The Hurdy Gurdy arguably has the coolest sounds of any folk instrument in the existence of humanity.

As an amateur luthier, making mostly guitars,I've toyed with the idea of building a hurdy gurdy. Now I know that I absolutely have to add one of these amazing instruments to my collection.Guilhem is obviously a virtuoso musician, with what sounds like practically a spiritual connection to the instrument and the music being created.I will try to learn to play my hurdy gurdy, but I have no illusions that I will ever develop the sort of mastery on display here.Kudos to Guilhem for bringing this antique musical tradition to a modern audience in such a beautiful way.

Why not a cherub, a flower, a bird or some other object conveying beauty? The music is THAT beautiful. I have reached an age where I seek beauty, and reject nihilism and evil in all things. As you yourself have pointed out, this is a “different instrument” because you are able to do things with it that are not possible on a traditional hurdy-gurdy. YOU ARE A PIONEER, and you are fearlessly exploring new gurdy territory in a unique and totally wonderful way.
While I love the traditional gurdy repertoire, if the instrument is to make it into the 21st century as anything other than a curious relic of the past it must adapt, like the guitar and the keyboard, to the world of electronics. I think what you are doing is magnificent! I am familiar with the peripheral equipment you are using, and it requires a degree of dexterity and virtuosity that rivals what is needed just to play the gurdy. You appear to have mastered both.
The problem with being a pioneer is that it is a lonely and often thankless existence.
