
      @brianescamilla ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Can vouch for the performance of the AHC system. If it's in good condition and the lines are rust-free, you'll get many miles of trouble free performance. I will note that what I think is the key factor in Wayne's setup is the body lift. A body lift will get you true wheel clearance, not just move the suspension further down the arc like a lift kit will. To fit 34s, I would add a 1/2" body lift and maybe a 1/2" sensor lift on the AHC system for good measure.

    • @waynechenault4596
      @waynechenault4596 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've thought about maybe getting stock non AHC rear springs and front torsion bars and installing on mine just to help some with the added weight of my front winch bumper and roof rack. I'm going to be adding a rear bumper as well as soon as I can figure out what exactly I'm wanting for a rear bumper

    • @brianescamilla
      @brianescamilla ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@waynechenault4596 i would recommend the King KTRS-79 springs for the rear. Non-AHC coils tend to be too high of a rate to work with AHC unless you are severely overloaded.

    Your LX looks great with that wheel and tire combo, very clean. If you have the time, couple questions: Is your LX at Neutral or High AHC positon in this video? With the zero offset of those rims and the 285/75 tire do you get rubbing after the pinch weld mod at full turn? Do the tires tuck into the fenders when crawling or do they hit fenders? Would you still go with the same setup or change anything? Thanks!

    • @BeavBrodie1
      @BeavBrodie1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great questions. ACH in Neutral. The only rubbing i get is turned all the way to the right on the back of the windshield washer bottle shield. I haven't been off road with it yet, but the tires will hit the fenders, they wont tuck. As much as I like the wheels I would change them to something with less offset. I will also be removing the ACH system in the near future. Hope this helped.

    Zero offset rims on the ifs 100 is not a great combination, especially with larger tyres. Not only does It looks stupid with that amount of poke, but it won't perform that great.
    In my opinion, the ultimate size and offset is a 285/75r16 with about +30 offset 16" rim.
    This +30 still gives a little amount of tyre poke from the guards without stuffing up your steering geometry or having guard contact.
    Also, the difference in tyre size is only 3%, so not worth going up to that size for just an overlander /touring vehicle.

    • @BeavBrodie1
      @BeavBrodie1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good info & I dont disagree. I may end up changing wheels to a different offset at some point.

    • @Adhdad1

      Hey Steve, I’m running 285/75/16 falken atw3 on stock rims. Am I right in thinking the stock rims are 0 offset? I have 2” lift. The wheels look tiny now, but the general consensus seems to be that they are the optimal size for the 100 series. Do you think the offset is the key. Eg get different rims ? If so , is that +30? Cheers.

    • @SteveBurns80
      @SteveBurns80 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Adhdad1 No, the stock rims on the ifs 100series are +60. Only the solid axle Cruiser came with zero offset.
      Stupidly, people still do run zero offsets on their 100series, it's too much poke and you will rub the guards on full compression when running 33s.
