  • I can't believe my tiny Beyla Bean is 4 months old already!!! Here is a day in the life of my golden retriever puppy, Beyla. I did monthly pupdates for my Australian Shepherd puppy for her first year, and we're doing the same thing with Beyla! So I hope yall stick around each month to see her grow and see what she knows.

Beyla is so sweet 🥺🥰 I was wondering what a typical day looks like for Freya now that there are two new doggos in the picture?

Im definitely going to have a hard time explaing this but one of my favorite tricks ive taught my dogs is 2 versions of the same command, but alternating who is centered. If I say guard my boy is centered and my girl is in heel for my right hands, while defend its the opposite. We mostly use it for when we see different wild animals to give me more control in that situation. Loved the video! ❤❤❤❤

Beyla is growing up so fast! You're doing a great job! Came across your channel as I have an Aussie, too. You mentioned Beyla isn't learning as fast as Freya. Comparing the way you trained Freya to Beyla, I observed something that might help with that. With Freya, you were more consistent with her marker word (yes) + treat. I noticed with Beyla, you say "yes" but don't pair it with a treat every time. It dilutes the meaning of "yes" so it becomes just another sound instead of a clear indicator (i.e. marker) that she's done something correctly and that a tasty reward will follow. Being really black and white and clear with communication will help her learn loads faster. ☺ Make sure you're getting what you want consistently with tricks before you chain them together, too - she's just a baby still! 🥰 Once she has a trick down solidly, if you want to ask for multiple tricks and don't want to give a food reward for every single one, try simple praise that's not your marker in between (e.g. sit, good girl!, down, awesome!, touch, yes!, treat). I really hope that helps! Was debating whether to post as tone doesn't always come across, so I just want to emphasise that you're doing great, and I only wanted to share my experience and tips so we can all become better dog mums! ☺

Stop!!! The nostalgia is real!!! Has it been easier with Beyla because she’s your second, and also typically goldens are considered easier than an Aussie?

I find it interesting you can't come up with at least 1 reason to keep your dog safe from our human environment / human house when we are not watching them or not home?
      - can get into the trash, eat something they shouldn't = DEAD
      - can get into cleaning cabinets, eat something they shouldn't = DEAD
      - can chew up / eat something in the house (couch, socks, rugs, pillows, shoes, etc.) = DEAD
      - can chew / eat exposed wires from the TV, phone chargers, computer cords, etc. = DEAD
      - can get into a fight / altercation with current pets in the household that can get out of hand quickly = DEAD
......none of those come to mind? That is just 4 that every person (aside from multiple pets in the household) runs into with animals, but everyone has specific houses/environments that aren't safe for unattended dogs.

@@FreyaAndBeyla I think we have a cultural bias here, I don’t know where this person comes from but there are some countries in Europe like Sweden and Finland where crating your dog overnight and when left alone is illegal and places where crating is just not a thing. So there are definitely other options than the crate to confine the puppy but for sure they are not that easy and people will always have opinions about it. Btw you’re doing nothing wrong, the crate is a powerful tool and you are using it great thinking about what’s best for your dogs❤ love your videos ❤
