  • I ALWAYS get asked how Freya's recall is...and to be honest it's not that great ANYMORE!!! There once was a day where it was PERFECT and we went everywhere off leash and it was amazing. But unfortunately it has just gotten worse and worse through her regression phase so I have decided to just scrap our old recall and START OVER with teaching my Australian Shepherd puppy recall from the beginning and tips for making it strong and reliable! I hope this is helpful for yall and gives a look at how I teach Freya things and our plan with re-teaching her recall!

    My dog very quickly learned that “Come” means that he doesn’t have to come, and since we go to the dog park a lot and we don’t have a fence, I got a whistle! Not a dog whistle but just a plastic Whistle and he comes every single time, close or far!

    • @FreyaAndBeyla

      I will have to get a whistle! that's an awesome idea. I already can whistle, but it's not always loud enough. I'll have to get one so it's a consistent sound and loudness

    I’m such a fan of you and freya! I found you two when I was considering getting my precious aussie girl. I watched all of your Freya videos and took so many great tips that validated my vision of how I wanted to raise her. She is a beautiful blue Merle brought her home at 7 weeks and she is now 12 weeks and. 13.5 lbs. what something I’m finding is it’s very hard to potty train with an adult dog in the back yard so I’m going to switch things up so I can continue potty training during the night but oof it’s very difficult mostly at night. Anywho thank you so much love your journey ladies!

    One of my dogs is a rescue so as a puppy she was either abandoned or a street puppy born on the streets so she has an issue with other dogs coming near me and I think it’s probably because on the streets she hasn’t always had the best experience with other dogs- but we are working on it by taking her to work with me (I work at a doggy daycare) and I will go in the group with her and pet the other dogs to show her that they’re not a threat to me or her. It’s truly awesome to see the changes in your dog when you work on teaching new things especially when it comes to PTSD in dogs!

      @@FreyaAndBeyla me too I just don’t understand how people can do such terrible things to animals… there’s an American bully/pittie mix at my work and he actually belongs to our company now because the people that brought him in for boarding in the first place said they rescued him from a dog fighting situation and they didn’t want to keep him because he doesn’t get along well with other dogs (obviously because of the previous owners training him to be a fighting dog) and he’s going to be going to another one of our facilities soon to work with a trainer 1:1 to socialize him and hopefully get him adopted out

    I've had my Rottie for 3 weeks now (he's turning 3 months soon), his recall is almost perfect, no matter if he's snifing or playing, if I call his name, he'll come. How we did that is we simply gave him something exciting whenever we called his name. So I called him for treats, play time or just snuggling. We don't pay him everytime now, sometimes we do, sometimes we don't, but we always give some pets. I don't know how it'll be in the future, but we will continue to do this, so hopefully it'll be fine.
    When and if he starts having problems tho, I have my slip. I will attach a long line and if he doesn't come I'll just use it to lure him back over and pay him then.

      I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a lot of puppy’s have this phase where they will constantly want to stay in contact with you. But in 99% of cases, they will regress once they gain confidence in being away from you 😅

    • @FreyaAndBeyla
      @FreyaAndBeyla  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      correct ^^ Freya had PERFECT recall at 4 months old and then around 7-9 months is when she started getting into that teenager phase and regressing in a lot of her obedience (which is normal!) so we're working through all that again now :) ❤️
