I'm actually wondering how much power that thing draws and what size power strip you need to power everything on that table.

It's not that bad actually. I have never tested it, but I think it's around 180-200W peak, when every device is making noise and maybe 30-50W average when playing a song. I should get an AC power meter and check it.

    There is an apparatus
    It's called the floppotron
And it's been the conductor of many a great song
    Now here's another one
    It's mother was a server
    It hosted gaming streams
    It's father was an engineer
    Way down in New Orleans
And the only thing a maker needs
Is a desk drawer full of junk
And the only time that he's satisfied
Is when he hears a 'clunk'
    Oh hackers, tell your children
No to do what I have done
Don't spend your life writing parodies
    For the on-line floppotron
It's got one belt on the drive wheel
And it makes the carriage ring
And I'm going back to New Orleans
To hear that disk drive sing

I think the Floppotron suits verry good to this song. The reason is the hammond organ, that was used in the orriginal song. By the way a verry interesting instrumen, because it is half electric and half physical. And that is what the floppotron can mimic verry good, because it is also a half electronic and half physic instrument, where the physic part is totally controlled by the electronic part of the instrument.

The animals version wasn't the original. This song is an old folk standard, and nobody is certain who first wrote it.

    • @borayurt66
      @borayurt66 4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

Actually it is a Vox Continental organ, not a Hammond. Clearly seen on this video I linked below. Hammond sound is very different, much sharper like you hear in most Deep Purple songs. Jon Lord had a modified Hammond to better suit Blackmore's guitar sound, but it is still a good example of Hammond.

The bit after 2:21 is an example of how exciting it can be to violate conventions. Just to totally off-rhythm yet still in a pattern, as if to say: Don't be afraid of going nuts, there is still rhyme and reason to it.
It is also an expression of defying the mindslavery of the hamsterwheel. Kinda like: All the DAW drones gluing their mind to grids, quantizing, autotuning, they are giving up everything that matters.
